I do. Alot.

I can't help it, it helps me think...sort of like a checklist.

It's funny when somebody thinks I'm talking to them, and I have to explain that, no, I was not talking to you, I was talking to myself, and no, I do not need help. :illgetu:

i know what you mean! it's more like thinking aloud, though. like, i'll be thinking and i'll say a bunch of stuff aloud. i never notice until i've been talking for a while. like, let's say i was walking down the street, and thinking about something. i'll start saying stuff aloud, and i never notice until it's been a few minutes, and THEN i notice how people are looking at me. or i'll start contradicting myself, or, um...i guess you could call it "arguing" with my mind. like saying "ugh, there is no way that will work!"....i'm not as crazy as it sounds! my friend noticed once, and asked why i was talking to myself. i was watching somebody that was trying to do something, and every time they missed or whatever, id say "ooh, so close!" or something to that degree. i didnt even realise i was talking out loud. i hate when people see me talking and think i was talking to them. i hate saying "no, i wasnt talking to you. i was talking to me!". it makes me sound so insane. i've gotta be careful not to think about anything embarrassing in public. i wouldnt want to start muttering bad stuff aloud.
it helps me think too. but i hate it when i'm trying to do something and getting frustrated and start cussing under my breath. who knows how long i've been mumbling or what i was saying?! like, when i couldnt get my locker open, and i was late for class. i started saying "come on, damn it! open already! i did put the fuckin' combination in right!" *attempts to yank locker open* "damn! stupid fuckin' combo lock..." *smacks the locker door* "hurry up, i'm fuckin' late!" and stuff like that before i realised i was talking and shut my mouth. it made it sound like i was talking to my locker....thankfully, hardly anyone was in the hallway.

Not out loud, just in my head, but not that much. My friend talks to herself a lot and I think she's talking to me, but she isn't.

yes and no. I have whole conversations with myself, in my head sometimes... and, occasionally they're in french  (which I'm not. took classes in High School that's all), but every now and then I've been caught talking out loud to myself when other people are around. I'm not embarrassed by it though, because they usually just ask me to repeat myself since they couldn't understand what i was saying in the first place. I refuse of course.

Mostly I talk to inanimate objects.

I don't talk to myself out loud very often, but I will make hand gestures or facial expressions to go along with what I'm thinking. That can get awkward.

@legos on the floor- i do that too! yes, it is embarrassing!

@Aryah_Jade- i also talk aloud to innanimate objects. it bugs the hell out of me when somebody comes up to me and asks what i'm talking about and why im talking to them. uurrgg....i hate explaining that i was not talking to anyone.

i also hold conversations with myself in my head. at first it was a way to keep myself entertained during all the stupid reviews in class, but now it's a habit. yeah, and sometimes i say my replies out loud, literally talking to myself. one day i'm gonna be walking down the street and some little kid's gonna say "mommy, look at that crazy lady!" cuz i'll be talking to nobody but me. again, im not as crazy as it sounds!

@Navy: But arguing with yourself can be so fun! Either way, you'll win. :XD

@Twilight: Miauen enjoys talking in third person. Miauen finds it amusing.

And talking to inanimate objects is another bad habit. My locker, pens that don't work, and anything that causes me grief.

I... I have conversations with myself...
And as other people too... I guess it helps curb my loneliness sometimes...

I go back and forth with my self quite a bit, like I'll be on the phone with my boyfriend and I'll just start talking at random to my self, then eventually he'll ask who I'm talking to and then I'll have to explain to him that I just was talking to my self. ^ ^ I think that its worst thing is when I'm at a store with my mom and she starts talking to me and I don't hear her, so I walk away and she's still talking to him.

I do talk to myself. It helps me figure things out . I also can get into some really heated arguments with myself when I mess up.

yep! I talk to myself all the time. Sometimes I talk to myself but for other people benefit. Like....Man, I have no idea how to do this!! Or something...but I have lots of voices I talk to in my head. Thankfully, I only talk to myself outloud not to my 'inner voices'. I'm not Schizophrenic, really....

Omgosh, all the time! In my head, out loud, whatever! I do it! =)

It's been a habit for awhile, and my friends and family are used to it.~

It does freak strangers out a bit, sometimes, though~=o!

Yes. :3 ..because sometimes the only one who understands, is yourself. ..I agree though that some people do it out of lonliness. I'm always asked if I'm talking to someone, because I have a soft voice and I hardly speak up-to me I think I'm yelling. ><; ..dad makes up funny words though, of what he thought he heard me saying. XD Like "Hello daddy" translates to: "Lobafy" He says I talk in another language. @[email protected]

I do talk to myself occasionally, but not often. I tend to do it more when I'm left home alone for a while. I suppose it's true that when you're alone you tend to want to hear a voice, even if it's your own.

But more often, I talk to things that can't talk back. I speak crossly to the dog and cuss at him. I snark at the television. I yell at objects that are 'misbehaving' in some way- either I tripped over them, or they're not working right, or something.

Oh, I do that, too. Frequently. I don't even realize I'm doing it. It's hard for me to imagine talking out loud without being aware of it, yet my facial expressions and hand gestures generally speak my thoughts for me.

The back of a Herbal Essences bottle told me this amazing fact:

Quote:
Q:Who do you talk to more than anyone else?
A: Yourself.
So its pretty natural to talk to yourself everyone does it. I do it all the time in work when someone makes a big order and im putting it through the till.

There isn't anything wrong with talking to yourself, just about everyone does it.
I do it quite often.

while most people do talk to themselves, usually its in their head, or at home by themselves. and yes, talking to myself amuses me. but i dont like how i look like im actually insane if i go to far. like once i was in a bad mood already when i tripped over something, a skateboard, and fell flat on my face. in my irritation, i nearly shouted "stupid skateboard! jeez, who the hell left you here anyway?!" and a few other things, i think, before i realised i wasnt just thinking, and then i thanked god that nobody was home! and, you can tell i read to much from this, but i have another bad habit. when i think, my mind always adds "she said" or "she thought" or "i thought" and etc., also adding my emotion at the end. like "she thought in irritation" and etc. it annoys me, it seems so abnormal, but i cant get my brain to just shut the fuck up already! *wow, that sounded crazy!* i do hold conversations with myself, my brain always starts it up, and i answer aloud, usually. if im stressing, i do that a lot, and argue with my mind, and end up pissed no matter what. ive managed to keep almost all of my, er, arguments, to myself, in my head. i hate it when im thinking about a song, i've caught myself often just singing the song under my breath, or saying how much i love that song right out loud. i did that earlier today. XD
