(Coming in late to conversation ....)
I love Antiques Roadshow. Makes me wish my family had cool stuff stuck up in an attic somewhere that was worth something. But we don't. Oh, trust me, we don't. *sad*
I think there are some good things on TV. Glee is probably a new fave, since I can sort of relate, being one of the "weird drama kids" in high school. I wasn't that bad -- I was actually friends with a lot of people from different "cliques" (except probably the jocks *shrugs*).
But, I will admit, I get sucked into inane and frivolous shows too much. Confections, it's probably a good idea you don't have cable. No, strike that. It's a REALLY good idea you don't have cable.
I also love books, but sometimes books get my imagination going too much to sleep. Give me a TV show to dull my senses and lull me so I can get to bed. ^_^

I read mostly fantasy. Right now my hubby and I are re-reading The Wheel of Time, since the new one came out yesterday! Yay! It's my gazillionth time re-reading it, but I really like it.
However, as I've gotten older, I have decided that it's okay to expand my reading horizons. As long as someone recommends a book (and the library has it), I have been giving new things a try. Doesn't mean I always like them, but at least I try.
I also read somewhere that everyone should read at least 1 nonfiction book a month. That may be too much for some, and maybe even for me ... but some things do interest me (I find the queens of England quite fascinating).
However, I also love, love British Victorian literature. Haha, it's true. And other British fiction.
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel of all time. I read it about once a year. It's about as far from Fantasy as you can get, but ... I love, love it! ^_^

I read a bunch of different genres. From Fantasy to Biography to Historical fiction.
OMGTALITHA when I was posting using the 'Quick Reply' method, your post came up before mine and was all like 'even though you're still typing I'm going to appear anyways so SCREW YOU'. That's the first time I've ever saw that happen on this site and it freaked me out.
But Now I'm just excited.

I've not read that one. Actually, the only Crichton book I've read is "Jurassic Park." I don't tend to read pop fiction ..... But it was pretty good (and much more science-y than the movie.)

Ugh! Why do people have to name things fancy things? So I can't find them!? Grrr!\
EDIT: Sorry, I'm working on a craft that calls for "doll bead" but finally discovered online that they're just PVC pellets, which I did see at Hobby Lobby today, but didn't know that's what they were because they weren't called "doll beads." Sighs. Weird.

I don't really have a favorite book. Actually, I tend to pick up a book, read it, but then not finish it. And my attention-span is pretty large, so that isn't it...
If I really like a book I'll finish it, but I'm really picky. It's really hard for a book to keep my attention for long. Maybe I'm too hard to please.
Craft? What kind? I really like to Crochet. :')

Confection, I think that's okay, about the books. Our lives are too busy to be caught up in mediocre books. I used to think that I HAD to finish every book I read, but now ... I move on. ^_^
Well, I'm currently working on several sewing projects. Working a stuffed ring toy, then some baby clothes for a friend, along with hopefully a stuffed bunny for her baby. Then making my sister a stuffed cat for Christmas.
But ... I like to costume. Do some beading. I also love to make handmade cards and digital scrapbooking.
I have thought about trying to pick up knitting or crocheting ... but ... I have WAY too many somewhat hobbies as it is! *LOL*

I don't know that much about sewing. I mean, I can follow a simple patter, but that's about it.
I really like Crocheting. I taught myself after I learned knitting, but I like crocheting better. It's faster and I think it looks better as well. But, it really depends on what you're making.
Right now I'm working on an Afghan to keep me warm and cozy through out the winter. <3 I'm almost done, and then I'll move on to a pair of gloves and a matching hat.

C, I can get really lazy in my sewing! *LOL* I fudge a lot. If I don't know how to do something, I come up with a workaround. I'm working on one right now that's very particular though, so ... I don't think I can fudge.
And that afghan sounds really fun! Also, they can make great gifts! In my family, since there are quite a few of us, we've been doing name exchanges for Christmas, and then making each other handmade things -- which can also include baked goods.
My husband has one of my sisters-in-law, but he wants to make her cookies, which is something easy to help him with! ^_^

Mmm, cookies and fudge.
The girl upstairs in my apartment complex just had a baby boy, so I was thinking of making a small blanket for him for Christmas.
I always get so excited when I go pick out yarn. There are so many different kinds! it's like being a kid in a candy store. I get the same feeling when I go to an art store to get new paints or oil pastels. My mom just thinks I'm weird. xD;

*LOL* I totally get ya! Maybe it's not yarn or paints for me, but ... I love tons of crafty things. However, I promised myself that at the beginning of the year, I will NOT pick up stuff for another project, until I finish my current one. I have too many projects waiting on me!
And, my husband understand my obsessions ... and sometimes indulges me in them. He's so sweet! ^_^
And I think that would be so awesome for you to make a baby gift. Very sweet! ^_^
I think nowadays it's so easy to be impersonal with gifts. I had a friend of mine that was embarrassed by the wedding gift she gave us -- it was a simple cross stitch of our names and our wedding date, with a few little flowers, and then she framed it. She told me she couldn't afford much, but I truthfully LOVE it, and I have it up on a shelf ever since we got it. It took time and thought, and she made it with love. ^_^

That's so sweet...
*sniff*
I learned recently that many people actually make LISTS of things they want as a wedding gifts, and give them to stores and stuff so that their guests can see them...
I'm not saying that It's a bad thing (and I don't know how much of a tradition that truly is) to make a list when you actually NEED something to sustain a household, but the list thing just seems a little self centered to me...

*LOL*
Well, yes. Those are called Gift Registries.
I had one -- and it was fun, but TIRING to put it together. A lot of it we did online too.
It may be self-centered on some things (do you REALLY need the $500 Dyson vacuum?), but on other things, it's a good list for people to see what you need and what you already have. You don't want to be getting 5 toasters, or something like that.
But, if it's your first marriage, and you barely have money to afford a place to live, well ... it's nice when people can get you the things you need to sustain your new life.
Now, personally, what I think is a little selfish are the people who get married for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. time and still have registries. What could you possibly need??
OR, and this is tacky, the people who have on the invite not to buy gifts but to give cash instead.
*dies*
And, even if you DO have a registry for gifts, it is a BIG no-no to include that anywhere on your invite (or in the same envelope). Tacky!
It's okay for a shower, but the rest is word of mouth.
