I've been having problems with stereotypes. you tell me what you think of them.
I've been told emos need to die
same with preps
and other stereotpyes.
I Hate It
then there are the people that ask to be stereotyped and insulted
by calling themselves emo or preppy and then whine when they get insulted.
i am just so tired of these stereotypes.
i mean i dont consider myself any stereotype
i always dress different and act different
I'm just me
what do you think??
personally i think it is stupid.

Yes. It is stupid. It is also stupid to look too much into it. Just let people believe what they want, they're all douche bags anyway.

Well, here's the question: are you being stereotyped? If so, which stereotype are you being placed into?
There are always going to be stereotypes in this world and there are most definitely going to be people that fit into those stereotypes. If the people want to be stupid jocks, air-headed preps, or crying emos, let them be. They are what they want to be and what they want to be is a loser.
Be proud of your individuality and stop being concerned about the trivialities of others. They aren't your problems.

There will always be sterotypes. But what you need to do is just ignore them. Don't worry about where people are saying about you or anybody else.

Stereotypes do serve their purpose. They are used to create niches. They divide people into groups in which they can then fit in and create relationships.
Yes, they have their hurtful downside. I've been victim to that, as have many people. But I still think everyone will fit into these roles and overall, not suffer too much from there. Most people don't much care about them anyway. At least, not where I grew up.

And stereotypes never disappear they are a constant in everyone's life. It gets better though just except that they exsist and move on.

We (people) use stereotypes as a way of making sure our world remains 'stable', and that there are 'constants'. Like - Water is wet. Fire is hot, etc. It makes us feel safer in our world - it also helps us form groups with other people.
But yes, stereotypes can be, and often are, nowadays, very hurtful.

I don't think sterotypes are ever going to go away. People seem to enjoy living superficial lives because it's easy. Thinking out of the norm requires just that - independent thought which can be too complicated for some.
Just be proud of who you are and never let anyone label you. Just let them know you are an individual and their opinions won't change who you are.

There will always be stereotypes as stated above. But depending on what "group" you belong to, you'll see people differently. I just tend to ignore what other people think of me.

People just can't be civilized nowadays, and not label people like they're soup cans.
That and when people label each other that way it usually means that their self-esteem isn't as normal or high as it supposed to be.

I think its stupid!!! The reason that it started ((in my opinion)) is that when the media decided to make shows about high school they did their research and got it wrong and then when people saw it they were like "Hm...That's a good idea!". Nowadays, people have social anxiety because they are afraid that they can't fit in a be popular or cool. Now the whole teen world is based on trying to be cool! It's just stupid! I mean can't we all just learn to be individuals and find our similar interests because if you think about it..that's just what we really are! But I'm not sure about the media part...that part is only in my point of view x]

Yes I do think stereotypes are stupid. I think most people don't even fit into one.
I have no idea what stereotype I was considered when I was younger. I hanged out with some so called 'losers' and some 'popular' people. My friends normally hated each such because of these stereotypes even though I think they could have got along fine.

When it comes to stereotypes, I'm on the fence. While i agree that saying things like what you mentioned is wrong, I don't believe that stereotyping should be done away with or even looked down upon scornfully. To be honest with you, I like them. They USUALLY have some piece of truth to them or else the generalization wouldn't be applicable. For example, there are plenty of emo kids who cry. There are plenty of Jewish people that are greedy. There are plenty of black kids who are well endowed(had a problem with that one, there are alot of stereotypes it seems) So in that regard, I think they can be helpful if looked at in certain lights. *opens my umbrella, getting ready for the poop storm that he can feel rumbling towards him*
