It would be different if the Iliad shaped millions of people's lives and perspectives as the Bible does. I'm not saying to burn all traces of the old text... But I think it's important to illustrate to those who read the words of God that the words were written during a different time with different ideals and expectations.

I'm assuming many preachers and such have already seen the importance of it, but I still come across people who take God's word so literal and as-is.... ya know?

Guys who act so against homosexuals are the same guys that think every sex joke is the funniest fucking
thing they've ever heard and will date a woman who's a complete stranger just because she's 'hot'.

It's a testosterone thing.

Oh and Miechan, bravo for being the first Christian I've ever met to have a mind of her own, rather than using a book to blindly decide on all of your beliefs. Religious people usually annoy the hell out of me with their generally closed minded views, and it's hard to take them seriously. It's refreshing to see at least one Christian with a mind of their own.

It's just how they are.
Nothing you can do.
Just gotta try and ignore them.
They are just being ignorant and immature.

I think that alot of homophobes are a little bit insecure of their own sexuality so to feel more confident about it they need to 'diss others.

People use the words "gay" and "poof" and "fag" like insults which I think is awful, I don't find homophobia funny at all, I am glad you do though I have a freind of that persuasion and some of the abuse he gets is really hurtful!
My sister is really bad for using insults like that and I have no hesitation in putting her in her place, she has no idea how hurtful her comments can be. She is gonna get a shock though xD

Thank you Miechan! I was about to come in here, and say what I thought about homophobes, when I saw that this thread had turned from that, and started to bash Christians.

Don't any of you see how contradictory this is? You don't want to be judge, and no one SHOULD judge you, but you're just turning around and doing it yourselves now. :( I'm also a christian, my dad is a minister, but I have a lot of homosexual friends! I don't look down on them, i want them to be happy. I would like to see them be able to get married and be a family.

It hurts to be attacked, no matter who you are, so please think about who you hurt when you say what you say. Please? :)

okay, people do need to stop bashing people. But on the other hand, christians are the main offenders to bashing gays and lesbians. Specifically speaking catholics and any bible thumper. And I doubt they were talking about every christian out there bashes them. But a lot of them do.

Yea, but thats like saying, 'all Muslims are terrorists' or 'All Blacks are gangsters'. Most of the Christians I know are not like how you say we are. Most of the ones that do are older, and were raised in a time when it was taboo. (Even people who weren't Christians from forty years ago would have freaked out.) That isn't how it is to this day, but because of them, we always get a bad name.

But back on topic! I just got a text from a friend of mine, her girlfriend left her because she decided to be straight?! I think it's awful when people want to 'try' being gay, and then dump they're girlfriend/boyfriend when things get tough, or all of a sudden they've changed their minds.

yeah, I get treated differently sometimes because I'm not a size six, So I know how that feels.
I'm sorry that some people are just stupid terds. I personaly think it doesn't matter who you love, as long as your not loving them on my coffee table, and are a good person. ^_^

I Just had some girls give me looks in the coffee shop today, and then I had another older lady comment on "you know she could change if she wanted to, It's not that hard." or something like that which I was pretty sure they were talking about me. so I answered both my bf's question he asked me, and their qualms by saying somewhat loudly. "Well a lot of the time It's the ones that are most insecure that find the most faults in others, and it's alo easier to look at someone else's faults then it is to look at yourself." the room got a little more quite after that X3

I really dont understand why people are like that... it makes me sad and angry. Some of the most wonderful people I have had in my life are gay. It makes me sad that SO many people seem to be so close minded.. .just because some one sleeps with some one of the same sex doenst make them any less awesome!! Yeah what they do is different but that doesnt give you a good reason to hate them.. i mean that would be like me hating some one for wearing diffrent shoes then me.. its just silly!!

I really hope that people will grow up some day and realize that they miss out on SO much in life because they decide to hate what is different.

I mean i used to HATE sushi because it was raw and VERY different from the things i am used to eating... then i realized one day that just because its not what i am used to is no reason not to give it a chance... and yeah i am a total addict now!!

I would ignore him and just walk away. What's the point in giving him attention. Don't even laugh in his face. He could punch you, you know. I am just saying. They just feel superior in making fun of people and they feel like they can do anything. That is what you call a douche-bag. They don't know what they are talking about and once they grow older their child will turn that way and they will not accept it and they just have to learn that nothing is in their hands. ^^ Oh they are just crazy little silly kids. :) Callow people are always gong to be callow. So it's not like anybody should care what they say anyways. They have their opinion and we can ignore them. ^^

i think people make fun of gays because they fear other people would make fun of them if they didn't, or if they were gay.

i think it's a way of them telling people, "hey i'm straight and it's the only way to be and the only way to fit in".

and the other homophobes i know claim to be extreme christians, but i think that it's because they don't want to be made fun of or change their views because that's how they were raised.

[email protected] I probably should have started going off with my view on Christianity and I am sorry for it spinning off into a crazy circle of judging. I have my reasons for not viewing Christians as good people, although I know many great Christians. It is just something that bugs me. If God made everything into world and everything is beautiful, then shouldn't Homosexuality be beautiful too? I don't understand some of the logic in Christianity, But Lets keep the bashing Christianity to the minimum.

Thanks fox. :)

I know what you're saying, I wish there was a way to make people see. It will happen though, if you think about the cycle of Christianity, things slowly become 'acceptable' to them (us lol). But there will always be the hard core ones that still make their daughters wear long skirts and stuff. (there isn't anything wrong with skirts, just the idea of being forced to wear them.)

<--- Gay Christian present and accounted for. ^_~

And despite what some people may think being gay and Christian is not contradictory at all. I personally believe that if you are a Christian yet you're going around and condemning people for who or what they are, then you are not truly enacting Christ's message on earth which is to love each other.

i dislike homophobes, but they are fun to mess with. two of my guy friends at my college are a gay couple (absolutely adorable together by the way) and one time me, them, and a few other of my friends were standing in line at this art supply store and we were right behind these two old people and the boys were holding hands and stuff and for some annoying reason this made the old people scowl at them and talk in whispers to each other quite obviously about the boys. so just to mess with the old people and make them feel awkward, the guys start making out in line. the old people made scowling faces at them and decide to get out of line and go away. when they were walking away all of us burst out laughing. stupid old people. but hey we got a shorter line.

Where I live people like that are ubiquitous. They enjoy putting other people down because they harbor their own insecurities. Thankfully people like that are becoming less and less, but ignorance still exists. Sadly there are still people who live in the closet because they want to be accepted in their community, so they live a lie and become "homophobes".

guys, please dont forget that not all christians or christian-centered religions are like that. many of the protestant branches are highly tolerant of gays and lesbians and such.

I know how it is, being a lesbian.

The sad thing is... they can do worse things then make you cry. :[

I've read accounts where gays and lesbians have been killed because of their sexuality.
