Heeheehee, you're trul playing an old-school gnome, that's for sure. Love it!

My DM (which also happens to be my huuby) let's the players play anything created by Wizards of the coast. If he thinks we're getting to big for our britches, he makes a hell of an encounter to teach us a lesson. It's a fun, vicious cycle.

That's a really tough question. I usually enjoy playing any class, as long as I'm given enough time to work out the character's story too. Helps me play.

But if I have to pick, it's be the 4th edition Warlock, and pact. Second would be the 4th edition Bard (which is a huge improvement on 3.5 version).

Speaking of character stories, here's Glim's! lol I found it.

SPOILERX

Your Name:
-My full name is Glim Sparkletree Riverjump Deathwish Whatwall Nackle, but my friends just call me Glim.

Where are you from?
-I’m from the Gnomish community of Hillside, although I am currently residing in Laketon as a break from adventuring and to continue my studies as an Illusionist.

How big is your family?
-Let’s see… There’s my dad (Jebeddo), my mom (Waywocket), my older brother (Gimble), me, and my younger brother (Gerbo). We (my brothers and I) are the 5th generation of the Nackle family to reside in Hillside.

Is your family still living?
-Yes, they are as a matter of fact. I actually just received a letter from my younger brother Gerbo not two days ago.

What do/did your family members do?
-My dad is a successful 3rd generation copper merchant (meaning he took over the business from his father, who took it over from his father); my mom is a seamstress in the Sewing Guild; my brother Gimble is a wandering Bard of some repute (I wonder if he’s heard of any of my adventures yet?); and my brother Gerbo is studying to become an Evoker at the Wizard’s Tower.

Do you have any famous ancestors? What did they do?
-Hmm… My Great-great-grandfather was the first Nackle to set foot in Hillside, and his son (my great grandfather) went on to become a somewhat successful copper merchant, and the business has been passed down through the family till it got to my father. My mother’s father, on the other hand, was a Sorcerer who came to hillside looking for work and eventually settled down there.

Has anything interesting happened to you or your family?
Well, there was that time where I made one of the trees outside my house look like it was glittering as if it was carved out of diamonds whenever you saw it out of the corner of your eye. But as soon as you looked directly at it, it stopped sparkling! Haha, that lasted for a good two weeks before anyone figured out what was causing the phenomenon. I was 22 at the time.

What led you to a career in adventuring?
-Ah, now that’s a good story. There was this group of goblins, you see, and they had been harassing the local merchant caravans for a few weeks. One day, the Captain of the guard put up a notice asking for volunteers to aid in solving the problem. I volunteered immediately, as I had always wanted to be out in the field as part of a team, slinging spells and maybe bashing in a few skulls. Well, to make a long story short, as the group of volunteers was walking through the woods, I got separated from them. Lost and alone, I was trying to figure out where they had gone when suddenly, I was face to face with a pack of wolves. Well, heck. I ran for it. The wolves eventually cornered me at a short cliff, underneath which ran a river. So I figured, why not? And so I jumped off the cliff. I hadn’t counted on the river’s current being so strong, and so I was being pulled along basically wherever the river wished, my owl familiar Nightbreak flying frantically above me screeching for help. As I was passing an island, I was spotted by a group of adventurers who had apparently just landed there, and they threw me a rope to grab onto and pulled me to shore. Good thing they had, ‘cause one of them had told me later that they had seen an enormous fish-like thing in the river that probably would’ve eaten me. Turns out, they were also looking to solve the goblin problem, and so I joined forces with them. We eventually solved the problem and went on to have a few more adventures, after which I elected to stay here and continue my studies as an illusionist.

What led you to enter the class you did?
-I’ve always had a bit of a knack for the arcane arts, illusions especially. I enjoy making them, and weaving stories around them that confuse and confound my friends.

Did/Do you have any instructors/mentors? What are your current relations with them?
-Well, I study under old master Zook here at the Wizard’s Tower, and he has been especially helpful to me with concern to my studies. He’s not that bad a fellow outside the classroom, either.

Do you have any romantic Interests?
-None to speak of, so far. I’m too young for that sort of thing, I think.

Do you have any other allies?
-I would like to think of my old adventuring party as allies. Roywind, Sombra, Fayth, Aragorn, Nillia, and Bob were all stalwart companions, and I would relish the chance to adventure with them once again (as soon as I finish my studies, of course).

What motivates you/What do you want out of life?
-I want to become an adventuring Illusionist of great renown, sung about by Bards throughout the land. I also happen to enjoy collecting nicknames.

If/When your adventuring career ends, what will you do?
-I’ll probably adventure till the day I die, but if I do happen to retire (due to injury or otherwise), becoming a teacher of the arcane arts I so love would be my second best choice.

What is your greatest fear?
-My greatest fear is loosing my spellcasting abilities. They are what make me who I am, and I am nothing without them.

What is your personality like?
-I’d like to think I’m loyal, although I can be extremely eccentric at times. I am also very much a risk taker, a daredevil, even. I love to play pranks on anyone and everyone.

What do you look like?
-I stand at 3’6” tall, have long white-blonde hair which I keep tied back into a ponytail, and have deep midnight blue eyes that I am told sparkle with mischief. I have a scar across my left palm from when I was practicing knife throwing in my room one day when I was bored. As you might’ve guessed, I am left handed.

It needs to be updated a little, but i'll work on it.

Lol. I have a folder I keep mine in.

What's one of the funnier things you've managed to do in D&D? Along the lines of chaotic-stupid funny, I mean haha.

Not sure if I ever did anything "chaotic stupid", per say.

Hmm. Vilresh is a rather serious character to play, not one for elaborate pranks. She's more the devious sort, instead of mischievous.

