Welcome to Kings of Olde!
Here, I am the king of a grand realm. However, there is a lot of trouble brewing. You see, monsters have started to attack my kingdom! That said, the chosen course of action is to call for brave Heroes, like yourselves to join in the defense of my kingdom. I beg you, save my kingdom and find out why the monsters are attacking! That said, I only hope that there are no villains or rogues amongst you who wish my kingdom ill.

Basically, I run things. My character would be that of the king. You may refer to me as any of the following: My leige, My lord, Sire, your highness, etc.
Your role is one of the following in this world
1) A brave hero to aid in the defense of the kingdom.
2) A villain who wishes the destrucion of the kingdom
3) (At your own risk) A peasant, shopkeeper, or any other person who would live in this kingdom as a resident.

The rules are simple:
1) you will follow all of the basic Menewsha rules.
2) you will not godmod.
3) you will keep it PG13
4) PM your profile to me using this skeleton. The PM title should be "Kings of Olde"

Your name: (fill in the blank)
Age: (number goes here)
Gender: (one of two, lets keep things simple.)
Appearance: (describe it or add a picture or both if you like.)
Race: (Elf? Dwarf? Fairy? Human? the list goes on!)
Loyalty: (Are you loyal to the king, or some other power?)
Background: (Why did you come to this kingdom? Where are you from? Your past?)
Skills/Abilities: (Magical powers? A sword? Do you build things? Swim? Fly?)
Personality: (Are you shy? Bold? Are you mean spirited or kind? etc.)
Home: (You aren't a hobo, are you? Do you stay at an inn? Have a house? Are you staying at the guild?)
Other: (Did I not cover something you wanted to say? Say it here!)
Owned by: (IE: Saros. But lets use your name.)

Easy, yeah? I'm going to go rather easy and let this be pretty free form.
The layout of the kingdom is not important, if you need a blacksmith to repair something or you need an inn and are not sure of one, make one and name it. This kingdom has it all!
Since there are a lot of heroes showing up to aid the kingdom, we have constructed buildings to the 'Heroes Guild' where heroes may have a place to rest and keep their things. Every guild building is gaurded from theft, so your things should be safe.
Just a heads up now before we get things going.
This is a fantasy era of course! But, no technology. Things like bombs are cutting edge. Fantasy races are quite ok, within reason.
Keep in mind, no kingdom is perfect and death does happen on occasion. This has been compensated for by the temple who, at my command, will revive any hero slain after we have recovered the body.
This is not to say that I expect you to die, but I thought it wise to inform you of the worst case scenario.

We will have moderators, they will have many titles to be sure. I will select moderators. If you wish to be a moderator let me know. Even if you do not ask I may extend an offer for you to be one, feel free to decline if you don't want to do it.

Silver is the currency here, you all start with 100 silver in addition to your basic equipment that you have. Should said equipment break, you can buy new stuff or even a spare set if you like.

You may post after I accept your profile.

Special shops/items for sale in the kingdom.

The General Goods Store:
Healing potion: 10 Silver
Mana Potion: 10 Silver
Basic weapons/armor : 25 Silver
Masterwork weapons/armor: 50 silver (these are much higher quality than normal items of their kind, and will not break easily.)

The Magic Shop:
Enchantments available for weapons:
Boomerang - when thrown the weapon will return to owner (150 silver)
Flaming - the weapon will catch fire at the user's command/The weapon will do bursts of flame when striking (like the guildmaster's axe) (250 silver)

Armor enchantments:
Trolls Blood - This enchantment slowly heals the wearer over time (200 silver)
Reinforced - This enchantment makes armor strudy, and hard to break. Effectivly doubling its durability (75 silver)

Misc magic items:
Ring of magic protection - This ring protects the wearer from basic magic attacks. It will not negate the attack, it will merely lessen the results a little. (IE: fireball won't be quite as painful as it normally would) (150 silver)

Ring of regeneration - This ring heals the wearer quickly, to a maximum. The power of this ring is limited and it will run out after healing severe wounds. After if runs out of power it becomes a normal ring. (150 silver)

Heroes:

