I find that very weird, but not disturbing.

Creepy and definitely disturbing, selling caskets in a convenience store, I'll just leave it at that.

Personally I don't care. Like my mother-in-law said, "It's a good marketing idea. It will get them more money because now they are selling things that are used all the times."

And the only reason small businesses fail most of the time is because their stuff is to high for people right now (Since most things are handmade) Though there are somethings that I would rather go to a small business then some large one like Wal-mart or Krogers/Fries (depending on where you live.) Like Cakes. o.o I rather go to a bakery or something like that. Or donuts...>.> I don't go to Wal-mart for donuts unless it's the box donuts and I don't like those.

o.o
Costco > Wal-mart >.>

I really don't like the idea of Walmart selling caskets. That's just not where they should go with their business. It's creepy and just not right.

By the way, did you know that Walmart tried to get into the banking business, like with checking accounts, loans, and investments? What ever happened to simple one-stop-shopping?

Funny you should mention the banking business, angel of light. I saw a documentary about the founder of Walmart and he actually worked for a bank, I believe he ended up partially owning said bank, and gave himself loans to expand his business. And you're also right about how they should go in that direction. There's just certain things you should just leave alone. They do have their own cell phone company making its way in though.
Oh, and I also have to agree with Xylia on the cake and doughnuts thing. My mom's a baker and I prefer going to bakeries and doughnut shops over walmart or a regular grocery store any day!

You wouldn't be from Wisconsin would you? My area has two wal-marts as well on either side of town. Only problem is... since they left their old building just sitting there, the other Mom and Pop stores and businesses went bye bye. Even Blockbuster went out of business and merged into one store. Only thing left is a few stores that are hanging on by a thread.

I personally like Target a lot better. They have great deals on diapers. Kmart has awesome deals on baby clothes, ShopKo has clothes that aren't ripping or falling apart on me after a few months of wear. I really don't go to Wal-mart all that much anymore.

What doesn't walmart sell, honestly? There's one by my house that has a Mcdonalds, Salon, Cafe, and a car rental all in it. I think it's funny though, anytime I go in there I can nevvver find the thing I'm looking for.

I find taht funny actauly, I mean what Goth or demented person wouldn't love to have a casket, especily if they can turn it into funiture? and not to mention, what peron in their ever loving mind wouldn't love to play one sick prank on unsuspecting people? EPECIALY on Halloween or Friday the 13th?

As for the wal-Mart thing...yeah I agree with you on that, Wal-Mart is slowly but surely taking over the world

Wow, that's kinda creepy. I never head about Wal-Mart doing things like that. Well, in this economy, I suppose that a cheap casket would be a good thing. But still. I wonder what aisle they put that in O.O

I don't know, some people might like to avoid the middleman. Most people when they have to buy these kinds of things are rather in a daze and just point or give a maximum price. I don't think it much matters either way though.

MacSen, I visited a friend in NC and they had the same issue there, where there had been a new Walmart built across town and the old building just sat there. Kind of rude to the community, in a way.

Wow, I haven't heard of that, though I do find it interesting. Disturbing? Well, not really. Perhaps that's just the kind of mind I have, but it is rather strange. I don't see the lines of people demanding caskets during Black Friday.... although that would be poetic in a sick kind of way. :3

For some reason I don't think it'll be long before they produce "Great Value" caskets. . . - _- I've always thought going to wal-mart was mildly perturbing with the variety of people who shop there, but now I'm going to have to fear people offering my grandmother caskets when we go in there. . .:o

Sweet - now that I don't have to spend so much on grandpa's funeral, I can go spend all my savings on hookers and whores. Thanks Wal-Mart for your caskets and now burial plots!

I have to say, I find it incredible that WalMart has decided to broaden its already massive marketing and try to help people by affordable caskets. I won't say it isn't a little weird, because it is certainly also that, but I still think it's awesome. I have wondered what the shipping must cost to have one of those caskets sent to you though. Can't imagine.

I just found out that the Walmart near my parents had them in stock and in the store when they opened. I've also checked with a lot of friends back there who say that they don't go to walmart because of the high costs of low prices.

From what I saw on the news, I just thought that the caskets could only be bought online. I had no idea they were in the store. That seems incredibly tasteless. Who wants to go to the store and buy groceries and then walk past the "Casket Aisle"? Too weird.
