It is the 23rd century. The current year is 2212. The planet is Ios, home to a surviving pocket of humankind and various other races, has developed amazingly well since the colony ship NG5-Halcyon, carrying up to one billion human inhabitants, landed on the free continent of Zeigardt in the year 2182. The other races were wary at first of the newcomers from space, but good manners and customs saw them through many rough patches.

Although there had always been concerns of the introduction of humans and technology to their world, so were the humans concerned of the other races and the magical power the seemed to wield, once believed to them to be nothing more than fictitious and impossible. The other races were patient, integrating humans into their society, teaching those who wished to know the way of magic as a means to better understand them as well as allow the humans to do the same in return. As thanks, humanity shared the wonders of its technology, developed too late, humanity had found clean energy in a reproducible, unlimited fuel and energy source referred to as Daoden and Prisma respectively, a fine gift to help advance other races.

However perhaps the most widely protested action of the humans was to take up a portion of unclaimed land known only as Blackhaven, this was in 2191.
Many tales surrounded this particular section of land, tales of monsters, tales of creatures more vicious than those that sometimes prowled the wilds. The humans saw fit to ignore such claims, for the paranormal was not something they could easily believe in.
There were those of the races who agreed and so aided humanity in forming its own city at the very tip of the continent, the fabled Blackhaven peak where most of the tales were enshrouded. But there was nothing.
This unfortunate turn of events revealed a great deal of arrogance in the human leaders. Causing the remaining races to view the Human race as somewhat foolish for not listening to warnings.

Using the mysterious magic of those races willing to help and their own technological advances, Humans finally established the Super City Halcyon in 2210, more than half of it situated out on the ocean, the rest on the land surrounding the peak of the peninsula, which itself was left for its sheer beauty. Since its establishment, despite typical thievery and illegal actions, handled by the newly formed TEARS Government Police Force, Halcyon is said to be quite prosperous and peaceful.
But humans would soon enough learn the error of their personal judgement. Humans and those fool enough to reside with them.

Main Menu
Welcome to the Main Menu of Blackhaven 2212, you can use this as a guide as to where each of the sections are, or click on the section you desire to view it independently of the thread, allowing for there to be less distraction.
I find it helps to do this because viewing the entire thread will seem like quite the chore, whereas viewing each bit separately may not overwhelm the reader as much. But I guess everyone is different in that respect.
The information for this Roleplay will be Separated into four sections. General Information. Advanced Information. Applications. And a fourth, classified section that will open later when the RP reaches a certain turning point.
Additionally, by this time I will be closing New Member applications, but the other players who have already been accepted will be free to view the hidden section after the turning point and make further applications for characters if they choose to.

General Information
As the label says, general information regarding the RP's storyline.
Intro
Menu
OOC Intro

Advanced Information
I will pre-warn all readers. I have provided A LOT of information to take in. But it might not all be necessary for every reader beyond research purposes. In fact, I recommend that you only read the parts you feel necessary to the creation of your character. Then any other character you encounter may give you something interesting to look up. Other than that, reading everything is not necessary, its all simply there to help you in making a character for this RP and preparing them for the main plot when it comes, but if something inspires you, roll with it. The only exception to this is the Rules section, don't ignore that.
Rules
Races
Factions
Magic
Technology

Applications
This section illustrates the Application process, provides you with some basic character designs I may like to see at the start of the RP and lists those whom I have accepted. I hope to be putting up many character names in the Accepted list. However I may limit the number of players I accept into this RP (number unknown yet), mostly so I can still keep a controlled environment.
Special Roles
Application Form
Accepted List

Classified
When the main plot for the RP kicks in, I will open up this section for private viewing because when that occurs the RP will officially be locked to outsiders. The idea is that the surprise of what I have in store will throw a great deal of interest toward it. Needless to say, I have many interesting things in store. The private information is pivotal to the main plot. Willingness to remain clueless of what will occur until then will be rewarded in the end. You're free to speculate though.