Your name: Cross Road
Age: Does not remember
Gender: Male
Appearance: A lower body made of billowing black smoke, an upper body of pale, cracked stone, similar to porcelain, a spiked collar with a chain hanging down the front, a black and white masquearade mask, long, ragged black hair with a white streak
Race: Wraith
Loyalty: Not loyal to one specific person or power, but generally upholds the ideals of justice
Background: Cross is one very unfortunate soul indeed. Bound to this earth by some unknown curse, he is unable to pass on. Worse, he has been robbed of his memories. He only remembers waking up under soil, and floating up to find a tombstone with his name on it. He seeks to discover his past and find a way to move on to the other side.
Skills/Abilities: Can fly, to some extent, and is skilled with the use of his scythe
Personality: Lonesome, prone to guilt, pensive
Home: Cross wanders the land, without home or shelter, forever cursed to walk the earth until he finds a way out.
Other: His 'skin' has the curious property of cracking in the presence of sadness. This does him no harm, and 'heals' as soon as the sadness is gone. However, he can still be wounded by other means and receive damage, and cannot heal on his own; magical means must be used to repair his hide. Furthermore, if he dies, his consciousness will vanish instead of passing on, due to his curse, though he may be 'revived' still.

Your name: Raisa
Age: 127
Gender: Girl
Appearance: Raisa has long and messy white hair, black skin, and bright red eyes. Generally, Raisa wears a long, short-sleeved jacket with some pants, a tunic underneath and some gloves and shoes. She wears a belt with a few small pouches to hold spell components and carries a backpack with the remainder of her belongings. She also has a dagger at her side, but often forgets about it. She never uses the thing. The second image shows her in what she would wear to meetings that the mage's guild has. She thinks it looks cool. But, really, it just makes her look like a Final Fantasy person...
http://www.unowen.net/tegaki/images/...5767-10023.png

Race: Dark elf.
Loyalty: Loyal to the mage's guild most of all, but also to the king.
Background: Raisa was found in the woods by a druid when she was young. She doesn't know this, but she was supposed to be a sacrifice to stop a certain prophecy. But, lucky for her, she was saved! The druids were originally going to train her as one of them, so she speaks the druidic language, but she had no talent at all with the clerical sort of magic. Instead, she was sent off to an old adventuring buddy of one of the druids to train as a mage.... Where she has been until just recently. When the king called out for heros from all over the land to come and help, Raisa just had to go to research magic at a different guild... Err... Help out the king.
Skills/Abilities: Magical powers? Yes. But no other powers. If Raisa were to use her dagger, she'd be the only one hurt.
Personality: Raisa is a friendly mage. She's often chatty and considers everyone that she's spoken to as a friend. No, she's not stupid. In fact, Raisa is extremely intelligent. She was just last in line for common sense and wisdom. My point? She doesn't have any. At all. It wouldn't be surprising if she got into one of those white unmarked vans with some suspicious people who asked if she wanted some candy. Could anyone fall for something that cliched? Raisa could. She trusts everyone she meets. As stated above, they're all her friends~!
Home: Mage's guild in a neighboring city, but will be staying at the mage's guild in this city.

Skills/Abilities: She is a weather worker (controls rain and stuff) and can use dagger okay in hand to hand combat.
Personality: She is a mixture of outgoing, sardonic, and secretive.
Home: She wanders around and prefers to sleep in trees or on clouds.

Background: Alexandria's past is no longer important to her. What is important to her though is finding a way to seperate death's spirit from her body without passing it on through child birth.
Skills/Abilities: Her scythe provides her several abilities like black magic and transportation of many kinds... it can also be used as a weapon that steals a little of her opponents life energy with each strike. Death's spirit keeps her from dying but she is in no way undefeatable. When her body sustains enough damage she can go into a coma only able to be brought out of it by an external source.

He gets to know the locals then slaughters them leaving few alive to tell the tale, thus create distrust among the people. His goal? Well, that is a secret... let us just say that the Dark Lord doesn't have his total loyalty.
Skills/Abilities: A master of illusions, he can trap his enemies in any illusion. However, the illusion is taken from the person's deepest desires. He is very skilled in hand to hand combat, with a sword and sickle. He does have a transformation into a demon but it slowly kills his sanity so he tends to use it as a last resort.

