You're obviously here because you're a Nightwish fan. I'd like to let you know ahead of time that I'm probably the hugest Nightwish fan in the US. Not sure about Finland since that's where they're from. Ask me anything! :D

SO! This being a thread, and a thread about the greatest band in the world, tell what your first Nightwish song was, or your first Nightwish experience in general. What did you think? Were you hooked right away? How many of their CD's do you have? What's your favourite song? Who's your favourite band member?

(I tried to add text smiley faces after each of their names on the poll but the automatic smileys messed it up! XP)

**********PLEASE NO ANETTE VS. TARJA WARS HERE!!**********
This is a happy thread!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So! I suppose I'll begin!
My first Nightwish song was End of All Hope. About four years ago, I was looking for an Elfen Lied amv on YouTube and found one to this song. It was epic! It took me a couple days to find who it was by, but once I did, I downloaded a ton of Nightwish music and I knew I was in love. I now own (legally. lol) ALL of their CD's, well not including the singles. I've seen them in concert 4 times; those were the 4 best nights of my life! I met Marco 3 of those times, and Tuomas and Jukka once. Marco even recognized me! :D My first concert I hardly even remember because I was in so much awe that they actually existed. The next 3 were on a road trip just this past May of 2009 with my boyfriend. Saw them 3 nights in a row in OKC, Corpus Christi TX, and Houston TX. AAAWWWEEESSSSOOOMMMEEE!!!!! Just two weeks before that trip I even got the pendulum from their Dark Passion Play album cover tattooed on my shoulder. I intend to add tons to it, something from every album cover and maybe my favourite songs, too!

 I LOVE NIGHTWISH!!!!

They're one of my favorite bands, too.

I don't remember exactly how I first heard about them; for a long time, I knew about them, but I had never listened to their music. Then one day, I decided to try and find some more symphonic metal bands, as Within Temptation was one of the only ones I knew of at the time, so I thought I'd actually look up some of Nightwish's music.

I don't remember now what the exact first song I heard was, but I know some of the first ones I listened to were "White Night Fantasy," "The Riddler," "Bye Bye Beautiful," and "For the Heart I Once Had."

The only album I own so far is Dark Passion Play, but I've downloaded a lot of their other music onto my iPod, and I plan on buying the rest of their CDs sometime, too.

I can't really list a favorite song; I like too many to choose just one.

@Valka: I was obsessed with Wanderlust for a couple weeks. lol. It's sooo good! So are Wishmaster and Elvenpath!

@NorthEastFire: I love Dark Passion Play. It's probably my favourite album so far, too. But I love all their music. It's hard for me to say which song is my favourite! Of their new ones with Anette, it's probably Bye Bye Beautiful, or Escapist. With their old songs with Tarja, man there's so many to choose from. Mabye Beauty of the Beast, or Dark Chest of Wonders, or Ghost Love Score. :D

Nightwish's New album set to come out some time in 2011! T_T WHY SO LATE! Anyways, What is everybody here looking for out of the next ablum? What do we expect to hear from the Amazing Mind of Tuomas Holopainen? Or from the Overpowering voice of Marco Hietala!? Either way, I'm Super Friggin excited to hear some of their New Stuff! Jukka's Gunna blow everyone away as usual with his amazingly awesome Drumming. What is everybody expecting? Or do we not know what to expect?

Nightwish is probably one of my top favorite bands.

I really like the songs "Nemo" & "Ever Dream"

though I haven't listened to them for a while.

What first got you into Nightwish? When did you first hear them? What was the First song of theirs that you ever heard?

I read an interview on the Metal From Finland website. It was an interview with Tuomas. But he said that the next album (like Mene Jukka said) is due to come out in 2011, and that it's going to have a lot brighter feel to it as compared to Dark Passion Play. I'm very excited, because in the documentary "End of Innocence" and their biography "Once Upon a Nightwish" Tuomas is always reminiscing what innocence they all had when they first started playing their music. So I'm hoping that by the new album being 'brighter' he means sort of more like their early music on Oceanborn! That would be so great, because I really love that album!

