After a little while, Ana managed to drag herself off of her bed long enough to change into something more suitable for sleeping in. She pulled on a pair of soft gray lounge pants and a black tank top, rather than something sleek and sexy. She had plenty of sleek and sexy things, but she didn't want to even look at them at the moment. No sense in reminding herself just how inadequate she must be. Once she was changed, she went out into the living room to check and make sure her door was locked and the curtains were closed. It was mostly habit, but it gave her something to do besides think about David and how much he had to enjoy tormenting her.

Two different sides of David were warring now. One said to cut his losses and move along, the other said to turn back. Unfortunately, piece of mind number one said go, and David followed. With no hesitation he began forward yet again, moving at a fairly decent pace until he was able to arrive in a more slummy part of time. Passing through with no fear, he continued down until he came across a large park into which he entered. He skulked down through the more thick vegetation until he came across a large stone structure. It looked mostly old and abandoned, and in all honestly was. It wouldn't be as comfortable as Madelyn's bed, but it would keep him out of the sun, and away from disturbance.

Morning couldn't come soon enough for Ana. She practically watched the sun rise, and went to bed once it had. She welcomed the oblivion of sleep when she curled up in her bed. For the first time in a while, she didn't check on her fledglings at all that night. They knew how to contact her if they needed something, and she needed the time with herself.

The evening fell softly, and she woke up to the same quiet she fell asleep to. She was grateful that she didn't have to deal with David knocking at her door. She didn't think she could handle it, not now. Her emotions felt all raw, and for the first time in centuries, she couldn't control them. She felt horribly vulnerable, and it unnerved her.

When David's eyes fluttered open, he had to admit that he was more sore than he thought he'd be. He slept like a stone, right on a pile of rock, but his body suffered for his rest. As he climbed from beneath the tunnel-like structure, David cracked every bone in his body. Stepping away from his previous enclosure, he decided upon the nights events. David would feed, he would secure better means of residency, and he would pay a visit to Ana. It was about that time. If she didn't want to talk to him, that was fine, just as well if she refused to let him in. He'd go in whether she liked it or not, and talked whether or not she listened. That was his plan.
As he took his leave with this in mind, he began to whistle just a bit, preparing for the long journey ahead.

Ana didn't feel like leaving her apartment, for the second night in a row. Taking a spare bag of blood out of the fridge, she emptied it into a glass and sipped at it. It wasn't as good as fresh, but it would do.

Curling up in one corner of the couch, she pulled back the curtains a little and looked up at the moon for a while. In the distance, she could just barely hear someone's dog barking, and it reminded her a little of listening to wolves and coyotes out in the country. Perhaps she would move back out there for a few decades, once her fledglings were comfortable enough with one another to be able to live together permanently...

She was lost enough in her thoughts that she probably wouldn't notice anything outside.

David had been taking his sweet time for the longest, until finally he decided that he needed to get the lead out, and go.
By the time David arrived, it must have been about two, from what he was gathering about the position of the moon. Usually he was inaccurate when it came to telling time on his own and all.
Slowing his walk to a nice, calm pace, David dared not even breath. He was as quiet as he could possibly be, though he knew that would never quite be good enough, and he pushed his black, dingy hair away from his face. He needed a shower, and though he had a change of clothes wadded up into either of his pockets, he missed his suit.
Standing now in front of Ana's door, he exhaled his long-held breath, and then tapped on it rather gently. He said nothing, and hoped for the best.

Ana jumped slightly when she heard the tapping on the door. After a moment, she got up and went to undo the lock. As she got closer to the door, she could pick out the familiar scent of David. The bitterness she'd been trying to run from for the last two nights returned in force.

"What do you want?" she asked flatly as she opened the door. Even though she wanted to want him gone, part of her wanted him to stay. Part of her wanted to know what exactly he found so terrible about her that he abandoned her twice.

He had noticed that once she got to the door, she faltered in her movement. He froze at that moment, a bit of dread filling him... but to his surprise, the door swung open, and there was Ana, no emotion in her whatsoever. The smile that he had on his face dropped instantly. He had not been expecting this kind of response. He didn't know what to do, exactly, so he just stood there awkwardly staring at her. His mouth opened just a little bit, only for him to exhale. Shower. He needed to shower.
"May I borrow your shower?"

Idiot.

Ana couldn't help but blink for a moment, almost startled out of her anger.

"You came all the way here, after I made it clear that I didn't want to see you... to use my shower?" she asked after a moment. It was just too absurd to be true. There had to be some ulterior motive, there just had to be. She forced down the aching in her heart. Of course he didn't want to see her... she just happened to be the only one in the area he was acquainted with. That had to be it. "Fine. I assume you'll be on your way afterwards."

As soon as he was permitted into the house, David stepped through, closing his eyes in shame and disbelief of what he'd just said. He knew the way to the shower by heart, and after entering the small bathroom, he took a good look in the mirror, still shaking his head. He was a dumbass, it was official.