Personality: He is pretty easy going, a very friendly person but when it comes down to it he loves to cause chaos and take advantage of people. If he saves you, its because he wants something from you or to kill you himself. He is very intelligent, he does not likes to be compared to ordinary criminals seeing himself more as cleansing the world of useless trash.
Home: Hobo? That is such a harsh word, more like a wandering nomad.
Other: He loves to drink wine because he can never get drunk (he tried and failed miserably) and he dislikes being called "Sweetie"

Other: Cordain does not work with the thieves guild, instead he views them as amature at best.

Your name: The Good Baron Armand Senvire

Age: 203

Gender: Male

Appearance: Armand looks as he did when he was young, save that his hair is a soft and feathery white. He has bright, acidic green eyes and appears to be in his early twenties. He has very pale skin and, of course, his canine teeth are horribly sharp.

Race: Vampire

Loyalty: Armand is loyal to, mostly himself, but also to the Senvire vampire clan who turned him into the rich and powerful being he currently is.

Background: Armand was a mage who wanted power more than anything in the world. He studied and studied until he thought his eyes would fall out of their sockets. He turned into a teacher's pet quite quickly. He was bullied... Or people tried to bully him; Armand loved to feed off of the hatred of the others, he loved to see the greed and anger on their faces. As it is said of those born with talent, Armand had the potential to use his studies and his power to become either an angel or a demon.
After his years at the academy, Armand managed to find his way into the powers and politics of fairly small kingdom east of where he studied. He was trusted by the king and given the title of 'Baron'. He made a deal with a vampire, later to become one himself. He then turned and killed the vampire that had turned him by shoving the elder into the sun. (Now he would have no one to answer to.)
Now, his manor is shared between himself and the current kingdom's "Baron." This Baron, though, is like a puppet who answers to Armand. The vampire set up this system ages ago.

Skills/Abilities: Armand is a vampire. Not only a vampire, but an incredibly skilled mage. But, he does have his weaknesses. While he can cast a number of the low level spells with just the flick of a wrist, he cannot be in direct sunlight. If he were to walk into the light for some crazy reason, he would feel dazed and dizzy and need to get out of that light within the minute, lest he be turned to dust. Also, if he is held under running water, he will also disintegrate. Fairly slowly, but it could kill him. He doesn't particularly like holy symbols and cannot approach someone forcefully holding one out to him. Though, a person cannot use it to corner him with. Armand, like other vampires, has a coffin hidden away somewhere. Also, he will not die unless he is killed in one of the two ways stated above. If he is 'killed' by more 'normal' means, then he will slowly turn to mist and float back to his coffin, where he will revive himself. Vampires also regenerate faster than trolls, but, like the trolls, is weak to fire. He does not eat and does not need to drink blood. Though, doing so would completely heal him. The person who he drank from would not become a vampire, but would most likely die. Armand can control bats and rats and has a few vampire spawn created to do his bidding. They are completely loyal to Armand and have a sort of monstrous look to them.

Personality: A truly twisted individual, Armand is the towns Baron, though only a few people know this. He both looks and acts like an aristocrat, though there is something behind his expressions that would terrify even the bravest. He is the type that would walk into a noisy room only to silence it with his presence alone. When he speaks, people listen. Perhaps it is the charm of the parasite he has become? Armand uses the laws to his advantage and sometimes to the advantage of the thieves' guild. But, again, there is a darkness and chill behind his expressions. People speaking to Armand know they are treading on thin ice.... Even if they were invited to be his guest. But, surely, the gentleman Armand would not harm a guest.... Right?

Home: Armand lives in the manor of the Baron and Baroness. The mansion was built by himself when he was the 'real' Baron. He no longer really leaves the mansion, he doesn't need to.