First NW song I ever heard was "Wish I Had An Angel" my Freshman year in Highschool. It was on a Sailor Moon AMV. The video has since been taken down from Youtube being butt-buddies with copyright companies and whatnot.

First album I bought was Dark Passion Play my Sophomore year. And I've recently finished my collection of all of their Studio albums.

My favourite songs are "Wish I Had An Angel (Demo Version)" and "Ghost Love Score (Orchestral version)", both from the "Wish I Had An Angel" Single.

As for favourite member, I like Marco most. He's the most experienced, having his own band Tarot since the 80's. And his vocal range is remarkable.

Ah Nightwish.

I actually got into them when I heard the song "Nemo" on the end credits for a movie called The Cave. I fell in love with it and was lucky enough to find it at Wal Mart not long after.

My favorites are "Moondance", "Walkin' on the Air", "Nemo", "Sahara", and "Ghost Love Score".

I actually don't have a favorite member of the band. ^^ I usually don't pick favorites since its their efforts together as an ensemble that brings me such joy.

@LadyKnightSkye: That's a cool way to look at it, not picking favourites. ^.^ They all work really hard together to make Nightwish possible! And I've always wanted to see The Cave just because they used a Nightwish song. lol

@Apeiron: I just recently went and got all their albums too! I still have yet to collect all their singles, as they have sooo many. But I want them! And I love Marco's band Tarot. They're so awesome! My favourite songs of theirs, that I've heard so far, are Howl and Tides.

@ Escapist: Thanks. ^^ The Cave is a movie that I enjoy a lot even though I know that most others would find it so-so. I do suggest watching it if you ever get the chance.

@Escapist; The music stores that are near where I live don't have any of their old singles, but only their studio albums. While I do buy MP3 Albums, I'm still the kind of guy who prefers to buy the actual CD and have it in my possession. Not real easy to do when most of the Midwest still has yet to listen to a Nightwish song.
I don't even know if the music stores even have Sonata Arctica albums either. lol.

I really like Nightwish, too. Um. Favorite song.... Is hard to say, because I'm currently full of Within Temptation, but I'm very fond of Beauty of the Beast, Dark Chest of Wonders, and Ghost Love Score. I've only got Once and Century Child--I happened to find that one at a Borders. I was very surprised by it, because all that I'd been able to find anywhere else was Once.

@LadyKnightSkye: I tend to like movies that other people don't like. So I'll check it out! lol.

@Apeiron: No kidding. Whereabouts in the Midwest do you live? I'm in Colorado. And it's RARE that I find others that listen to, or have even heard of Nightwish. So I always get really excited when I find their CDs in stores. lol. It took me a few months to get all their CD's, as it was hard finding the ones I needed at the same store. XP I'm like you, though, I prefer to have the actual CD rather than MP3s.

@Wordstreamer: Those are some of my favourite songs! I listened to Beauty of the Beast non-stop for like, a week straight. It's so amazing. But yeah, Once and Dark Passion Play (less often than Once) are usually the only albums I see at stores. If I find Nightwish at all. XP

Thats Suprising, because USually Borders has a lot more Nightwish Stuff. hm... at least the borders that i go to... XD

But ghost love score is a friggin awesome song!!!! i cant think of anyone that doesnt enjoy listening to ghost love score if they like nightwish.. its like a requirement if you like nightwish. You have to like Ghost Love Score too! i saw them play it live twice!!! once in Oklahoma City, and a second time in Corpus Christi, Texas. i've seen them a total of Four times live, and would pay any amount of money to see them again! Nightwish is just one of those groups that grows on you after a certain amount of time. at first, i didnt like htem much... but now.. haha... i've even got a tattoo based off of the one the drummer for nightwish, Jukka Nevalainen, has on his right arm. Stuff like that makes me laugh at how life works out sometimes!

The orchestra that did the music for the Lord of the Rings is the same orchestra in "Ghost Love Score" ;]

@Escapist; I'm in Missouri. I've found all of my CDs at Borders and Best Buy.
