Soooo, things may have gotten quite a little out of hand today with a friend that came over to visit my place because I haven't seen him for years (and he's a family friend that I grew up with). I really don't wanna describe it, but basically here are my questions.

1) Have you taken emergency contraception?

2) If so, did it work?

I really, really, really don't want to get pregnant. Like, we didn't do much. I kicked my friend off of me as soon as possible, after 5 seconds (yes, five SECONDS) but I'm pretty sure there was some pre-ejaculation.

I bought some ECP and took them right away after doing research about it...

3) Do you guys think I'm gonna get pregnant?

I've never actually had to take that pill, but I've heard a fair bit about it.
First of all, props for being responsible ^^ It's probably pretty unlikely that you would have gotten pregnant anyway (pre-ejaculate has very little actual sperm, if any) but it's always best to take all the precautions you can. Emergency contraception has a fairly high success rate (I think it's 70-80%? Not quite sure on the numbers) so I'd say your chances of getting pregnant are quite slim.

Although the pill will apparently screw up your period to high heaven for the next while, so you should watch out for that.

My period's already screwed up. I'm quite irregular and I take the pill just to have it regular. Unfortunately I need to order a refill anyway.

8/9 women do not get pregnant after taking a EC.

And since, like you said, you only went for five seconds, I doubt there was much pre-cum or anything of the sort, if anything. So I can say you're more than likely to be okay.

BUT your hormones will be crazy about a week after taking it, and you'll notice you're having an early period, which for me, lasted a couple of days, and then my period that was scheduled came, which was 2 weeks after the early one. Bleeding is a good sigh which showed that the EC did its job, so there's no need to worry.

I also broke out a lot after taking a EC, which I blame that on the hormones.

Yeah I'm totally praying for my period! Thanks. Is it normal to feel bloated a day after though? 'Coz I've been feeling that way all day, although thank God I'm not nauseated.

No offense meant... but a little of it could be mental. You could be all freaked out, and producing subconscious symptoms because you are worried.

All I can reccomend is if you haven't, use one of those 'home tests' to check if you're pregnant, if you want, but go ahead and use the 'morning after' pill IF you can get it.
Some places will not give it to you just because you want to prevent a pregnancy.
I dunno what rules they have where you are, but I have heard horror stories of girls here, in California, trying to get it and being denied because they didn't have "Serious need" (in other words, because they had sex of their own free will and weren't raped or something awful)

Really, don't take this the wrong way. I am trying to give advice... but sometimes I come off too cold and logical...

No, it's no problem. My best friend says she's 99.9999999999999999...% sure I'm pregnant and just freaking out.

*hugs Mar-Mar* Most likely my dear, you are not pregnant. But freaked out as you are, every little thing that happens to you is going to make you wonder. You wouldn't be getting instant morning sickness. If not much happened and you already took the pill, just count on your level head to get you through this.

Also, drink lots of acidic juices. Pineapple and orange juice. You can turn your body into a very hostile environment for anything that should want to try and nest there. A woman's bodies are already pretty hostile, but an increase in vitamin C intake can make it more so. It can't hurt, but it can help.

Oh man, orange juice. I'll be throwing that up in no time, so I'll try that. And lemonade. Thank you, Cookie dearest!

Don't let her scare you like that. It's very unlikely that you're pregnant from 5 seconds of sex. If a month from now you haven't had a real period, have soreness in your boobs, possible nausea, or any other strange symptoms, take a home pregnancy test. I had a baby and remember that first month very well. Whatever you do, try not to stress. Either way, everything will be okay.

There's always vitamin C tablets if you're still paranoid. Eat them like candy for a day or two ^_^;;

Then again, it seems to be healthy to have vitamin C. I'd have to ingest more than the normal daily dosages.

Do you know that medicaly only one of 500 sex acts using no contraceptive at all ends with a pregnancy? ;D

sorry - I study medicine, and love topics like this.
I understand how you feel - I am a woman myslef (avi is a boy, because it looks better he-he). But if there was no ejeculation you shouldn't worry that much. A pre-cum might contain sperms if the man have had ejeculated a few hours before the sex act and haven't pissed and his sperm is high quallity. Woman who do get pregnant from pre-cum usually practise the "pull out" method which is not safe at all.

As you've taken the pill I'd say that chances of you getting pregnant is less than 0,01%, because, as I understant, there was no reall sex act and you don't have a regular cycle. Woman is fertile only 8-24 hours during her period and that's why getting pregnant is so hard. But she is most "horny" at that time, what makes it so easy for some and they get
"lucky" at the first time ;D

Really don't worry. If your period won't come remember that the pill might have screwed-up and probably will have done it. The after morning pill is VERY bad for the woman and is not recommended to be used more than 2-3 times in your entire life. If you think that something similar can happen to you again consult your doctor for regular birth-control pills - they have bad side effects, too, but drinking them for a few years would not make you such damage as one after morning pill.

again - you are not pregnant. If you are, then think about how much some baby wants you to be his/her mother, because it should have had managed not only to reach your egg (in a normal ejeculation only 30-100 spems manage to do that (and there are millions of them)) then to fertilize it (only about 10-20 of those that reached the egg still have energy), not mentioning that he might have found nothing, but also that the fertilized egg managed to implant iself into the utherus - about 30-40% of fertilized eggs fail to do that. :>

I know this is off-topic from the original thread, but ENORCA's words there just makes me realize how special a baby really is, and it makes me so mad how some women can just pop 'em out like they're baked goods from an oven, and just throw them away...
Personally, I have always wanted to become a stay-at-home mom and have at least two kids...

All contraception pills contain enough hormones for your body to act like it's pregnant for a while. Don't worry about the bloating, and if you start getting hungry at weird times, that's ok too. I had to take the Morning After pill once myself. (condom broke)
Although for me it wasn't one pill, it was two, one immediately, and one like... I think 12 hours later?

Don't worry, you'll be fine. This is why my mom suggested to me and my brother when we hit the right age that we just carry concoms around with us... "just in case".

We both told her she was nuts, because neither of us had any prospects or were even LOOKING for that kind of fun.... but.... Just in case means things happen sometimes that you weren't expecting, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

I must admit, I lol'd a bit. I know, it's really a very serious matter to you though. I've been there. Not fun. The best advice? DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Stressing over "OMG I could be preggo!" will not help the situation. One time I stressed about it so much that I kept my period from coming, which only reinforced my suspicions.

Don't stress over it. Really. Just remember to wrap it up next time, k? Or better yet, get some BC. It is my savior. =3

I can't have kids as of 3 months ago so I know how you feel. I mourned a bit when I found out I had to have a hysterectomy, but it's better than dying. If you (the OP) do become pregnant against all odds I hope things work out for you.

The success rate for the emergency contraception pill is super high, but the longer you wait to take it, the more that success rate drops. I've never taken it before, this is just all based off of research I've done on the subject of birth control. As for whether or not you'll get pregnant... well, you found that answer already. :P