Other: Armand, as stated above, owns a mansion. The mansion, of course, has the slightly hidden corridors for the servants to get around the building a bit more quickly in. It also has very well hidden secret corridors that lead throughout the building in a complex maze. After searching these halls for an hour or more, one might be unlucky enough to stumble upon a small passageway that leads to a labyrinth. This labyrinth leads, again, further underground into Armands most secret of chambers. Here is where he performs any summonings or ceremonies. There is a room a bit farther in which contains a coffin and some treasures. Unknown to even his minions, though, is that this coffin is the sleeping place of a mummy. It is nearly impossible for even Armand to locate the passage that leads to his actual coffin's room.

The Beginning: Day one.
Weather: light rain.

The workers tend to their jobs despite the rain. The kings oders were clear, and the main guild hall needs to be finished today. Several of the city gaurd are on patrol, yesterday a troll came in and nearly destroyed one of the watch towers. By the end of the day, three people were dead. This kind of thing had gone on for almost three weeks now, but the first of the heroes should be arriving today. Maybe things would change for the better...

Cross entered the village, his ethereal matter making practically all movement silent. He darted about the shadows, lurking under carts and ducking into alleyways. It would not be the least bit pleasant if humans saw him in his true form; they would most likely wish to run him out of the village. However, he had business here, and therefore could not merely continue hiding...

At last, he had found his chance; a clothesline was strung from a hut on the fringe of the village to a grand apple tree. Upon it, blowing defiantly in the breeze, was a large, black blanket. It was uncertain if the ebony cloth was dry or not, but such things did not matter to the deceased. What mattered was that it could hide his form. Checking to see if anyone would see first, he darted behind the tree.

He was so close... He would just have to wait until the woman's back was turned... He certainly hoped he would not be discovered before then...

Nobody took notice of the wraith, if anyone did they thought it a trick of the mind. With the rain nobody took notice of the shadow that darted from place to place, besides there were a lot of preperations to do. Construction was going smoothly, perhaps with the rain some of the monsters would stay in their lairs. Its not like monsters particularly mind the rain, but most people don't study monsters that much.
A servant of the king ran into the building site, he was putting up posters informing the heroes on how to proceed in being recognized... although he was supposed to have done it two hours ago. These posters merely stated that anyone interested in the position of hero would have to speak with the guildmaster before they would be officially recognized. Once recognized they would be intitled to 100 silver coins to get them started, and a ring that represented their membership in the guild. Most peasants didn't want the job, though they could still take it. Going about one's daily work is easier, and safer, than fighting monsters... usually.

The spirit took a deep breath before lunging out at the line, pouncing on the flailing cloth the way a cat would tackle its prey. He landed in a rolling motion behind a caravan, where he then quickly wrapped it around himself. Looking down, he was pleased to find only the rare tendril of smoke would escape the cloth. Looking around, he was even more pleased that many were distracted by the merchant on the other side of the caravan.

Shuffling about with a soft whisk-whisk-whisk, Cross paused at a posted paper on the side of a local tavern. The Heroes Guild; truly, that was his intent, but not his method. For him to join a guild that could quite possibly have a vendetta against creatures such as himself... Well, it is reasonable to say that a decision of that matter was akin to madness. Nay, Cross had a more risky venture in mind... One that, though dangerous, had a better chance of working.

Making his way to a guard at the King's castle, he bowed as deep as he could before addressing the steel-clad gentleman. "Most good and gracious guard of His Royal Highness, I humbly request the knowledge of how one receives and audience with the Lord King of this land. Tell me this information that I seek, and I shall reward you with fifty and one-hundred gold pieces, good sir."

(A sibling wishes to use this computer, and the other ones in this domicile are presently occupied. I shall continue roleplaying on the morrow, good sir. Until then, fare thee well.)

The palace gaurd was surprised when a cloaked figure made an attempt at bribery. After all, he had been hand picked by the king for his loyalty and bravery. It was almost an outrage, but with the heroes showing up there would be all kinds and he had his orders. Snapping to attention the gaurd boldly stated the following: "If you have business with the king, he is waiting in the throne room. Any interested are welcome, but please leave your weapons at the gate."

