This is about music from the 1920's to 1960's.

Who's your favourite group/singer? And song?

I'd have to say mine is Al Jolson with Cab Calloway singing "I Love To Sing-a" from the 1936 film "The Singing Kid".

I don't listen to any super old music, but I do listen to some older music. Most of the stuff I like is from the 70s and stuff, though.
My boyfriend keeps mocking me for liking The Beach Boys D: Uncool.

Old Timey music is actually a genre of roots american music. Pre-bluegrass pre-folk pre-country. Jug bands, Old Time string bands, Hillbilly music, etc. There are a lot of modern Old Timey bands like The Wiyos or The Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Of artists from the 20s to the 60s I would say my favorite bands are George Formby (humorous risque traditional jazz with a banjo uke) and Buddy Holly. My favorite songs are the 20s era Tin Pan Alley songs (Ain't She Sweet, Ain't We Got Fun, Yes Sir That's My Baby, Everybody Loves My Baby, I Found a New Baby, etc.).

I don't really have a favorite singer from that era, just favorite songs. My favorite song would have to be Moon River by Frank Sinatra, but I also like the version in Breakfast At Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn. I also like Devil or Angel, and Come Go With Me.

Moon River is a good one. My favourite singers are Etta James, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald... But most of all, miss Peggy Lee. She is golden. And her best song is probably either September in the Rain, or Black Coffee.
