"I am speaking of Matron Selk of the Toshiba house. As to your other question, I am the red rain of fire in the mountains, death from the sky. I might be nice and tell you if you can't figure it out." She played with the few strands of hair, rolling them through her fingers. So silky...

"Selk? But....Selk?! But she was the matron's daughter! Well, I guess it's nice to have another person running this place. I didn't really like her mother. So Matron Selk, did she bring that vampire girl who's with Fayne?" He asked then shook his head. "Nevermind, I didn't need to ask that question. You're a dragon? I expected dragons to be scary looking but you're really rather pretty." Lorn's hand moved to his mouth. That slipped from his mouth, he hadn't meant to say it aloud.

Neam's smile softened. These people were so hidden in their lies, it felt odd to one to just tell the truth. "yes, and there is also a dhampire, and there was a lycan,'" she explained. "There is also a doppelganger, or something of the like." She slinked around Lorn, still playing with his hair. "And dragons are only truly frightening when they wish to be, it's one of our gifts."

"Well please don't be frightening around me. I would probally freak out a little bit." He reached up and poked the hand that was touching his hair. "Is there something wrong with my hair? Or is this normal?" He asked looking to her with a slight smile showing shockingly white teeth that contrasted greatly with his dark skin and matched his perectly white hair. "Are you planning to stay here for long? Where are you staying?"

Neam let the hair fall. "It's a facination of mine. My true form doesn't have hair, so it's something of a curiosity to me." She dropped her gaze to the rest of the drow. "I wasn't planning on staying much longer than it took to get my armor. There isn't really a pressing need for me to return, though. And I'm staying in a somewhat small room, though it doesn't bother me."

"I hope the armor takes a long time to finish. I do wish to get to know you better." Lorn reached over and touched her hair. "You do relize this stuff growing from your head now is hair." He grinned and took her hand. "Miss. Neam it was great to talk with you. I do wish to see you soon. But I must get going." He kissed her hand softly. "But if you are not doing anything you may come with me for a bit."

((It's an underground city, complete with fortresses in it. They could leave said city, but most would get eaten by underdark critters))
"I do find that I am at a loss of something to do," she said, smiling at the kiss. "And I do believe that I would like to get to know you better, as well. I shall walk with you a ways." She pulled a few strands of her own hair forward. "Mine is so coarse, almost like a horse's tail. I find it interesting that humans and demi-humans have such varied textures in their hair, as well as the curls and waves that show up in some."

((LOL< so sorry for my absence. :headdesk: Man, I feel so neglecting right now. Good for Lorn! Drakina can now have someone to RP with. :XD))
Selk purred, keeping her gaze forward as Vik rested his chin on her shoulder. Honestly, she wasn't as freaked out about the eating part - she expected it. And she was curious. She'd heard of vampires at work, never seen one though . . . and certainly had never felt it. Her mood had lifted a bit, though she was still a bit . . . well, easily peeved. The dark elf brought her black hand up to the half-breed's cheek, taking a quick breath.
"Is there anything you'd like to see while you're down here, Vik?" Her purple eyes half closed, and she smiled a bit. "Anything at all?"
-
Tilting his head a bit, Fayne merely stepped back toward the door. The blind male merely stepped back out into the hallway, listening to the voices of Neam and his earlier training partner. Lorn, if he remembered correctly. Instead of turning his face to Holly, the weapon master spoke while facing straight ahead.
"Let us work on your handwork again," he said in a calm tone, ignoring the slight sting on his hand. They were soon at the training room, and the dark elf reached back to make sure the blindfold was securely tied behind his head. "More dagger techniques as well." A blade flickered into his dark hand suddenly, and Fayne turned to face the vampire. "Begin when you're ready."

