He was surprised more than anything else. He'd expected very little and had gotten a lot. He was suspicious, but it all sounded so wonderful and she seemed so trustworthy right then. He knew that if she were lying he'd be dead soon, but he decided to take a leap of faith and accept it. He hoped that he wouldn't be dead soon, though. (lol)
He waited for her to go fetch those clothes and he washed himself. The water didn't smell funny and he was grateful for it as the blood and mud came off to reveal real human flesh and not some grotesque thing that only resembled it. He smiled slightly as the last of it came off and he kept his hair down to let it dry.
He waited for her and as he did he took a quick look around her tent. He didn't mean to snoop, he was merely curious and found that for a woman she was pretty practical and didn't have a lot of luggage.

"I told you, you would not find a single weapon in here, if that is what you are looking for." She smiled, holding out fresh clothing. She then left the tent so he could get dressed. When she returned, she sat back down in her chair.
"The food has been delivered, and my medics are treating your men. There are a few however that will not survive the night. It grows cold and their wounds are deep. The next 7 days shall remain peaceful. I will not attack during the week of mourning. And I am hoping that I will not have to attack afterwards."
Several of her servants entered the tent, setting the table and placing a full course meal large enough for 10 people. They exited shortly afterwards.
"Please, eat." She said, getting up herself and grabbing a plate, and a bowl of soup.

He hesitantly filled a plate and sat back down. The clothes were comfortable and the food was good. "Why are you being so nice to me? I don't think that it has anything to do with you being a woman, for they can be just as cruel as men. So, why then? Why let me eat with you and give us the time of mourning? I've never been treated as kindly as I am now, and yet we are enemies." He sat in his chair and watched her, trying to figure her out.

"I see no reason to be cruel. Just because we have fought against one an other does not mean that we need to be barbaric either. I am taking a more... civilized road. I would rather like to get to know my enemy, and I am guessing since you are here, you wish to do the same." She smiled, looking at him. "But please, for now, let us pretend that I am a woman, a simple woman, and that you are a gentleman, and that we can both enjoy dinner in peace."
She was definitely intrigued by him. She like that he challenged her with questions. Most people did not question what she said, because most were afraid that she would have them killed or execute them herself. She then looked at him and asked, "Do I make you uncomfortable?"

He took a bite of his food and thought his answer over carefully before swallowing and answering. "I think I am curious. I am uncomfortable because there are things that I wish to say, but I know they won't help and may very well make you angry with me, but I am not afraid to speak my mind. You seem to be more understanding than the women I've previously met, less conserned with appearances which is quite pleasing to me. You seem to be a bunch of surprises and contradictions and it makes it rather difficult to decide how to attack."
He seemed to want to say more, but instead he took another bite.

She smiled and laughed. "Say what you want, I won't take anything personal, I promise. And I pride myself on not being like other woman, however there are times that I do wish I could sit down and not have to work as hard, although if that happened I would not be me. And should you wish to attack me verbally, I would be most interested." She took a bite of some food, she then got up and poured two glasses of wine. "Feel free to eat as much as you would like, don't hold back."
She was very much enjoying herself. She could finally be herself around someone, it was a nice reprieve from the normal. She liked having a normal human being conversation, and not something superficial.

He frowned again and took another bite before answering, "It seems like you let others decide what you do. You're here fighting and risking your life because someone told you to, and because of that I don't know what to do. I'm here, fighting for myself, so I don't want to lose to someone who's being controlled, but.." he stopped there and continued eating. He'd say no more on the topic.