OOC Intro

Blackhaven 2212 is, as you can tell, set in the future, humanity has finally left earth for good, having damaged it beyond reparation. Although many Colony ships were sent in groups, some were sent separately to other worlds that were deemed inhabitable.
By pure irony, in the last chapter of Earth's demise, humans discovered a clean fuel source, Daoden, and a clean energy source, Prisma. Both easy to create, and neither wasteful. These two sources were fitted to the ships that took them across the stars, many light years away from home.

Currently, the humans from the Colony ship Halcyon and their offspring are dealing with relations and trade with the strange races of Ios, a multicultural and racial world. Some cross-breeding has occurred, typically met with either amazement or amnesty, but what can I say? We're only human.

Using Magic and Technology in a profitable combination, the Super City Halcyon was established around Blackhaven peak, against the advisement of the elders of other races. So far it has al been peaceful, but it is about to change, violently, abruptly, and without a single shred of mercy.

I will only warn once. I intend this to be a Horror/Adult RP, of sorts. Once the RP reaches a certain point we will be dealing with gore, some sexual themes and possibly complex plots. This RP will require sensible minded players, but don't be intimidated, there will be plenty of light-hearted/dark humour to keep us amused also. I have a lot planned, a lot of ideas ready for use and I am more than open to suggestions once I completely reveal the hidden nature of my RP

Rules
I have two sets of rules. The Serious Rules that you must obey or I'll eat you like a sour sweet. And I like sour sweets, they're yummy. And the Not-So-Serious rules, mostly because people usually obey them anyway.

Serious Rules
The Consent Rule
This is technically a four part rule. It all acts together as one rule, but each part must also be observed separately because they do often occur separately. However each of the three rules below the first always occur with the first one in mind.
I will be making Demonstrations with the characters Bob and Jim, my faithful test dummies. They get hurt often, so you don't have to

Get Consent - Get it! Consent allows for a lot of things. Getting permission from other players, or the current GM, me, is vital to what I would call a fun, fair roleplay. But use your sense in regards to this. Abusing the consent rule can lead to unfair situations and unnecessary trouble, whereas there are things that don't need consent. Take it away Bob and Jim.

"Bob punches Jim" - Bad. For this Bob must die a horrible death =3 Negative actions like this may be unwelcome.
"Jim hugs Bob" - That's fine. Everyone loves a hug. Refusing Positive actions doesn't occur often. Now Bob, fix your earlier mistake.
"Bob tries to punch Jim." Good boy. If you haven't got consent, make it an attempt. Even if you do have consent, for writers sake, say it as an attempt anyway, so the receiving party will acknowledge it themselves.
This wont always have to be the case, but I think the children get the message. NEXT! :O

No Godmoding - Now this is sometimes mistaken for Powerplaying. Godmoding is when you literally act as god and control the situation how you like it. You control some-one else's character without their Consent and write that they do an action or even say something that their player would not intend.
Over to you Bob.
"Bob punches Jim, Jim falls over dead." - Bad. For this Bob will not die, he will be tortured, in ways I couldn't possibly describe without making even demons cry. And Demons crying makes Sinny sad :(

No Powerplaying - This, in a similar manner, is often mistaken for Godmoding. Powerplaying involves the sudden and abrupt use of weapons/powers/abilities/skills that you never listed in your profile or made sure other players were aware of. And I tell you right now, if you don't tell your own GM about it. He will get very very annoyed, and Bob will suffer more pain. Do you really want to get poor Bob in more trouble? You mean, mean people :o

No Twinking - This is a long forgotten rule, though it does fall under Powerplaying a little bit. Anyway, Twinking is done by those people that never seem to get hit, cut or grazed. Are you getting it yet? You cant avoid everything without a good reason. Normally I expect people to get damaged in some way or form, or something happens in reaction to attacks. I'll permit people to dodge attacks and such a few times but once they start avoiding everything, I'll start to get a bit suspicious.
Remember, every time you twink, God kills a Bob. Don't worry I have a lot of them, but the cloning process is annoying :stare:

Miscellaneous Rules
Sexual Content - I am allowing some level of descriptiveness. I'm pretty loose on this subject but if you wanna go all the way. Please take it to PMs. Otherwise, don't go into explicit details, but be as suggestive as you like.
Violence/Gore - There is going to be violence, there is going to be gore, but I get squeamish about a few certain things. These things are abuse (beaten wives etc etc, you get the idea, I don't like it), descriptive mutilation (particularly of women, rip guys apart for all I care), and children. As lacking in innocence as real children are these days, imaginary children are still loveable little darlings, make their deaths as lacking in gore or pain as possible, please? As for anything else, go crazy.
Prejudice - Keep it out of this Roleplay. No-one likes ignorance and I hate it. Though I hardly expect this will ever be a raised issue, its always good to remind people.
Courtesy - It's easy to get angry, frustrated or rude, this includes me, I have something of a bad temper and I am sensitive. Its not always easy to apologise and be humble, again I have a problem with this occasionally. So as a professional courtesy I will apologise before-hand in case I do insult or hurt some-one. And I promise to apologise again afterwards, because its in my rules.

Not-So-Serious Rules

Use of OOC - First of all I want to address this. Why do some people put OCC instead of OOC? What does OCC mean anyway? It doesn't mean Out Of Character I know this, so really.. Ahem anyway! In the middle of RPing, I see people like to use OOC speech in Brackets. I don't mind this at all. In fact it can lead to some good humour or a little extra information we may not have known before. But please, never make JUST an OOC post. Throw that here in the actual Out Of Character thread. OOC. See? Not OCC :sarcasm:

Have Fun - An interesting rule that needs some addressing too. Well mostly on my part. You cant have fun if I haven't made this RP fun. So really its more "Poke fun at the GM until the RP is more fun than poking the GM". But I suspect some of you evil people out there find more amusement in poking me than enjoying the RP... I'd threaten to kill Bob so you'll stop, but no-one likes Bob anyway. So I'll threaten to kill Jim instead, bwahaha!

Post Length! - Ooh, now I've got your attention. Should I tell you some really evil insane length?! Or should I be nice..? Oh go on then, I'll be nice. Now, my personal goal in RPing is usually at least two paragraphs. Each paragraph being at least four lines. Unfortunately I sometimes view this as too little information, so I might post lots. Sometimes I'm not provided with a lot of information to respond to so I'll post less.
So at a minimum, I will expect at least a paragraph per character you are using unless they are currently not nearby or for some other reason posting with them seems unnecessary. I trust you to use your common sense. You do HAVE common sense don't you?

Activity - Yes, groan, this is perhaps the most annoying thing to deal with sometimes. I know people have a tendency to wander off to other RPs. This often occurs because people fail to be active enough to keep the ball rolling and make the RP interesting. If we don't stay active, sooner or later we'll drift away from this RP. I really want it to succeed, so please try to be active as much as you can. If people start going inactive even I may abandon it and that's an awful feeling, if you've made an RP, you worked hard on it, probably tired, haven't slept but dedicated your every open-eyed moment to finishing it to a beautiful standard, which I hope this is, you wouldn't want to throw it away so easily, would you?

And finally,
Contacts - A thing about RPs is sometimes an RP requires good communication. And to that end, sharing contact details with one another is essentially a good way to keep the ball rolling. Actively share ideas. Create new ones, plan evil ways to bring my downfall if you have to, but please find some mutual way to contact one another, and me if you can. My contact details are in my Profile, use them. I myself find plotting is easier in a live conversation than over PMs and Thread messaging. Plus we can share our madness quicker, and that is always fun.

Confectioneries - Muffins? Cookies? Cake?! Or is there no cake!?! Share your views with us!

Well that was fun and long, hopefully I kept you interested enough to reach this far. Forgive my over-detailedness... Please?