Bowing as deeply as possible, Cross handed the man the one hundred and fifty gold coins he promised, and laid his scythe at the man's feet. How he could have stored a scythe of that length in his impromptu cloak would be considered a mystery by most humans; being ethereal warranted unique properties to one's inventory, after all. He then made his way to the King's throne room, with guidance from the occasional guard, and bowed before the man. As Cross spoke, he made sure to utter every word with the utmost reverence.

"A thousand praises to my Lord and Liege, King of this land and all within in. I have come seeking audience for a most unique occurence, one of which only His Lordship would be able to handle with his vast wisdom and understanding of things."

The king sat on his throne as a visitor was brought in. The man bowed and spoke very highly of his majesty. Interested in what this man might have to say, the king leaned forward and spoke the following: "This occurence, of what nature is it? I bid you, explain and continue."
The king then whispered to one of his servants, who then quickly bowed and left. Moments later the royal advisor came in and stood by his king. The king and his advisor had been friends since childhood, if this was troubling news they would want to discuss it and possible courses of action.

"My Lord, forgive my impertinence for demanding something of you. Please do not be alarmed for what I am about to reveal, for it is the very nature of my visit, and the matter on which I need your council."

Cross hesitated at first, but then removed his cloak. The rolling black mist of his lower body rolled out in a wave, no longer contained by the cloth, and his stony skin gleams pale in the light. His hair, too seemed to move on it own will, waving on a phantom wind. Cross raised his head slightly to the King, the eyes of his mask locking on to the eyes of the throned man.

"I am not of this world, your Lordship. I have died, though I do not know how long ago that event was. I remember naught of my past, or even who I am. I only know my name, my Lord, by the burial marker at which I awoke. Something is holding me to this earth, and I believe it unnatural."

He paused when he realized he had not yet told the King his name. Bowing so his face touched the floor, he said "Forgive me, my Lord, a thousand pardons! In my panic I was too excited to share my name! I am known as Cross. Cross Road. At least, that is what my tombstone said..."

Cross cleared his throat, then continued, rising a bit more, but maintaining his bow. "I am no monster, Your Majesty, but many people in this kingdom assume that on sight, and try to do me harm. I mean no ill will to your people; I merely seek out what curse binds me here, so I may break it, and deliver the one responsible to justice. To do this, I must travel without fear of attack from the citizens of the kingdom, which is why I humbly ask something of you. O Fair and Wise King, I humbly beg that you grant me a letter of recommendation to the Guild of Heroes, so that my circumstance will not bar my entry, and so I can do what I can to discover who I am. I pledge my allegiance to Your Highness and His Most Esteemed Land, and its people, and offer my services in return for aid in my quest. Most Gracious Lord, what say you?" He bowed ever deeper, trembling with emotion as he awaited an answer.

The king was very taken aback at first, but as he absorbed the story he began to understand. After Cross had finished his tale the king looked at his Advisor, who nodded his approval. The king then stood up and motioned for a servant to bring him the royal seal.
"Sir Cross, your situation is quite dire. In return for your assistance in protecting my kingdom you will have my aid in finding the source of this curse." The servant then stepped towards Cross, somewhat uneasily, and handed him a sealed letter of recomendation to the Guildmster as well as a ring with the royal seal on it. "With this ring none will question you, as it is a symbol of my royal decree. So long as you have this, the people of this kingdom will know you are one of my servants and will treat you thusly." After a moment the king added "You have my trust Cross, do not betray it." The advisor seemed to agree, but as the situation didn't seem to need his attention he took a bow and left the main hall.

"You have my undying gratitude, O Glorious King." Realizing what he said, Cross then laughed a bit nervously as he then said "No pun intended, my Lord." With one final bow, Cross left the King's Chambers, donning the ring and the cloak once more.

Upon exiting, he retrieved his scythe from the guardsman, and gave him an extra one hundred gold coins. "Good sir, you do not know how much it means to me to have gained an audience with His Lordship. Please, take this token of gratitude and have a good day." Before the guard could object, Cross then made his way to the Guild building.

