Masks

There are small masks, tall masks, sad masks, and happy masks;
Masks to hide our face and masks to hide our taste;
There are masks of all kinds;
What kind of masks can you find?
Do you wear a mask to hide who you are inside or is it a mask to show what you pride;
Do you let your true feelings show or do obscure what your soul holds;
Is there a monster lurking beneath that sheep’s wool or a hero hiding behind a fool?
There are bright masks, dark masks, scary masks, and calming masks;
Masks to hide our choices and masks to hide our fate;
Do you choose what masks you wear and can you see past the masks that appear?
I wear a mask and so do you, but what is it that you’re keeping hidden or for show.
Is it really that important to know?

I wrote this for English and was wondering what you all might think about it?
Feel free to critique my poem, the more I receive the better a poet I may yet become.

I enjoyed this - I always liked poetry about the way people front themselves to the world. I like how you address both the issues of people putting up these fronts and then questioning why one should really be concerned about the person's reason for wearing a mask.

The only thing that struck me a bit odd was "to hide our taste." I wasn't exactly sure what "taste" meant here.

Thank you!

Well what I was aiming for was describing interest, for instance a person might like something really distasteful (i.e. porn etc) and use "masks" to hide that from others.

Life is like an innocent bubble,
Floating by without a care in the world,
Until it happens by a sharp turn in the path we all travel,
And it pops,
Sending the soul into a pit of darkness and despair,
Falling and falling,
Until someone with gentle hands catches it,
And lifts it up,
Placing it into a newly create bubble,
So that it may continue its journey once it again.