David showered as quickly as he possibly could, being careful of any sore places, trying not to use too much water, and trying to get all of himself clean at the same time. When he emerged from the bathroom, a mass amount of steam followed, and David bent over to towel his hair. He was in jeans, no shirt, and his alternate outfit was still in the bathroom, just chillin' on the floor. The smell of Ana was so strong in the room, he figured that she was probably watching him get the water from his hair, and so he took his time. He was stalling.

Against her better judgement, Ana was indeed watching. She couldn't help but remember the one night they had spent together, and she saw the familiar scars on his skin along side new ones that must have happened the night with the hunters. She replayed their night together in her mind a few times, and finally, she couldn't look at him anymore. She vanished into her room as a few blood-tinted tears began to fall, and she prayed he didn't notice.

But David did notice... As soon as Ana left the room, her scent went with her, and that was what gave it away the most. He thought that maybe she was going to the front door to let him out, but instead, she ran in the opposite direction. That was when he knew that something was not right.
He began to straighten out, rubbing the towel around his hair one final time before dropping it to the floor. No point in hanging it up, he had a feeling that Ana didn't care.
Her door was not closed, and he could smell clear upset. He hesitated. He didn't know what to do to comfort her. He didn't even know why she was upset, crying even. David was oblivious. He knew how to comfort Madelyn, but Ana was uncharted territory. "Ana...?" he called softly. David wanted to bail. He wanted to bail so badly, to just run away and pretend that he knew nothing was wrong, but it was too late now.

Although Ana considered herself to be a solitary creature, there were times when she wished that she had someone who would hold her and protect her, times when she wouldn't have to be the one others depended on. This was one of those times. Emotions were going through her too fast to gasp. She wanted to rage, she wanted to throw things around, she wanted to jump at David and tear his heart out for using her. Instead, she pulled her stained pillow closer and cried into it, hoping to somehow muffle her sobs. She didn't look up when David called her name.

Madelyn and Ana were different in many ways, as it was becoming more evident to David. When Madelyn was upset, or becoming emotional for any reason, she always threw herself upon him, and then everything was good to go. But Ana, Ana was different. David couldn't tell if she was crying, faking it, or just breathing into that pillow of hers. David was panicking, and the only option he saw was retreat.
"I uhm.. I guess I should get going then, get out of your hair..." He was looking at her so sadly, so unable to fix the mess he'd made. He didn't know how. "Uhm.." He sighed, looking down to the floor now. "I guess I'll see you around...."
He knew what he was doing was wrong, but it was all he knew how to do, the only thing he could do to save himself from a hassle; leave. He would run away, just like he always did.

"So that's it," Ana said softly, lifting her face from the pillow and hugging the stuffed thing close to her chest. It didn't quite hide the bloody tear stains. "I should have expected as much." She felt terribly bruised and raw. She had never, in her long existence, felt as expendable and used as she did at that moment. "Go ahead, leave again. I suppose using me is the only thing you wanted to do." Oh yes, she was bitter. There was a whole mess of anger there, and she wasn't sure if she could contain it all, but she was terrified that if she really let him have it, he would somehow end up hurting her even more.

Big mistake.

"Oh, yes, and I suppose you weren't using me, mm? I wasn't the only one in that bed, you know. It takes more than one to do what we did. What were you expecting, Ana? Did you honestly think anything would come from that?"
David's tone was dangerous and sharp. Here was the major difference between Ana and Madelyn. Madelyn was not harsh, she held her tongue. Though she may be as angry as the storms of old, she uttered not one word. She simply grew quiet, and dangerously calm. It unnerved David. But this. This was blatantly rude, and he would not stand for it.
"You think I victimized you? It could have been anyone I met on the street, and I happened upon you."

David had always been one with an ill temper, and even now he didn't understand the full girth of the pain he was inflicting upon the situation.

"You didn't have to come back!" Ana spat. "You shouldn't have come back!" If he had just left, and never wandered through again, it would have been easier. It would have been easier to forget, and let the memory fade to a bittersweet echo in her mind. But there he was, inflicting himself on her again and again, and cutting deeper each time, and this time was the deepest cut yet. There were no expressions for the pain she felt as he flung the harsh words at her. "Just leave! Go back to whatever human whore you had last night! I'm sure she's exactly what you deserve!"

David had his back turned at the first string of words that escaped her. He was leaving with his fury, headed for the bathroom, then out the door....

"Just leave! Go back to whatever human whore you had last night! I'm sure she's exactly what you deserve!"

Oh no.

David stopped in his tracks immediately. Maybe he had misheard Ana. Oh, that had better be the case.
Turning slowly, David's eyes narrowed, and he moved his way back to the bedroom.
"Whore!?" he snarled suddenly. Instantly he was infuriated, nothing in his mind and soul but pure anger. "You insignificant bitch. Who are you calling a whore?! You knew me all of one hour, and you were in my pants. It took me three years to get into hers. And I bet it kills you, doesn't it? To know that a human is worth more to me than you are. "
He was drawing in breaths swiftly, and his mouth spewed what it could. Ana was lucky she weren't a man, otherwise she'd have been hit by now.
"The day I choose you over Madelyn will be the day that hell has frozen over."