The great wooden door creaked as he swung it open. The main hall seemed simple enough; a front desk, with stairs on either side. Those probably led to areas like the dormitory and the armoury, or at least that is what Cross assumed. Making his way to the front desk, he spoke to the man behind it most curtiously. "Excuse me, good sir, but are you the Guildmaster?"

The person behind the desk looked very uneasy about Cross entering the building, but once he spied the ring Cross was wearing he visably relaxed. "No, the guildmaster is in the back setting up the ready room. If you need to see him though, please go ahead." The man behind the desk motioned to a door at the end of a hallway, it was open and a few people were working inside, setting up the room where meetings were to be held. Almost to himself the man continued with "They really need a better name for it, I mean honestly... 'ready room' just sounds silly."

(My apologies for the delay)

(No apology required; it is my understanding that we all have unique circumstances around which to deal.)

"Perhaps not. The things in that room may be at the ready in case of emergency, or will keep all members ready for battle. Then again, I know not what is in that room, so you have the advantage, good sir. For now, though, I must set aside such trivialities and speak to the Guildmaster. If you'd excuse me."

Making his way to the indicated room, he was a bit relieved to find only one person in it; had there been more, he'd have to ask which one was the Guildmaster, thus this was more convenient. Heading over to the gentleman, Cross offered the letter. "Guildmaster, forgive my intrusion, but I have come to join The Heroes Guild. This letter, written by the hand of His Royal Majesty himself, explains my unique circumstances."

The Guildmaster turned to face Cross. He was an older man with gray hair and a distinct scar that ran down the length of his face. It looks like at some point he came close to getting himself killed, the scar runs mostly vertically and goes across his right eye, it then runs down barely missing his nose and ending at his chin. Because of this scar, his mouth is disfigured somewhat to look like he always has a scowl on the right half of his face.
Turning to Cross the Guildmaster walked over and took the letter. After reading it quickly, he called over one of the people working with him. "Ready a room for this man." he issued his order, the young man replied with a quick salute and a "Yes, Sir!" before running down to the main hall and then proceeding down a different branch. The Guildmaster didn't seem bothered by Cross like most people, he had seen his fair share of odd things when he himself was an adventurer. He looked Cros in the eye and said "Welcome aboard Sir Cross, Glad ta have ya." There was a loud crash as somebody dropped something during their work, the Guildmaster whirled around and yelled at the workers "What in tha bloody blazes are ya doin'!? I told ya ta be careful with that!" The workers jumped to attention and started working even faster.
(The room so far has a large table with many chairs in it, different kinds of weapons and armor line the walls with a tapestry here and there for decoration. It appears to be a briefing room/gathering room/armory thing. But workers are moving the weapons and armor into side rooms for storage...)

The black cloak was obviously not heavy enough because Arabella's wings were still slightly visible under the velvet of the garment. She sighed. I might as well just for get the disguise in the first place. She was sorely tempted to just slit holes for the protrusions but she wanted to remain under cover. At least it's raining, she smiled and she didn't even have to call it. She had learned it wasn't wise to meddle with weather for no reason.

She was still wondering why this king had summoned heroes. Didn't he have knights or a royal guard of some such thing... it didn't matter though, as long as he could pay it wouldn't really matter why she had been called, and kings can always pay. She entered the town that castle was suppose to be in but couldn't shake the feeling this job was going to b bigger then she might like.

"It is a relief to know I am understood here, Guildmaster." He took off his cloak, , stretching with a look of contentment. "Do you have a name, Guildmaster, or would it be best for me to continue referring to you by your title? We are going to require communication in the future, and I'd like to make sure such things are done properly." As he awaited an answer, he assisted two workers who were having trouble with a rather weighty chair, one which was probably meant for the Guildmaster, or even the King himself, should he decide to visit. This was a task he did effortlessly, carrying the chair himself to the amazement of the two workers.