Races
On Ios there are many lifeforms, but the humans have also added to the roster with some experimentation. Scientists have too much free time, but the results have been surprisingly good. There are two lists. Organics and Synthetics.

Organics
Natural, living breathing organisms that haven't been created except via procreation (or in some cases artificial birthing, but that's mostly a human thing.)

Human - If you need a description for this you obviously aren't human yourself. Humans are an arrogant, bullheaded race whose tenacity and aggressive personalities as well as their rushed personalities make them seem like bullies of sorts. They can be agreeable on many things but also foolish beyond comprehension. However they are an anomaly in that the actions they take in their short lives can affect many things.
Humans, if they are extremely lucky, can live up to 130 standard earth years.
Humans can be surprisingly gifted with magic if they apply themselves.

Siradel - By human terms, they are elves. They show all the traits expected of elves, generally tall, well in tune with nature and magic as well as being gifted rangers. The Siradel are the wisest race on Ios and come in many forms, equally as diverse as humans and Elves from folk tales. Those that dwell in the woods, those who awaken only at night, the prominent High Siradel and their well known Elder Council. Among these many traits they share with elves the pointed ears are also prominent, though vary, some straight up, some flat and stretching out to the sides, some short, some long and always decorated with earrings that show their status within their own communities.
Siradel are born less frequently, but their longevity of up to over 500 standard Earth years makes reproduction less of a necessity.
Siradel are the most gifted in the use of Magic.

Gaignus - A human equivalent from the Ios, perhaps the most physically compatible with humans. Gaignus appear quite human, though are born with dark rings around their necks, arms and legs. As they grow older these rings grow and change depending on how the Gaignus has lived their life, even reflecting their personality. Wild, fit Gaignus would have markings like fire stretch across their limbs. Relaxed quiet Gaignus would have simple soft wavy markings. It is thought no two Gaignus, even twins would ever perfectly have the same markings.
Gaignus are a naturally an athletic people with fairly light skin, their lifespan is around 150 to 200 standard Earth years.
Gaignus do not frequent the use of magic, but do use its energies to enhance their physical abilities.

Lawen - Another highly diverse race. But perhaps the most unusual for they are a race of partly anthropomorphic creatures, ranging from catlike features to almost full-blown tauren bodies. They are mostly a secluded race that avoids the others except where trade is concerned, however have developed an interest in the humans and their technology. They also appear to share personality traits with the animal they seem to represent. Felines would be more graceful, sensitive to water for example.
Lawen live a varying amount of years, ranging from 100 to about 300 standard Earth years.
Lawen have varying proficiencies in the use of magic.

Hybrids - Typically a hybrid of two organic races, traits of both often shared into one being. The possibilities of hybrids are nearly endless. But with the good comes the bad, some are prone to defects, others gain more bad traits from their parents than good. Also, Avatars and Bio-Androids can mate, but the remaining synthetics cannot.

Synthetics
Creatures that have been created in some way or form. Some are totally inorganic, others are lifeforms designed by other lifeforms. It all depends on your viewpoint. Needless to say, these things don't come to be without some tweaking and modifying.

Avatar - A living life form made purely of magic. Its appearance can be totally unique and it requires an inordinate amount of magic to be created. Unlike more typical summons which die when their masters is destroyed (or masters if several creators made it), Avatars live on almost agelessly since the Magic in the air of Ios sustains them.
Avatars can only be killed with physical attacks. Magic only serves as further sustenance. However Dark Magic can hurt them quite nicely due to its magic draining capabilities.
Unfortunately for other races, their use of Magic is also extraordinarily potent since they are made of pure, focused magic themselves, but more fortunately they are limited to a smaller selection of powers and if they use too much they can take of themselves and even kill themselves.
Most avatars cannot be mated with. But some creations have been known to reproduce.

