I am a veteran of the Pokemon Game and I have almost every game ever made(RPG ones) except the elusive Crystal version, I still play it and I was one of the first Americans to play the game(I played a japanese RPG version at one of my dad's friends houses way back in 1992, It was a ptototype game style that didn't take off till 1995) and the proud owner of a Arceus on the newest generation of the games; I have been playing it since 1996 and I have owned the game myself since 1999. I would like to know how long other people have been playing Pokemon and why they continue to play it?
I just like it, it is really fun and challenging and one of the few games I am an expert at(the other is Mortal Combat)..

I've been playing Pokemon ever since the original verison of Blue and Red came out. From there I played those two like mad. I was always trying to catch ALL 150 of the Pokemon. Of course, when the Yellow version came out and you had Pikachu follow you around, I thought it was the beez-neez. Of course, I stopped playing at Gold and Silver. It was then I realized that those versions were the only other good ones.

Not only that, I watched Pokemon on tv. I loved the seasons up to Johto. Of course, I did not support the idea of Brock leaving the team for Tracey in one season. But, I think that after the Johto League, Pokemon died. The creators are slowly killing Pokemon to death. Now all the pokemon are about spikes, stripes, and bad-arse moves that seem to always hurt a pokemon in one freaking hit.

But, I will still play the Pokemon games. ONLY up to Gold/Silver. The other one's in my opinion, are just not worth my time or memory. It's so fracking hard to keep up with all these new stupid looking pokemon.

I've played since '98. I loved my Blue, and then my gold (though I got Silver when my Gold accidently took a swim with me in '03). I also loved my Leaf Green, and now I want Heart Gold. But I still feel Gold is where I held the line on adding new pokemon.

I think I have played them all, except maybe crystal and emerald, but those were remakes/enhances anyways.

I had Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow for on my Gameboy Pocket, which was an awesome gaming system, it was so thin at the time and took AAA batteries!

Then I played Gold/Silver on the Gameboy Color. Then I played gameboy Ruby and LeafGreen on the Gameboy SP, and now I'm playing Diamond/Platinum on the DS.

I also played Pokemon Coliseum on the Gamecube, which was actually quite an enjoyable game. At one point it got really hard and I gave up, but the idea behind was a nice change.

Since the original Red and Blue came out. I bought the Blue version, and my brother the red. I haven't played every single color, as you know they usually have three in a particular 'series' that just has a couple of pokemon you can only catch on that cart. Usually I'll get one color, and someone I know will get the other color and we'll help each other out.

I can't believe both my ex husband and current husband are as big of pokemon fanatics and can easily stomp all over me when it comes to VS mode. I've never tried to fight them actually, since they both IV and EV train and it would be pretty futile.

I've been playing Pokemon since I was 9, making it ten years. Wow! A whole decade. My brothers got me my first Gameboy Color and Pokemon yellow. From then, I've been attached.

Since Red & Blue came out. I got it when they came out.

Then I got yellow, gold, silver, crystal -missed sapphire & ruby but played them, pearl, diamond - don't care for platinum, owned both games for nintendo 64 and collected the cards.

And I wasn't even 13 yet.

Good times.

I started out with Pokemon Red and Yellow. I've been playing ever since.

It's amazing that Nintendo has successfully sold me the same game this many times over this many years... XDDD

I have all of the games from Yellow on, I don't remember why but for some reason I never got Red and Blue. But I love playing them, even if I don't play them as often as I would like.

I remember when the original red and blue first came out. I also remember that the commercials never really explained what the game was even about, so kids didn't really know what it was until it was finally released.

I still play the game from time to time, but it's feels crazy to think back on what the pokemon fandom used to be like as compared to what it is now. Kids who're just coming into it now have no idea how insane things used to be.