The guildmaster replied " Ah, introductions an' such. My name is Glen. Most people just know me as 'The Guildmaster' though, so you may as well refere to me as such."
The rain began to intensify itself, it seemed as though it would be raining all day.
Outside the workers had finished the Heroes Guild building, and were now moving things into it. An odd assortment of characters was beginning to show up, rumors of a dark elf, and even a fairy spread.
It had been just an average day in the rain, until the alarm was sounded. A runner ran past Arabella, not noticing her as he ran towards the Heroes Guild to get to the Guildmaster.
As he ran he yelled "To arms! To arms! Trolls are attacking the south gate!"
The people were uneasy about this, as well they should be. They all kept their distance from the direction in question. The militia and gaurds readied their weapons and ran to assist in the fight. Soon the air was filled with screams and the sounds of battle.
The runner made it to the Heroes Guild quickly and burst in the door yelling "Guild Master! Trolls are attacking the south gate!"
The Guildmaster grabbed a large two handed axe from the wall and ran outside to defend the town. The runner, having just noticed Cross, began to turn a little pale. But the Guildmaster didn't seem bothered by this... creature... so he felt a little more at ease with that in mind. Then, remembering his rounds, he ran out as quickly as he had come in. He needed to get to the castle itself as well. He continued carrying his warning.

A stench coiled around Arabella's nose. Trolls; fully grown and angry by the smell of them. It was nausiating just to think about the scent of a troll- most people could never eat cabbage again after being exposed to one. She was about to take wing and get away from the troll when she head a scream. The scream of a child- an innocent. She did take the sky but turned and immediatly dove toward the little girl who was nearly in the giants out streached hand.

The girl was light in her arms and Arabella darted out of the reach of the thing. She knew she couldn't take down a troll even without the child in her grasp unless she had a magic blade. She heard soldiers marching, though, and so she took her leave. No need to do battle when they would. She placed the child far out of the giants reach- into the arms of the round and agitated mother of the tyke. She landed only to recieve a blow from a stone thrown by the troll who's lunch she had taken. Oh, great.

Cross laughed. "Trolls? Ha! Such slow creatures! I shall make short work of them!" For the fog beneath, his scythe formed, the staff as black as night and blade shining with moonlight sliver. "I would ask how many of them there are, but I feel it shall make no difference. Come along; there's no point in wasting time here."

Cross moved swiftly as he could, a fierce spirit on a black storm cloud. Many villagers, unused to this sight, screamed, shouting such things as 'Monster!', 'Demon!', and 'We're doomed!' Cross paid it no mind as he made his way to the southern gate of the city. Flying up to the wall, he peered over to laugh at the sight.

"Whoever keeps sending these things is getting smarter... They have armour this time."

The trolls, large and brutish enough as they were, were indeed adorned in armour. Darkened steel plates covered their heads and torsos as they bashed their clubs against the tall gate. Making his way down, he began to do combat with one, making incisions with his scythe across the arms and neck, darting about quickly like a mosquito. The troll roared with indignant rage, trying to hit the swift creature with its club, the jagged metal mass only coming into contact with troll skin and armour where Cross used to be. In a manner of minutes, it was down, and Cross shouted to the soldiers on the wall.

"Don't just stand there! Shoot!!! Fire your arrows, or come down with a sword! At least try to LOOK like you're doing something!"

There was a demon or some such thing apparently but Arabella decided it was as good an ally as any. He was fileting a troll with easy grace so she decided she needed a workout and when on to having a go at the next. The one she flew at was obviously the youngest- runty and unintelligent. she alighted on its head and stomped her foot. The thing immediatly tried to slam its wood-and-metal on her. She jumped lightly of and with a solid thwack it had smashed it own head. It wasn't dead but it was dazed.

She pulled out her daggers and threw one straight between its collar bones. trolls had a cluster of nerves there and this sot knocked it unconcious. So much for not fighting Arabella thought as she took off again.

He spied Arabella out of the corner of his eye and smiled. "At least you know what you're doing, fair maiden. Keep up the good work." He immeidately set upon another troll, weaving between its legs until the ankles bid farewell to the feet, the troll obviously quite surprised when he found his legs could no longer hold him.

Leaving the disabled troll to the human soldiers, he snuck up behind one that was advancing toward Arabella and hooked its neck in the scythe blade, cutting its head off cleanly. "What is your name, warrior-maiden? It is rare to see one of your calibur in this day and age, and such a person is worthy of remembering."
