What are your favorite Holiday treats? Things you only find/get around a certain holidays of the year.

Mine I only get around Christmas and is what my family calls "bun". It's a Jamaican fruit cake, but unlike traditional fruit cakes not only is Jamaican bun edible, it's really moist and yummy. It's made with fruit (raisins and what not) that has been soaked in an alcohol (not too sure what my mum uses) for at least three months (though preferably they say a year is best, but you don't have to). So you can taste the alcohol in the bread after it's baked. Haha. It's even better when you make the sauce that goes with it (a mix of butter and rum I believe, not positive though). I've heard people comment (when trying it for the first time) that they think they could get drunk off it. haha. It's not that crazy, but you can definitely taste the alcohol, without question.

One of these days I'm going to have to get my mum to teach me how to make it.

My favorite holiday treat also comes around christmas. Every year my mother makes black bottom cupcakes only at christmas. The bottom of the cupcake is made with chocolate cake and the top is a tasty cream cheese batter with chocolate chips in it. I absolutely love them.
My grandmother also makes a strawberry trifle at christmas that is absolutely delicious.

christmas foods in general i grew up knowing that christmas was a time to love, blah blah blah. but my family has a long traditon of being famous christmas tree decorators. so we love christmas time a lot, when it's christmas we all sit around and have a good time, whether its cooking, playing games, visiting, or just sitting there. that is after we are done working :3

For us, we really don't have treats... like, as a family we decorate for Halloween and Christmas, and we usually reward ourselves for a job well done by making popcorn and watching seasonal movies. It's not the food treat, it's the fact that the whole family is together.

well, it might not be a TREAT necessarily in a candy or cookie sense.
But my grandma's HAM.
We have it when holidays come around.
O GOD IT IS SOOOOOOO GOOD.

Caramel apples. I only ever see those around in Autumn. I've seen little make your own kits occasionally during other seasons, but they never turn out as good anyway. There's just not enough caramel. xD

Deviled eggs, too. We only get those around Thanksgiving. They are my favorite!

I love cocoa tea! I make my mom make it for me on my birthday, in December. although it isn't technically a holiday treat ( my mom believes hot chocolate is for everyday..)it makes the winter worth while!!!

Well at holidays (mainly Christmas) I like to think of myself as a gourmet baker so around these times its sort of become a tradition (the last two years) that I bake a special holiday cake and we ice it as a family.
My boyfriend and I decdied to start it once we got a flat together and we invite my sister along so she can help. Its great fun and I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to join in too!

Hmmm... a lot of people are saying sweet things and although I know there are sweets I can/or just do only get around the holidays I most look forward to my mom making a apple sausage stuffing. It's amazing but she only does it for the big family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas ^////^ *drooling just thinking about it*

i also love candy canes but I majorly stock up every year so that I have them year around XD;;

Oh, as far as holiday food goes, um, it's a tie between snickerdooles (it's a cinnamum cookie) and gingerbread. Drink would be hands down be egg nog.

well it's not really a traditional holiday thing, but I make a ten pound carrot cake out of baby carrots, raisins, and finely hopped walnuts for either Christmas or thanks giving. ^_^ spiced apple cider is my favorite drink, heated up with a cinnamon stick and an orange slice ^__^ Mmmm. Of course for the drinker a little grey goose goes really well with it too. >.>

At my friend house, Agent HEY-LEE, her grand parents buy these Popcorn Balls every September. Because they don't have it at their house now even though it is October and it is for October. It makes me sad, yes. Anyways, I just love those whenever I go to her house after school and I eat them. 8D I just think they are awesome. I am sure she has post in the Word Game forum about me eating popcorn ball next to her. It's funny, I laughed when I saw her type it. :)

I used to LOVE my birthday.. because my mom used to make me a home made cake... my favorite what her home made oreo cake... it was AMAZING!!

But other then that it would have to be Peanut butter bars and deviled eggs... they get made for thanksgiving and christmas the most... well the deviled eggs seem to make it to every holiday dinner but not so much the peanut butter bars.

You can make caramel on your own. You put two cups of a sugar, mixed with a half cup of water, and heat it really slowly on low heat until it's the color you like. Careful, once it begins to change color, it can darken quickly.

Two of my favorite treats are kinds of cookies. One is a butter-like cookie, molded into a flower with half of a candied cherry in the center. The other, the name of which I can't remember, is a round gingerbread cookie with white icing.

And at every holiday dinner, the treat that disappears the fastest are the deviled eggs. If we're lucky, there are enough left to have a couple for a late night snack. :)

Is that caramel or a type of taffy? I was told you can actually make taffy in your microwave XD Just heat up a few marshmallows a little bit (it's cheap taffy, but still just like taffy. Haha. Never tried it myself, but maybe one of these days I will)