Robot - As it reads on the label. A robot. Robots are a human ingenuity. Powered by Daoden fuel cells or Prisma electric cells. Typical robots are servicemen that perform simple functions but some more sophisticated Robots are often created for more diverse fields such as medical services, military guard-bots or TEARS support units. They don't have emotion, but can be programmed with preset personalities.
Robots are always programmed with the three laws of robotics.
Rule one, never harm a Human.
Rule two, never, through inaction, allow a human to be harmed.
Rule three, A robot may defend itself, except where it conflicts with the two previous two laws.

Robots cannot use magic.

Android - A step up from Robots, Androids are gifted with A.I. Human logical thinking, but restrained so that they wont let it make them question themselves. Androids are given a choice of having the laws of robotics hard-wired or simply studying them and understanding them. But since they are allowed more freedom to choose they are forgiven for disobeying some fo the laws. They are often employed in the TEARS as Officers.Androids can develop their personality and certain traits to define them, they don't choose the traits, they observe and learn until they literally pick favourite ones from humans.
Androids can utilize Element One and turn it into basic non-elemental impact/piercing laser-based magic.

Bio-Android - Can literally be one of any species. They are frequently mistaken as two things, either as Clones, or as Androids. Bio-Androids are not clones in that their DNA structure always turns out unique to them, and they are also genetically tagged so they can be identified. They are also not Androids because they can develop a much more free personality, are not bound by the laws of robotics and are expected to live as long as that which they are a copy of.
The brain of a Bio-Android is in fact a highly compact super computer using a balanced cooling system and a special skull cavity referred to as a Cradle to protect the biology of the Bio-Android. All the necessary chemicals once produced by the brain are synthetically produced as though being produced by a regular brain.
Most Bio-Androids are usually specially designed for medical purposes, with the use of magic, a mind can be transferred to a new body and so a copy Bio-Android of an ailing patient is grown and developed. Such Bio-Androids are only created in the case of fatal injuries, sicknesses, disease and viruses. Use outside of these terms are normally prohibited. So far, however only human minds have been transferred to Bio-Android bodies. Since they are the only race that have been experimented with in the transference of the mind.
Bio-Androids are just as capable as what they are a copy of in the use of magic.

AI Human - Not often referred to, AI Humans are still an experimental creation for they are the result of a human mind being totally converted into data. The process has so far only been tested on human beings, the results are varying however. AI Humans are typically the result of a human mind being transferred to a Bio-Android. The in-between state. However, some AI Humans have been used in security systems and independent intelligence networks, however the most famous AI Human of Super City Halcyon is iCorena.

Factions

As with any large community there will always be smaller independent clusters within it or outside it. There are many more that can be listed, but those that are listed often do change the shape of events or otherwise affect the development of the Super City Halcyon.
The Council - Headed by Malzel Girardot, The Council is the ruling body of Super City Halcyon. The council consists of at least one member each from the non-synthetic races.
Additionally, each Council member must choose a protégé to learn from them and observe as well as sometimes being asked for their personal thoughts on a decision or a debate.

TEARS - Tactical Encounter and Armoured Response Squadrons. They are both the Military and Police Force of Halcyon City. Though they are divided into Military and Police sectors, they both answer to the Laws set by the Council.
Most importantly they serve three important rules;
First, Serve the public trust.
Second, Protect the innocent.
Third, Uphold the law.

This set of rules is taught to them as a mantra, each day when signing in they are required to say it. Before heading out to do their job they must say it once. And in a combat situation to calm themselves down it is often also said.

Peoples Voice - A secondary council that have no direct authority but whose debates and discussions are watched by the Council itself. The Peoples Voice often consists of concerned citizens those looking for change others looking for improvements or sharing fresh ideas.
Although they have no legal authority, they are often listened to by the Council and actions are often taken to satisfy them. For it is the people whom are important in this new world.

GenoCorp - A company established alongside Super City Halcyon. It is responsible with such innovations as the Prisma Energy cells and converters that powered the Halcyon's electrical systems and the creation of the unique Daoden crystal fuel that powered its engines. Now they produce many things from Robots to Bio-Androids, AI Humans to the weapons and armour of the TEARS Military Police.

