There's a little event out there called National Novel Writing month, so I'm wondering if anyone out there is writing a novel.

The name of the game is 50,000 words in the month of November.

So, is anyone taking the challenge?

I can't write a complete story with only 50k words! It would be fun to try but I have so much to do not sure if I owuld be able to complete it. What is the prize?

There's no real prize, besides the satisfaction of actually writing a book. And 50,000 is only the goal, many people, including myself set higher goals. I myself an aiming to write 100,000 some people even write 250,000, or evem 1 million words!

It all depends on what you want to write

I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year.
I've already got the plot written out and detailed descriptions of my characters for my novel.
I want to try and get this one published, so I'm going all out this year.
I'm ready to start writing, and I'm going to stay up all of Sunday morning to write.

I'm not going to write this year, but I will work on some of my characters and maybe come up with a plot for next year.

If anyone would like someone to read their work though, I volunteer! I'll be a cheerleader for those who are actually able to write. :vicky:

Rose would you read mine? I can send you a chapter and if you want to read more I can send more but if your not interested then its ok. What type of stuff do you like reading? I have a lot so maybe I can find one that fits your taste. I do swear a lot in them though....

Marquisse: Sure I'll read yours! Cursing is not a problem for me, so don't worry about that. Let's see, some of my favorite books are Wicked, Twilight Saga, Night World series, Redwall series, House of Night series...basically I love fantasy and mythical type stories. If a book is able to pull me into its world, then I tend to want to read more and more about it!

I'm signed up...I'm at least going to try. I dunno if I'll actually finish it or not, but I'll damn well try. *nods* I've known about NaNoWriMo for a while now, and I think I have pretty good writing skills now, so I want to try it this year.

I'm not going to write, but I am more than willing to edit stories. I'm an English major, so you'd have to expect lots of grammatical mucking.

That would have to wait until after NaNo, the whole point is to turn off your inner editer and just write, not worrying about grammar, or even spelling. Basically, you just write your first draft, and some of them are really quite bad. But looking things over afterwards is really cool.

I really want to do the contest, but... I'm not sure I'll have enough time to complete it with finals, final projects and other things coming up.
I might though, just to see how far I can get. But I'm not sure if i'll revisit the story I tried to last time or come up with an entire new plot.

Well if you write even 1000 words, it's 1000 words more than you had previously. And it's fun to just get involved with the forums and the community

I'm not, I'm not really confidant enough in my writing skills yet, but my girlfriend is, and I'm going to be her personal cheerleader to get her through it. -chuckles-

@Viperish-Path even if you're not confident, it's a great way to just get an idea down on paper, even if you're not coffident about it

I'm writing again this year! ;;is the girlfriend mentioned by Viperish-path;; I have a wonderful cheer section this time around, not to mention a sound board....

Even though she doesn't know it, Viperish-path is good at her authorship skills. She's just better at her artistic skills, that's all. Which is why she doesn't have much faith in her writing abilities. Trust me, ;;grins;; I know.

@Serenova: I'd like to add you on NaNoWriMo, but I fear you wouldn't recognize the name right away. So I figure I'll give you (and the others who are also participating) the option of adding me, too. The name there is Marelle.

I'm hoping to hit at least 50k and win this year! If I manage it, I'll have won twice in the five-ish years I've participated! ^_^

@mortegami feel free to add me, I at least have the same username so I'm not to hard to find. I'll go an add you as well.

I don't really have much of a cheer section myself, but I got two people that I talked into doing it that I'm planning on goading into crossing the finish line.

I'll gladly share my cheer section with you! In fact, I'll even join in to cheer you on as well, how's that? That way, we all can cheer each other on to victory! ^_^

(Oh, yeah, and I added you ;;blush;; I think you got to it before I did, though... lol)

I probably did beat you to it, but hey, i went strait from here to there.

I just can't wait until Sunday.... I'm even organizing a write-in on my campus for the surrounding area... and it's only my second year doing this, it's really quite sad that I'm this involved this quickly. I just enjoyed it so much last year that I'm way excited for this year.

Hey, I don't blame you for being so involved! If I had the time (I'll be pressed for time to write this year, which is why I'm going to strive for 2,000 words a day in the mornings), I'd be more involved, myself. I'm going to attempt to at least donate, but we'll see how the financials here at home are, first.

I'm not quite as organized as it sounds like you are, also. I try to get basic plot and major characters down before November, and then let the story write itself. I ended up not participating last year because I'd not had any time to think about it the months prior, so I ended up with three ideas that I couldn't choose between, and next to no time to write. So I sat it out and cheered from the sidelines.

I'm not really organized at all. Yes, I do have a plot and characters, but how I get from start to finish, I have no idea, well maybe.... kind of...

But yea, the only reason I'm doing the write in really is that it's insanely easy to book a room on campus (an online form that takes lik 30 seconds to fill out) and since it's a small campus there's not a lot of demand.
