As for clothes, you don't start with any, which makes you feel better when you earn your first item.

Awwww I remember this part! T_T I was so sad to be walking around naked. Luckily I came around when there was an event, so I got some free stuffs.

Um, I think the cheapest clothing here is 30 gold, which you could easily make with a few posts, or one or two shots on the 'fishing' game. (it takes a few tries to get good at it, but it pays for itself quickly!)