"But killing a woman is something you are against?" She smiled. She knew that because she was a woman, in most fights she had the upper hand. She was slightly disappointed, but not at all surprised. Many times she when she had fought someone, she only one due to that fact. She one because of their hesitation. She wish for once someone would ignore that fact that she was a lady and fight her with all they had. She was hoping this starving man would have done so.
She also for the first time realized how he imagined her. She knew he was dead on, she had never really thought for herself, but for once she was disheartened about it. She felt a small pain in the back of her mind, remembering all the times she tried to run away, and all the times she was punished because of it. It had been drilled into her that she was a woman, and because of that she would always need to follow what other people told her. But did she do that today? She was told to kill these men, yet, many were still alive and here she was eating with their leader. Her head had begun to hurt, so she took a glass of water. Confusion had covered her eyes, but she tried not to show it.

He watched her closely and noticed the changes on her face. He sat back in his chair and finished the first plate, then quickly refilled it and began to eat again. He paused just for a second to ask, "What do you want to do?"
He thought of his men on the other side of the field and wished to see them safe, just to make sure, but he knew that talking to her now was important. "Forget what others want, just for a second, and be your own person. If you want I won't tell anyone. I am neutral right now, after all. The tent is the haven, remember?" He smiled warmly.

She laughed, her expression softening. He was definitely different from anyone she had met before. It was a nice change. "What makes you think I haven't been myself this whole time? Or are you expecting me to sit properly?" She was only teasing him. In truth, she had not been acting how she wished to, but it was bred into her not to allow anyone to get close. Although, just this once, perhaps just this once, she would allow someone to see who she really was.
"Oh, alright, as long as you don't tell anyone." She smiled. This should be intriguing, she thought to herself.
"Do you enjoy music, Kaido?"

While she was teasing him he laughed, finding her rather amusing and witty.
After she spoke of the music he looked a bit surprised at the change in topic and swallowed down a mouthful of food. "I do. I myself have a lute back home. Or, rather.." he seemed uncomfortable and looked at the floor. "I did. It's broken now. I think I'll get a new one if I live past this war." He laughed softly and went back to eating, then he looked up at her. "Why do you ask?"

"I enjoy singing." She smiled. "But, not in front of people. I don't think anyone has knowingly heard me sing." She blushed softly, taking a drink of wine, looking down. For a moment, she became shy. This man who sat in front of her made her blush. She laughed nervously, shifting in her seat, taking another drink, and getting all the more embarrassed by it. She looked back at him. She could not help but admit his was attractive, and it was nice to see that he was open with her.
She did like this man.

He noticed how shy she'd gotten and he smiled, a bit nervous now himself. It'd been a long time since he'd spoken to a female and the last time hadn't been a pleasant one. He tilted his head to the side, the smile still on his face as he asked "would you sing for me? no one else is here."
He set his empty plate aside and sat back in his chair, obviously hoping to hear. He wished that he could play his old lute to help make her less shy so that she could sing, but it had been burned when his old house was set on fire with everything that he'd owned in the world. He pushed the bad memory from his mind and kept a smile on his face to help reassure her.

She smiled shyly. "Only if you would play for me." She got up at once, and went to the sectioned off section of the room. When she came back, she has holding a Lute. It was not one of grand splendour, but instead one that appeared to have been played by many different people throughout time. The wood was well worn in, and most of the decor had long since faded. "I assure you the sound is in tune." She said with a smile, handing him the lute.

He was more than surprised this time, he was shocked. He gently took hold of it and held it close, then plucked a string to find that she was right. It was perfectly tuned as he lightly strum his fingers over all of the strings. A bright smile lit his face and he closed his eyes as he started to play an old song that he'd made up as a boy. The tune itself suggested the mystery and liveliness of the forest as it fell and rose in quick bursts of sound. He seemed to be enjoying himself so much he might have forgotten that she was even there for the music seemed to take him away from the battlefield completly.

She smiled softly, sitting down in her chair, listening to him play, she closed her ye for a moment, letting herself escape to a world without war. The music had calmed her down completely. She softly hummed as he played, and then quietly began to sing in the background. She was a deep crimson red. He was the first person she had ever sung for. Ironic who he was her supposed enemy. But if he was her enemy, why did she feel such a compassion for the music he played, why was she so drawn to it? She could not help herself, her voice grew louder, but never challenged his music. Even if she was only vocalizing, their music seemed to match perfectly.

