That way you’re still being good but get a little more sugar hmmm?” Rain suggested lightly, getting out a few pieces of extra sugary watermelon and the most sugar rich juice she could. She was concerned, knowing that Oni’s body was unnatural so they couldn’t be as sure of how it worked….but she pretended she wasn’t.

Oni smiled at her suggestion and said,"That sounds like a good idea. Maybe more fruit will help." Oni found a pan and set it on the oven. He wasn't sure which knob to turn but lucky on further inspection he saw it had a little diagram. Oni turned it all the way to the other side thinking this meant it was now on.

(Magic the gathering I went 6-2 one win short of the finals)

((Ahh my friend tried to teach me that. I did okay but I still kinda wonder if he let me win. ))

Shaking her head Rain pushed him towards the fruit and grinned, saying “why don’t you pick out some more fruit.. And make me an extra basket okay?” She smirked and shook her head as she walked to light the burner then put it on a medium temperature. She was debating surprising Eme…maybe that’d help her get over the creeps that Dante’s weird looks were giving her…. Simply to get out of the house…

As he was ushered over to another task he wondered if he had done it wrong and asked Rain, "I didn't do it right did I? Can you show me how to do it right? I want to learn Rain. If I don't learn then I'll always be stupid." He really wanted to learn how to do things for himself now. He had spent his whole life letting other people do things for him and now he wanted to be able to do them for himself and for others.

((Meh tonight is kinda boring))

Rain nodded to him and slung a comforting arm around his shoulders as she turned off the burner to show him. “It wasn’t that bad, you just have to let it light the burner first is all. See you turn it till it makes that clicking nose until a fire sparks…” She paused, waiting until it had done so she turned it to meduim heat as she was always more partial to it…..an irony considering how she always leaned to the extreme otherwise…

Oni watched her carefully as she showed him how to do it. "Thanks Rain. I just want to be more useful from now on," he said to her gratefully. Once she had finished showing him he went and did as she had asked him earlier. He got more fruit out of the refrigerator. "Do you have plans for today Rain?" he asked wondering if was going to do anything paticular.

“I might later…depending on if Emeriya wakes up.” Was Rain’s cryptic reply. She smirked to herself, glancing back towards Oni. She then squeezed his shoulder gently, touching his chin so he’d look at her. “Oni….. You are useful just as you are, you make people happy, that’s more important then you will ever know.” she said simply as she turned and put the meat on the burner, smiling a moment to herself. Harry had done something very similar once…. And it made her smile to remember it. Lily may have been the younger sister…but it seemed she really knew what she was doing after all.

Oni blushed a little at her words. He had never thought that making people happy was something that was useful but it was nicer when people were happy. Quietly he said, "Thanks Rain. You make people happy too." He was glad that he lived here with so many good people. Saying outloud, "Rain we're lucky aren't we? Lucky to be at this place with all these people."

A loud bang sound could be heard from Rin's room. He sat there at his lab table smoke rising in front of him. The components had failed. He spat out several curses. These materials were not cheap and he was finding nothing so far to control the oblivion word spell, or at least tone it down enough for him to get a grasp on it.

Her? Make people happy? This caused Rain to smirk with a hidden amusement but she said nothing of it, simply keeping the joke to herself so to speak. At his words, however, she nodded and replied “Yes…. It’s like a family here…. Family makes sure you are never alone.” She then squeezed his shoulder gently and went to flip the steak, humming lightly to herself a song her mother use to sing to the twins(Harry and Lily) and her…

As she heard the bang Rain paused, going silent and raising a hand in preparation if a spell was needed. She glanced up towards the stairway, realizing it came from up there… It made her raise an eyebrow and she walked to the edge of the kitchen. She called out “Is anybody hurt up there?”

Rin did not hear anything because he had a pair of headphones on and was trying to zone out with music to help himself. He felt that if he was more inward it would help him attune himself to the abilities forced upon him by the experiments. He mused speaking outloud. "There has to be someway to make this all work. I know I can do it I just need more time." He went back to work trying another combination of mixes into the beakers.

Oni jumped at the sound. He followed Rain and asked, "What was that? Do you think anybody is hurt?" He was worried now. . it hadn't sounded good at all.

I’m not sure…” Rain admited, biting her lip as she walked towards the stairs. “If you here something like that again Oni….run.” She suggested quietly, glancing at him and then heading up the stairs with her hands still prepared to use any spell required to protect herself. She walked to the door of Rins room, knocking lightly and hoping to get a response…

Oni nodded to her and stayed where he was. He did not let it show but he was a little disappointed in himself. He knew he could not change in one night but how he wished it. There was so little he could do in even every day things and then there was the item of protection and fighting as well. He could not defend himself. He may not have any fighting abilities or magic like the others but regular humans learned how to fight all the time. Dante didn't use magic and he could fight very well. Maybe if her asked Dante would teach him but he got a feeling the answer would be no.

So Oni waited and listened for what might happen next.

Rin couldn't hear anything still and he looked at the full vials. "Allright this time it has to work. Grey word: Deconstruct." The spell did not work and instead the room filled with smoke a bit. "OH god damnit." Rin yelled rushing to the door to let the smoke out before people would think there was a fire in his room.