Splatter Punks - The general troublemakers of Halcyon. Their existence is to be expected. Cant have the good without the bad, unfortunately these bad guys have friends from the other races. Splatter Punks are generally violent, troublesome, and many, but they lack organization so are also sometimes quite easy to catch off guard. Their sheer numbers, however, assure there will be followers for some generations to come. Their symbol is a red splatter of blood, frequently spray-painted into their victims or on walls.

Shadow Hand - A more organized crime syndicate, their leaders are smart, more organized and proficient when it comes to the voiding of the law. The Shadow Hand all make a point of marking themselves with a black open-palmed hand tattoo. The Shadow Hand often deal in assassinations, hit squads and blackmail and cover their tracks quite well. Although they are smaller in number compared to splatter punks, they are also considered much more dangerous since they can often get their hands on GenoCorp products via less than favourable means.

Magic
This area will explain the different magic types. Although, human scientists have discovered it is a neurologically controlled chemical, abundant in the atmosphere of Ios, which they have labelled Element One. Element One has been discovered to multiply itself within the atmosphere in Ios as well as work its way into living creatures and there saturating their body in Element One. However only sentient beings seem fully capable of harnessing it and obviously there appears to be no side effects. It is theorised that if a person were to leave the planet, they would continue to be able to harness that which is referred to more commonly as Magic.

As expected of magic there is a cycle of elements, each with its own uses and disadvantages. Utilizing each element effectively and accurately can lead to many victories, though many find they are only capable of controlling a few elements, there are indeed masters out there capable of learning to use all forms of magic. The way in which elements are manipulated can all be down to the imagination of the user. Though basic lessons are always taught to form, control and manipulate elements, a magic user is always encouraged to find their own unique ways of using magic.
Each mastered element also seems to exhibit a variety of small perks on the user. To this end each element and the perks they provide will be listed.
Each mastered element always provides the user with a measure of resilience to said element, Holy not included.

Basic Elements - They're pretty much everywhere.
Fire - the ability to control fire, it provides a master of it with a minor strength boost.
Wind - the ability to control wind, it provides a master of it with a lightness that they may access, allowing them to jump greater lengths or fall greater distances than average.
Water - a two tone element that offers the ability to control water or ice, provides a master of it with additional physical agility and fluidity.
Earth - the ability to control earth, provides a master of it with greater physical endurance.
Lightning - the ability to control lightning, provides a master of it with surprising alacrity and some aptitude with electronics.

Advanced Elements - Respect those who wield these.
Dark - the ability to control darkness, giving it physical form to attack an opponent with, darkness drains a target of their magical capability and weakens them, it also provides a master of it with a dark force shield that wards off damage from the five previous elements.
Holy - the bane of Dark magic wielders, one can control a celestial light that pierces dark force shields. It is a general magic that is used frequently to heal wounds and dispel sicknesses, poisons and Dark magic. Provides the user with an aura of soft light that protects them from Dark magic.

Unusual Elements - Be wary around those who wield these.
Void - A rare, violent magic that is considered chaotic and unpredictable, the user can tear open holes in space and step through them to different locations nearby as well as use them to attack enemies from unbelievable angles, some void magic users can harness the power of a miniature black hole (with varying levels of difficulty) and cause devastating damage to a small area (worst case ten people can be crushed into the black hole in a matter of five seconds before it vanishes). Provides the master of it with a negative field that dispels all magic other than Dark, Holy and Non-Elemental.
Non-Elemental - Technically an easily usable (but highly misunderstood and difficult to master) form of magic, none-elemental magic appears as various coloured beams or even orbs of light, they are pure kinetic force, but you only control the beam or orb. Used properly it can demolish buildings, move heavy objects, pierce holes through a body or tear it to pieces. A master of it suffers little from the draining effects of Dark Magic and gains an innate ability to sense the level of power other people have.