Delania is also serious, but more in a work-ethic kind of way. The funniest thing she ever did was tip the boat her elven trainer was sitting in, watching her swim to up her endurance (he was teaching her to become a ranger). Now he's the father of her children... huh, wonder how that happened? ;)

Sharra is... kind of mean. She's an opportunistic Bard who stalks out funerals, then get's herself hired to sing songs of mourning. She's done some impressive things, though. She was stuck in a small cage once, and managed to magically cause two of the monsters in the room to start attacking their comrades. The boss of the group got pissed and chased them down and killed them, giving her time to squeeze through the bars, grab her loot and arm herself for combat.

Servant just isn't funny... at least by conventional standards. She was recently liberated from her abusive, oppressive master, and isn't quite sure she likes being "free" and "independent" yet. I'm sure she'll cause some kind of embarrassing situation eventually, though. She's already tried convincing someone in the party to be her "Master".

Damn. I don't think any of my characters have done anything chaotically funny. But who knows, something may come to mind, eventually. That's usually someone else in the group, like my husband, who plays the most sweet half-orc you'll likely ever meet, with a soft hard and a hard head. Poor guys falls in love so easily...

Or Torc, the minotaur in our party. He once tried to pretend to be a domestic cow to avoid being spotted. Didn't work, of course. He's a bit of a coward at times, which can lead to hilarious results.

I do have two characters with the potential for hilarity, the opportunity just hasn't struck yet.

One is Rumor, my Teifling Rouge. She's a high-spirited show-stealer, who revels in her reputation as a thief and break-in artist.

The other is Noiya, my Changeling Assassin/Bard. He works in a circus as cover, and enjoys changing into the female form, then changing back after luring drunks to his room, just for a laugh... although he's into both guys and girls, a good guy is just hard to find. He'll likely get his butt kicked for doing so someday, but until then... who knows. Maybe he's hoping to stumble upon some reciprocation?

Wow. O.o

Lotsa characters... Noiya sounds like a riot, haha!

I'd have to say that of all the chaotic-stupid type things my characters have done, Glim tops them out. This one time, the party was acting as guards for a merchant caravan, and all was going pretty smoothly until we hit this bridge. Now, the bridge was stone and pretty wide, and spanned over a river for about a hundred feet or so. But, what piqued Glim's curiosity was a tale his father'd often told him about Trolls that lived under bridges... So, he managed to convince the party to stop for a few moments while he and the Cleric (Aragorn) went and checked it out. Pausing at the start of the bridge, Glim sent out a Ghost Sound of wagon wheels creaking over the bridge. And sure enough, guess what crawled out from under it? Yup, a troll. A gigantic, stinkin', ugly troll. So, in light of this, Glim (3'6", 40 pounds, about 25 hitpoints, weilding nothing) turns to Aagorn (6'3", 200 lbs, 40 hitpoints, and weilding a burning mace) and says, "Please, don't do anything stupid...", and then runs off to go blast the troll with some spells. The looks on everybody's faces? Priceless.

We won the encounter, too, lol, although that's where Glim collected the nickname "Deathwish".

So, anyroad... What's up?

Hahahaha, that's awesome! And a very ingenious use of ghost spell, bravo.

That's not even all my characters, heehee. Probably not half. :XD But I've been playing for YEARS, so, yah.

We're back in the swing of things when it comes to D&D, and I'm so happy. We're back to playing two games every Sunday (my hubby runs them). I'd taken a break because of having a baby- it takes a lot out of you. one game goes from 11am to 4:30 5ish, and the second goes from 6:30 to whenever we get tired.

@Cadone We don't do either, technically. The campaign we are playing in is called El'Kemharu, and was built by me YEARS ago, then finished by my husband. We've had three successful games played in this world setting.

I'm working on a new world setting, but it's still in it's infancy. World building is a blast to me.

And when the two games we're playing are finished, one will be replaced with a Forgotten Realms campaign, and the other will be in the El'Kemharu setting again.

I'm still fairly new to D&D and tabletops in general but my partner has been playing for longer than I have. We're currently struggling to find a group to play with IRL. I tend to play humans of the good variety - either neutral or chaotic good.

I'll have to direct my partner to your thread so he can have somewhere to nerd out.

I'm out in East Central Indiana - between Muncie and Fort Wayne. Creepy close, if you ask me.

Where we actually live the gaming scene is pretty dead or close knit. We don't get a real chance to play with other people very often.

Yeah, same here. I wish there were more chances to game but life just seems to get in the way. It's hard to find people understanding of the fact that my little one is too little to leave with a sitter. Especially since we're still breastfeeding him.

The games are hosted at our house, so my little one is always with us. I usually just give her breast milk in a bottle during games. We have tow players that always fight over who gets to hold her next. :XD

But we're lucky. A few people we used to game with wouldn't have been so understanding.

There are a few websites around that work as a sort of "classifieds" to look/advertise for players and DMs. I've never been to any, but I've heard a lot about them.

I currently play Dungeons and Dragons and have a half elf bard at level twelve which I have just put into semi retirement. I have a story I have written about his child hood that is titled. "Memoirs of a Bard" in the literature forum. I am a player and dungeon master-- I use three point five and use the pathfinder edition which in my opinion should have been four point O.

I love playing bards because I am a musician/ so I am a bard in real life in my own right which to me is pretty cool, lol.

Welcome Kole and Miruku!

My favorite classes include the Beguiler, Wizard, and Sorcerer (in 3.5), and the Warlock, Swordmage and Bard (in 4th edition).

I don't mind branching out at all, though, and have played many, many classes.