David was fuming, and drawing in rapid breaths through his nose. His fists were clenched, and if he were an animal, he would be pacing the room by now.
He was waiting on her strike back, anything, any reason to attack. He was livid from her words.

Ana's shoulders got more and more tense as David's words tore into her. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.

"Get out!" she screamed at him. She threw one of her silvered knives at him, but she was too upset to aim properly, and the knife buried itself in the doorframe. "Get out, get out, get out!" She couldn't bear to look at him anymore, but she refused to turn her back to him, either. She wasn't sure that he wouldn't try to snap her neck or something when she wasn't looking. Hopefully, the knife was enough of a hint for him to leave and not come back.

It was in Ana's favor that her aim was poor enough to have missed David, and he ducked slightly and snarled as the knife struck the door frame.
With that, he took leave via Ana's window, straight through the glass. The glass shattered against his skin, leaving gashing and cuts that healed within seconds. He needed to go, and he needed to go now, otherwise the situation would escalate even further into a direction that he had not intended. He would go back to Madelyn, and he would sleep, and vent, and do everything he needed to. He would clear his head.

As fast as his feet would carry him, David fled to Madelyn's. She would be surprised to see him back so soon, and no doubt, she would wonder why he was even there in the first place. When he arrived at her front door he made no hesitations in knocking, but instead he threw the door open with such force. Madelyn, who was in the kitchen at the time, gasped out loudly, dropping the plate of china she held to the tile floor, it shattering into dozens of tiny pieces. But as soon as he was through the door, she rushed toward him and began to shove him back out. "No, you can't be here!" she said with such panic. "Mabrey's coming in the morning, you can't be here, David."
The look on his face was filled with hurt as he let himself be pushed from the home. He had to admit that this wasn't the best timing for him to show up, but still... Mabrey?
"Madelyn, tell him to come next week. I want to stay with you, please.." His voice, so sincere, had changed so drastically from when he'd been around Ana. Now, with the prospect of not being able to stay with Madelyn having entered his mind, he was scared. He did not want to go.
The look on her face showed hesitation, but after a moment of staring between the two, Madelyn moved from the doorway. She closed the door behind David, examining the damages; the deadbolt was busted. With a sigh, she turned to look at him. "I'll fix it, I promise," David said softly.

The night finished out a bit different that usual, David being especially violent in bed. But Madelyn, like the trooper she was, took it well, and by the end of everything, was laying on top of him, already sleeping. David however, was not. He just laid there, very quiet, and deathly still, being sure not to wake the sleeping woman atop his body. Though he'd tried to wear himself out, unfortunately, he had not. He still was in rages, and deep turmoil with the events that had transpired in the alternate city. He couldn't believe what Ana had said, still, and it pissed him off the more he thought about it. One good thing, though, was that he had about four days to stay with Madelyn before Mabrey reared his ugly head. Madelyn made some bull shit excuse, but David was thankful for it, and would use the days to his advantage.

Ana didn't care that the window was broken; she could leave a note and money with the landlord to have it fixed. Throwing herself from the bed, she grabbed all of her clothes that were within reach. She was still half-blinded by tears, and she wasn't quite in her right mind, but she knew she had to get away from that place, that city, everything. Half-way through throwing her things into a suitcase, she picked up the phone and called Asta's apartment. She knew Allen would be there, as well, so it would be easier to reach them there.

It wasn't entirely too late when Ana called, and Asta (with the inclusion of Allen) was couped up in her room. The two had popped on some random movie that was running on cable, and Asta, with her head on Allen's chest, was dozing in and out of consciousness when the phone rang. Her eyes opened, and she drew in a sharp breath; it startled her. Crawling away from Allen on her hands and knees, Asta took her cell phone from where it was charging on her night stand, and opened it. "Hello?" she asked wearily, obviously rather tired.

"Pack your things, we're going to Russia," Ana replied in lieu of a greeting. She sounded vaguely hysterical and her voice was trembling. "Tell Allen to do the same." She held the phone to her ear with her shoulder as she crammed more of her things into the suitcase. She barely paused to fold the clothes as they went in. "Be packed by morning, we're leaving as soon as the sun sets again."

Allen watched Asta's expression as she listened. He couldn't quite make out what Ana was saying, but he could hear random sounds from the phone.

"What's going on?" he asked softly, not wanting to interrupt.

"What?!" Did she not get a say in the matter of leaving everything behind again? And what about Allen? Who said he would also be gung ho to leave? "What if we don't want to go to Russia? What if we want to stay?"
Asta looked so terribly distressed, her eyes now moving to Allen. With Ana, it was always go go go, but Russia seemed to be a bit much.

Ana paused her frenzied packing. She was trembling, and very nearly hyperventilating.

"I-I can't... I can't stay here, Asta," she finally said. "I can't do it. I have to get away from here. But I can't leave you two on your own, it's far too soon... I need to get away from here, though..." She felt horribly young and vulnerable, and it had to be obvious even over the phone. She felt like she was nineteen again and terrified of an unknown future.
