I know, it's sad. I see it in my students. Honestly, I blame anime for my current feelings of "YAY LIFE." So much of it is about having passions for what you do, about choosing a path and sticking with it -- or then choosing another and sticking with that. I've watched my husband be suicidally depressed, for very good reasons, for almost the past ten years, and seeing him come out of it over the last six months has been a breath of the freshest air you could possibly imagine. I have a to-do list miles long, and most of it is stuff I want to do.
What do you want to do with your life?

Eh. I'm a dreamer. There are a millions of things I'd love to do... I could never list them all. And they're always changing. But the one dream that has always stuck with me since I was kid is to act in movies. It's my ultimate goal in life... it's just getting there that's the hard part. Throughout my whole life, I've never had nearby access to much opportunity, so it's been hard to make a start for myself. But once I am comfortable enough and can afford to go off on my own, I certainly plan to work my best to make my dream possible.
I also have a dream to travel... but that requires money. So if I ever do become successful... that is something I will certainly dedicate my time towards. And, to be honest, about the whole getting old thing... it's something that I might actually be more willing to do if things DO turn out alright for me. If not, then... well, I don't really have any other reason to live.

Gah, I live among people who are aspiring movie actors. It's hard. It's really hard. You have to either be lucky or a very good networker, and you have to straddle the line between schmoozing everyone and being plastic and fake. But if it's something you want to do, I think you should definitely go for it! Go to a film school, or a university with a strong film or theater department, and just make connections and get to know people!
You remind me of my sister with the traveling thing... She's been to so many countries, I don't think I could list them all. She sort of backpacked across Thailand (well, train trips with a big backpack, if that counts), has been to Turkey and some countries around there, and so many more. I'm a stay-at-home type, but I do want to go back to Japan! And London! And I've never been to Paris, which is silly because I lived in Europe for three years but never had the funds to travel any farther than Belgium. :(

Yep yep. I'm looking into that for next year. The question is where. I'd rather go somewhere that I have status for... so that would mean somewhere in Canada or in the UK. I also want to study in an area with ample opportunity--that's why I've been considering Vancouver for the longest while. It's so close to California, where there is the most opportunity for film.
Yeah, I've heard of the whole backpacking thing... but I'm probably one of the most high-maintenance girls ever. If I'm going to travel, it needs to be in controlled comfort. I have several necessities... I can't just go around winging it like many people. That's why, if I had money, travelling is something that I could fully enjoy.

"high-maintenance"? How so? Like, makeup, hair, Princess Vespa-type stuff? Or cafes and internet and cooked meals?
I've lately been realizing the sheer importance of money. Our income is something like half of what we really need it to be, for a comfortable life, and honestly we're not that extravagant. But things like cat care, decent groceries, car insurance, instrument insurance... they cost more than I'd ever have imagined, ten years ago.

Yes, I know what you mean. It's hard when there's a lot of things that you WANT, also... which I sometimes tend to sacrifice my needs for.

LOL, you don't come across as so online! How funny. I'm so low-maintenance in those terms. I try every six months or so to convince myself that I should wear makeup to look professional, but come the first really stressful day when I've barely got time to shower in the morning, the habit just slips away. I probably spend MAYBE 15 minutes in the bathroom in the morning, including the shower.

Aha. That's because nobody 'sees' me online. The whole point of that stuff is in regard to my physical image. I spend at least an hour in the bathroom each morning... sometimes more, depending. And that's just for work. Don't even ask how long I take to get ready when I go out... lol. But everyone's different, and we all have our reasons.
(Btw, I probably won't get the chance to reply to the rp tonight. A friend is coming over to watch some shows with me.)

How ya doing? I might not be able to get to the RP again tonight; as you probably saw in other posts, I'm feeling pretty awful. I just want to do my raffle drawing and go to bed.

I'm on the mend now. It was a nasty night, up and down constantly to the bathroom. I made myself a couple of boiled potatoes with salt and pepper (and a bit of soy milk to mash them up with), and that's really helped. I think I just caught stomach flu, only with no vomiting. For which I'm grateful, but still... Ger.

I'm feeling like a human again, instead of a slimy puddle of gooey food poisoning. Yay for Cipro.
(I had McDonald's this morning, on the way to school. I've been craving it since I got sick. I think there must have been a reason, because it calmed my stomach right down. Weird!)

Woah... McDonald's--or any fast food, really--has never done my stomach any good. It sucks because I love eating it... I envy those who can eat it like every day without problems.

Oh, no one can eat it every day without problems. And it usually unsettles my stomach. But I think that something about the white biscuit stuff, or maybe the salt, calmed things down. o.O

So, I got myself an iPhone. Now I really see what you were talking about... it's a fucking brilliant device! Is yours jailbroken? A guy at my office was able to jailbreak it for me, and I love it!

No, mine isn't jailbroken, and it does everything I need it to do. What does jailbreaking allow you to do?

Well, I'm not too sure about ALL of the jailbreaking features... but I use it mostly to be able to download apps for free. I also discovered recently that there are a bunch of themes and other features you can download for the phone itself, but I haven't looked much into that yet. I mostly take advantage of downloading apps for free.

That does sound pretty cool. I've easily put $100 into iPhone apps -- but I've gotten a lot better in the last year of figuring out which ones I'll actually use. I have a lot of 99¢ apps I no longer use. Mostly games.

And we're back open! I'd forgotten what a great community Menewsha is, in the last (oh, wow) year of being OMFG-busy.
But hey, I finished my Master's degree in performance, and won grants to travel to do my dissertation research, so it was a year well spent.

When you have an updated EI quest list, I'll check to see what extras I have or I can have my mule Burger King come see what extras he has. :)
Welcome back by the way. ^_^;
Edit: Ping me when you get your list updated.
