A random noise heard outside your window..

Late at night, there are those weird noises you hear outside, am I right? And if not well you're just lucky.

Lately, there's been a bird outside my window that screeches and I don't think it's an owl, but it's really creepy sounding. (It's kinda like that Avatar episode where they're in the Swamp and that ugly bird screams..) Usually it made the noise around 2:00 AM but now it's becoming a bit more earlier like 11:00 PM ish. It was really eerie when you're the only one up in the house and it decides to make it's lovely call in the dead of night!

Coyotes are special little buddies. They ARE SO LOUD. It's like 20 of them in this little strip of wilderness outside my window and it's creepy that they're that close.
And it's impossible to sleep through them when they're like yipping/cackling.

Then there's always the random teen that walks in the area at 1:00 AM which is terrifying, I don't know what they're doing in there at that time of the night.

That's pretty much it, the bird thing is the worse though.

Do you have any lovely noises that you hear at night or day?

Generally its fairly quiet at night around where I live. But every now and again you'll hear the feral cats get into a fight with one another or smell the neighborhood skunk >__< I've come very close to that guy three times this year, only once did I fear for myself though. It startled me and I startled it and startling a skunk is not a good thing, thankfully I was too far away at the time for it to do anything and I went in the opposite direction. Though I admit, last summer it was kind of cute watching mama skunk walk across my lawn with her 4 little babies :D

Other than that we have the random group of kids that walk down the street on rare occasion chatting really loudly late at night :/ Or some neighborhood jerk launching fire works at like midnight, thankfully that isn't overly common. One night though I could hear the local military shooting grounds firing off their machine guns, that was really pretty weird. I'm used to hearing their howitzers and, on rare occasions, the machine guns in the summer, but that's always during the day, never at night.

we have raccoons o_o
but rather than just making the normal rustling noises, they actually open the sliding doors, and come inside to eat the cats food.. so i usually wake up around 1, cause my door/window (which is in dire need of oil) is making that creeeeeeeeak noise.. and suddenly, I see a pair of eyes shinning in my room.. haha.. but i can't bring myself to be mean to them.. cause they just got two little baby raccoons, and they are sooo cute!! :squee:

It's really quiet around where I live. That is, unless the local rowdy folks start stirring up trouble. (Yelling in the dead of night and running in the streets and generally just being stupid and such) It's annoying, but it's not as bad as it could be.

Haha, it's usually a cat fight or two for me that I hear at night. Once in awhile, we hear the neighbors screaming at each other. It can get scary sometimes because our neighbors get frequent cop visits.

Another thing I hear at night on rare occasions, are the coyotes. Also for some odd reason, cows, though that's rare too and usually during the day time. xD

Oi and I almost forgot that we have that good 'ol railroad track next door. The trains are so loud and pass through frequently during the day and night, so I'm sometimes wonder if it's a Tornado or an Earthquake because it shakes my house too.

Hearing a fox in the middle of the night the first time is a nightmare. They sound so much like a woman screaming you about have a heart attack. o.o I lived out in the country for a while so I know all about that sort of thing.

-is more often than not that teen-
I'm a night person, so I like any excuse I can get to just kinda stand out under the starlight. It just makes me comfortable. I don't go walking out alone, of course, I always drag a person or two with me for safety. Unfortunately that means three to six teens are walking in a neighborhood at 1 in the morning, scaring the crud outta people. We mean no harm! I just like walking under zeh moon.

Although the creepy sounds get even worse when you're alone in the dark outside.

Well, they're aren't eerie noises are such, but we do have noises.

One that totally freaks me out is at 5:00 am the trash truck comes at takes the trash. It's horribly loud and it just come all of the sudden and it certainly gives a fright.

Then there are the homeless people. At like around 12:00am, they start fighting and screaming at each other. And they swearing at each other too.

And during celebrations like Christmas and Happy News Years, the fireworks are so bright you can't sleep. They're loud too.

And there is this random person at the gate of our apartment that screams "RON! OPEN THE DOOR!" a lot of times. And there are some people who scream very loud for no reasons sometimes.

at my old house ther was a mocking bird right outside of my window. It was more annoying than creepy. I think he was confused because he was making noise throughout the entire night and day. CONSTANTLY! now I live in an apartment with lots of feral cats. Sometimes you can hear one of them yowling, but usually they're pretty quiet. Then you have the gangsters that pull up at 3:00am on a monday when you have to be up for work at 7:00 am. gotta love that right?:sarcasm:

Yeah, my neighbors are really loud, and they often freak me out with their random noises. Like banging up against the wall. One of my roommates said it sounds like their wrestling over there or something >_< then the other neighbor plays their music really loud. And sometimes they come home drunk and start howling and yelling outside because they often forget their keys.

At home it was a really quiet area i lived in, and i next to never had anything disturb me. On a very rare occasion it would be a gaggle of drunks wondering down the street rather noisily, at 1 or two in the morning. Once in a blue moon though.

Now, i have the sound of tractors collecting in the cows in the field just beyond my room. Or helicopters. We seem to get a lot of air traffic over here.

We had these annoying and creepy sounds coming from outside our house one time. My dad went out and looked (his nice hunting gun came with him) to see what it is and he came back and said it was a coyote and my baby brothers were like "OOH Let's go eat some climbyote! (climb- yote? - its not really a word but my brothers think those are coyotes who climb trees)

If it sounds like a screaming woman, like a child, or high pitched squeals, then it may be a baby fox. When the mother leaves to get food, the baby cries.

sort of reminds me of the times when I used to have a cat. Sometimes she'd find a way into my room and jump on my bed in the middle of the night. I'm a light sleeper so it'd freak me out until I realized it was her and I'd shoo her out of my room XP

I live out in the country so I hear a lot of stuff such as bugs, animals in the woods, and I have mice. There's a mouse inside my wall right above my bed. It wakes me up at night. :(
