So, I personally am a huge fan of this movie. I watch it over and over, and everytime gets to me. It's so well done, and Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger are fantastic. One thing I'm sick of is everyone going "Ewww, the gay cowboy movie?" It's so much more than hat, it's a beautiful love story. What do you think?[

I should probably watch it again, since I haven't seen it since it came out.
But I thought it was seriously over hyped because it was the gay cowboy movie. I just didn't find the story particularly compelling. There are two gay guys who fall in love, okay, great...? I don't know, I just thought it got more attention than it should for openly showing a gay relationship.

I couldn't agree more. I loved the movie, the actors, the story and the lesson it teaches....
All in all I thought it was a wonderful movie, one of my favorites. I thought it was a bit drug out at parts, or a bit slow moving but over time I learned that's part of it's beauty.
I miss Heath LEdger...:(

The movie was just a very sad story of love found and love lost never to be found again. The lesson this movie teaches is that you have to step up and be who you are and not care what others may think of you regardless. You could dissect the movie and use the "What if" scenarios and the ending could have been dramatically different with a much happier ending: one example would have been had the guy Heath played just been honest with himself and told his lover that they were moving away so they could be together. In the setting the movie took place, they made it quite realistic except the part where as soon as they see each other they start kissing out in the open. That was not realistic, they should have been trying to exhibit a bit more discretion and then shown them get found. The movie can be examined on multiple levels. The dramatic aspect which was very powerful had many people facing the issue of acceptance which was a good thing.
Yes, it was a pity what happened to Mr. Heath Ledger, a very talented actor whom I thought also played an awesome role in "The Patriot"

I remember seeing this movie in the movie theater - at the end everyone was so silent because of the upsetting ending. Then my sister dropped a box of candy which made this loud spilling noise which sort of made everyone crack up.

It was a good movie but yes, very sad. I haven't seen it in a while so I should watch it again soon.