He seemed to remember that she was there and opened his eyes to watch her sing. He listened and tried to keep the tune just perfect so that she could keep singing without hesitation. He found her interesting and wished to learn more, but at the same time he was worried about when the 7 days of mourning would end and they'd be forced to fight again. He didn't want to see her on the battlefield again because he knew they'd end up fighting again. He squashed the thoughts and stuffed them into the back of his mind and only thought of the music that they were sharing with each other. It soothed him to find someone who could sing to his rather odd peasant music.

She looked at him, thinking for a moment to herself. She knew that they would have to fight again, but she did not want to. She rather enjoyed his company. She wonder when he would be leaving tonight. The thought sadden her, knowing that he would leave at some point. She did not want him to. She was enjoying the company that he offered her, and to tell the truth, she enjoyed singing for him.
She looked to him once more, realizing that she had stopped singing, and blushed. "Forgive me."

He blushed a bit himself, finally showing his emberassment. "No, forgive me. My music is rather plane and strange for a pe-" he stopped and scratched the back of his head. He knew how important appearances were and if anyone from the capital found out that the rebellions main general used to be a peasant they wouldn't take him seriously anymore and his honor would take a mighty blow. He stopped playing and gently handed her back the lute. "Thank you, I rather enjoyed that." His smile was big and genuine.

She laughed. "Keep it. It has passed from person to person where I am from, and now it is mine to give to who I will. I have found no one worthy to play it, but now it seems to have chosen a new player." She bowed to him. "Thank you for that, I truly did enjoy myself." She took another sip of wine, finishing glass.
"I... um..." Her face turn a soft pink colour, looking at him. She broke eye contact, become more embarrassed again.

He tilted his head slightly to the side and sat the lute in his lap. "Thank you for this, but.." he wanted to ask why she was suddenly emberassed. He didn't think that he'd done anything. He wondered what she could be thinking, but he'd never been good at understanding what women were thinking.

She got up, went back over to the table and set her plate down. She had not eaten very much. Her mind was too busy else where to be concerned about food. She sat back down. "I was wondering when you planned to rejoin your men. They are probably worried about your safety. Not that I want you to leave..." She had slipped up. She did want him to stay. If she could, she would spend the rest of the night talking to him and laughing with him. She did not want him to leave, but at the same time, she know how this looked. They were on opposite sides, he lead the rebellion against her, and yet, he was night like any other general she had met.
A servant walked in, clearing the food, and bringing in a fresh pot of tea. She stood once more, getting two glasses. "I don't know if you like tea... but..."

He smiled again, "I do" he said cheerfully. He was happy to hear that she didn't want him to leave, but he too saw how it looked. "I'll have to leave, but I'll stay a bit longer." He picked the lute up again and started to play. This time he was playing to entertain her, not to force her to sing. The new tune was light and seemed to dance around the room all on it's own. It was lively and spoke of life out in the fields with the bumblebees and the wind as it moved the tall grass.

She smiled, sitting down in her chair, listening to him play. Over the years, many have played for her, but she never truly listened to them. He certainly was different from what she was accustomed to. Her smile did fade for a moment when he said that he would leave, but it was shortly brought back again when he said he would stay for a bit longer.
It was funny for her to think that this morning she would have easily killed this man without a seconds thought. She wondered about all the other men she had killed, an wondered if they would have brought her the same amount of pleasure had she let them live. It was too late for them however, so she let the thought pass her by, and returned to the now, with him. This Kaido character had certainly left his impression on her, and it was one that would for sure outlast the night.

He played for quite some time and then finally had to stop. He laughed nervously, saying "sorry, I got carried away didn't I?" he gently set it down and stretched. He knew it was bad manners but he was feeling stiff from sitting and performing for so long and he couldn't help it. He looked at her and saw how happy she was and it made his own smile grow wider. "Did you like it?"
