Oh, I've been studying japanese for a couple of years now, and I'd love to help you out in anyway I can! I love explaining everything I know about it so much that sometimes I just randomly scribble stuff in hiragana somewhere during school, to try and get someone to ask me what that is, just so I can give them a looong introduction to japanese writing! XD

I have very little knowledge of kanji, but my conversational skills are pretty good, and I can understand an episode of dorama without subtitles pretty decently and stuff... if I could practice conversatrion it would be awesome for me as well, so if you ever want to try it, I'd be very glad! XD (I guess I'll check out the Menewsha Nations forums and look for the thread people've been mentioning~)

As far as websites go, I know this one, though I've never really tried it, but it looks nifty. You might like Rikaichan too, it's an extension for Firefox that works as an automatic japanese dictionary; as in, if you turn it on, you can place your mouse over a japanese word on any website and the definition will just pop up! It's pretty awesome.

If you are learning by a teacher, that is good.

But two good learn-it-yourself places that can help you are:

Rosetta Stone - Trust me it works. IT IS LIKE BRAINWASHING - price - unknown. My dad bought it for me.
If you have an ipod Touch/iPhone - download the Human Japanese App $9.99

They are great. I love them. They work.
