This was so funny I had to share and get every one's stories!
In my sociology class a girl fell asleep and the teacher called her name several time until the girl jumped in her seat completely confused. I shouldn't joke though, I've fallen asleep in class before too.
Has this happened to you or anyone you know?

I have never actually fallen asleep in class.... came close many many many times, especially my senior year when I was working on my thesis. If I ever did fall asleep though it was never for more than like a minute at most. I'm usually pretty good at forcing myself to stay asleep through one method or another.
One of my teachers in college bought a screaming monkey sling shot and threw it at people when they fell asleep in class XD She got tired of it after about two weeks though. But it was funny while she had it.

It's happened to me multiple times. When it gets to that wintery season where it's nice and cool outside but the teachers feel the need to crank up the heater to compensate for the blessed chill I find myself nodding off. I have to wake up early for me, that's 6:30, to get to school on time, so I'm tired to start with in the day. When sitting in a warm classroom with my thick sweatshirt all while listening to a slightly rambly lecture by one of my professors, I have literally caught myself with my head bobbing from a sitting position to one hovering just over my desk. As for actually falling asleep, I think that I've only done that once in Biology in my Sophomore year of high school, and that had nothing to do with the temperature; the teacher was just flat out boring. I think that I ended up with a small pool of drool on the table, not that that's attractive, but I did get some good sleep out of that!

Plenty of times since I've started high school.
The very first time was my freshman year when I was in North Carolina. I was so tired that day for some reason [it took me a while to adjust to high school actually] and I fell asleep in my 4th period. I was snoring SO LOUD.
And it sucked because I heard myself snoring...while asleep, and woke up a little embarrassed lol.
I made up a lame excuse:
"Err...I've been babysitting a lot lately."

My brother taught himself how to sleep with his eyes open during class... it's really freakin' creepy!

I haven't physically fallen asleep, but complete mental shutdown. Like my mind is so dead the brain function is equivialent to when I am sleeping, that I have done. I really wish I could fall asleep in class....

I never fell asleep in class until I started college. Now I fall asleep in class all the time, only in one class though. Watching old black and white movies in the dark makes me sleepy.

I only started sleeping in class during High School. I don't think I can get through a single day of sleep without putting my head down once. I don't really like people who fall asleep while the teacher is lecturing or teaching a new lesson though. It's sort of, disrespectful I guess?

I am guilty of sleeping in class.. On Tuesday of this week i went to Psychology and they were talking about guess what? SLEEPING... SO I was like, It's my time to shine!
I presented myself as exhibit A and slept through the whole thing...
My mom says that I learn through Osmosis or something because I have slept in that class almost all year and I ace all my quizzes and tests..
I do feel a little bad when I fall asleep in there because I do sit in the front row.. But I'm not trying to be disrespectful because I love the teacher and the class is very interesting but I just wish that we did something more than take notes. I mean I wish we could have like a discussion about things or something like that. Maybe something to connect it with other things but I don't know.

The only time that I've ever actually fallen asleep in class was when I was sick with an extremely bad cold. I took a medicine that was equivalent to Nyquil a little too late at night and it didn't wear off by the time I had to go to school so I slept through my morning Bio class. The teacher didn't seem to mind for whatever reason, though, and I was sitting in the front row too.

I am a professional class sleeper! =D
I ususally fall asleep in class at least once a day, but I have excellent grades. The weirdest thing though is that it is such a light nap that I can hear when my name is called and immediately respond.

Ha ha I have never fell asleep in class, but have come really close to it. I was sick prolly. that's the only time i would fall asleep. but i have seen many others fall asleep and get embarassed when the teacher calls on them. I even had a teacher who would slap the desk with a ruler to wake them up!

We've had occasions where the teacher slams a stack of books on their desk and completely freaks the sleeping student awake.
I've never had the guts to fall asleep in class. I usually just bob my head, and then look up, and bob my head again. A friend of mine tried something really smart, which was looking down at his book with his eyes closed as if he were reading. He did it all week while we were reading Macbeth.
Then again, he was pretty lucky since the guy in front of him was a total nuisance, was very tall, and attracted much more attention that my friend did in Composition.

I'm always falling asleep in class, and like sometimes teachers will yell at me to wake up, and I tend to jump out of my seat a little.
Recently, I fell asleep, but I was sure I was awake the whole time, until 3 of my friends confirmed that i was asleep, I just didn't remember falling asleep?

I fell asleep in class in high school all the time. School just starts way too early. I'm sure I missed things all the time. I remember one of my friends fell asleep in class one time and it sounded like he was sort of snoring. I don't think he actually was, I think it was more like deep breathing but it was kind of funny.

I've only fallen asleep in one class, and that was in Geo, when our teacher spent the entire hour explaining our projects, basically reading the same sheets he'd just given us, and I remember feeling really tired and I put my head on my desk, then I guess I feel asleep because when I looked at the clock, 45 minutes had to seem to have gone by in a minute. And some girl fell asleep in my history class, and the teacher noticed, but he didn't wake her up, he just asked "Does anyone have a pen?", but then he wouldn't let us draw on her.

@Amulet: haha, just because i'm in college doesn't mean that I don't fall asleep. I can't stand my sociology class and I try very hard not to fall asleep because I sit in the front but I usually doze off for five minutes or so.

I have fallen asleep alot in class. I actually had designated class that I fell asleep in regardless of how much sleep I have had. I feel asleep during 2nd (during first semester), sometimes 3rd, and 4/5. This is all in my senior year. In the earlier years I fell asleep every other period.

college makes it all the worse for sleeping in class. Haha. If you go to a good school you always have a crud load of work so you don't get much sleep to begin with XP

My friend has a bad habit of falling asleep in classes where there are only ten people or so in the class, her head bobs and she drools a bit. Its funny. One time she even started snoring. I can only wake her up so many times before I let her take a dive. Lol
