Eleanor's words made Becca's blood run cold. She froze for a moment, a shudder passing visibly across her body. Her skin felt like it was crawling, and in a few places goosebumps rose against her flesh. She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. It felt like her heart had momentarily stopped beating. And who knew, maybe it had?

She moved carefully, putting the boy behind herself, protected and shielded from Eleanor. "Alex, go home. =Now=. Run." She used her no-nonsense tone, silently praying that he would obey. If nothing else, she would get him -away- from the dangerous woman, get -him- safe....

She knew when she died, so she believed that Eleanor would not be able to kill her. And nothing else really frightened the Seer any more. Having everything else ripped away from her, even her chances at having a -future-, meant she could focus single-mindedly on keeping Alex safe.

And if it meant she took a beating from this woman, so be it. She didn't -care- any more, as long as he got home safely.

Nero looked up to the other rag doll, seeming more at ease already. He then nodded his head as if in understanding of what she was trying to say or rather do. Then turning about in his seat he watched as yet another person filled into the place. This one seemed so young, he couldn't help but think to himself.

Then he looked back to Basil. "This person must be of some importance to me since they know my name. Perhaps I'll take them up on their offer." he thought to himself as he zoned out into his own little world.

When the rag doll that he was talking to suddenly sprang to her feet, Nero's attention jumped back to reality. Nervously standing up he looked about the place, not knowing for sure what to do. He wanted to know what was written on the card, assuming he could read it and why the old strange man was leaving. But then again, this Basil character promised getting ship that he could go on. Bitting his lower lip he looked from one to the other. Then after a little hesitation he started after the old man.

Basil let out a small chuckle,
“Yeah, you’re a navy man, right? That’s why I need you in this crew. You’re my first mate.” Basil was half watching everything that was going on in the room when the old man offered to go out and get them a ship. How perfect was this!? But, Basil really wanted to talk through plans with Garret, so he just turned to face the old guy before saying,
“Yeah! Yeah, go talk to the captains. I’ll meet you at the pub closest to the dock in an hour or two, just wait there once you’ve found someone.” He vaguely noticed Nero going after the old man and was very confused by the other doll in the building. He very much wanted to talk with her. Probably invite her to join his crew, too, but Basil wasn’t sure where to start. For now, he just tried to keep his eye on her.

Basil had turned back to Garret and had just opened up his mouth to begin speaking again when he heard Eleanor yell out a “Sonofabitch!” and “Fuck that hurt!” The thought that women shouldn’t use such bad language crossed his mind as he turned around to see some kid being held back by some girl with Eleanor about to go batshit on them or something.
Basil had managed to be looking the opposite direction when the boy ran in from the street and bite the thief. But his motive was yelled at the dumb thief. The boy was trying to protect his sister and that bitchy thief was going to hit him for it!? Protecting women is a good reason to fight! He shouldn’t be hit for it, he should be praised!

Surprisingly, Basil didn’t try to be a part of the fight that could have potentially happened with maybe a bit of coaxing. That and the real ‘action’ of it was through. No one was going to exchange any more blows, and truthfully, if they did, Basil knew that he would have pulled them apart. It’s wrong for women and children to be fighting. Especially if you’re a girl. Basil had been fighting all his life, so it would be a little bit okay for the boy to fight more, but not against the girls. Basil truly believed that women should never fight or be hurt in a fight. Ever.
Regardless of the situation.

He crossed his arms and called across the room to Eleanor and the terrified little girl holding onto her brother,
“By default, if they’re working for you, then they’re mine,” Basil paused for a moment to watch the three,
“You two are going to help us. Especially if you can cook,” His expression became almost thoughtful for a moment,
“And cleaning would be nice too, but that’s not as much of a requirement….”

Becca turned her gaze to the man that had spoken up, shuddering a little bit as he announced that she and Alex were apparently going to be working for him. She hadn't been privy to the conversation, hadn't been privy to what was being discussed before she came in...she had no idea where this would even lead.

And that was a terrifying thought.

She continued to try and cover for Alex, blocking everyone from getting to the boy with her body and trying to keep it open so he could make a bolt for the door. Why did she get the distinct impression that he wouldn't be taking the chance even if he had it?

No matter how much she wanted to protect him, Alex did of course have a mind of his own. A very willful mind sometimes, and she hated that fact. But...there was nothing she could do about it -now- she supposed. Just hope that he obeyed and hope for the best. And do her best to manage if he didn't.

"I...I can cook. And clean. But let Alex -go-. He's just a little boy!"

Basil watched the two of them closely. The young girl was obviously terrified. The boy, on the other hand... It was hard to tell. He was being shoved towards the door.

"I...I can cook. And clean. But let Alex -go-. He's just a little boy!"

Basil was glad to hear that this girl would do the cooking and stuff. That'd be nice. Hopefully she's a good cook. But then there was this crap about the kid being 'just a little boy'. So what if he was 'just a little boy'? He's going to have to grow up at some point. Basil decided to voice this thought,
"Just a little boy, huh? At some point, he's going to have to grow up."

Basil watched them for a moment before continuing,
"Your name's Alex, right? Well, Alex, come with me and I'll make a man out of you. I can teach you how to use a sword, or Garret could teach you how to use one the right way. And we can teach you how to sail and kick ass and.... well, you know. Pirate-y things"

Okay, Bleak hasn't even logged in in nearly a month. He was last seen on the 27th, so if he hasn't logged in by the 27th of this month, I'm gonna PM a mod and ask what we can do to 'take over' the thread.

It's the 27th. I've PM'ed a mod, I've asked what we can do. Now we just wait and hope.

I'm not ready to give up on Ragdolls!!

But it looks like there's precious few of us left.