(XD hi Esmme! Nice of you to join us. :))
"Can't we do something that doesn't involve anything sharp and painful? I'd rather not know how much it hurt Alex. I'm not really in the mood." Holly had followed behind him completely ignoring the two in the hall. "And I have a few questions; One, where did that blade come from? It appeared out of thin air! Second, what's with the bandana? Doesn't make your head itch? Third, How did you get to be blind? Were you born that way? "
"I think your hair is unique and beautiful. Just like you." Taking her hand he led her outside of the large building to am area of smaller buildings. My home is a rather far walk. I hope you don't mind. You're welcome to stay for a while. I live aone so you won't feel as if the rooms are tiny." Lorn smiled at her glad his skin was dark enough to hide the blush on his cheeks.

Slowly straightening, Fayne frowned a bit. "Quite curious today, aren't you?" The black-skinned elf slid the blade into its sheath under his sleeve, showing the vampire where it was hidden. One of many . . . very many. "My sight is something I do not enjoy speaking of, Holly." Slowly his hand moved to touch the fabric over his eyes, and the dark elf shook his head. "It is an event I do not wish to relive." As soon as the words escaped his lips, an image flashed through his mind.
Blood. A flash of blinding light. Trapped - held. Punishment . . . dealt with a painful strike.
A slight shudder coursed through the drow. "Even a weapon master must learn how to survive here." His voice was low, rough - full of unwanted pain and suffering. He hadn't always belonged to the Toshiba household - not when he was younger.
Not wanting to speak of his eyes, which were scarred with a horrid type of magic and punishment, Fayne turned his face away from Holly as though she might see through his blindfold and witness his scars. "Is there anything in particular you'd like to learn?" he asked in a husky tone, listening for her movement and reply.

(OMGSH SHE"S BACK LOL HOLA LADY ESMME!!! XD)
The half breed had already closed his eyes by the time her hand came to rest on his cheek and he smiled at her gentle touch as he processed her question in his head. "Is there anything I want to see? Hmm... what exactly is there to see down here, I really don't know a great deal about your culture merely the basics," he said with a tone that told he was rather curious. Then he added, "Or rather was there something you wanted to show me specifically?" The smell of her blood was starting to get to him but he had grown rather comfortable leaning on her shoulder, so he elected to stay there although he had to clinch his jaw the whole while he was resting.

(@Marsyas....excited much?)
Holly walked over closer to him and wrapped her arms around him. "Yeah, I know you don't seem to like hugs, but oh well." She tried to make that sound like somewhat of a joke but didn't do so well. "I'm sorry I brought that up. I didn't mean to upset you, or bring back horrible memories. I won't ask about it again. Please remeber that if you ever want to talk about it I'm not going anywhere." Pulling her arms from around him she thought for a moment. "I don't know...what do you suggest? Oh, and why do you keep so many blades under your shirtsleeve? What if you ever fell over and landed on them and they cut into your skin or something? Wouldn't that hurt?"

((*laugh* Hello, Marsyas. *nods and pats his head* Glad to see you, too.))
Selk purred, and slowly picked up the last piece of food in front of her, popping it into her mouth and chewing slowly. "I think you should see the library. I don't know if you're much of a reader, half breed, but there is much there that interests even me." The drow slowly let her hand slip away from his cheek, glancing at Vik out of the corner of her eye. "You won't be able to read more than half of what's there, but I can translate if you wish."
-
As soon as Holly's cool arms wrapped about his form, Fayne stiffened, his fingers edging toward a small blade he kept hidden in his belt. He knew she meant no harm, but it was instinct - people didn't get this close to you in the Underdark . . . the only time they did was when they were trying to kill you quietly. Staying still, the blind male merely let his "gaze" linger on the far side of the room until she pulled away, asking about his blades.
He couldn't help but smile slightly. "They wouldn't hurt me," the drow slowly rolled up one sleeve to reveal a small sheath. "They are covered blades, Holly. I wouldn't be able to move if they weren't." Fayne reached up to touch the vampire's shoulder. At first it looked like he was seeking comfort, but then it became realized that he was only trying to solidify that she was standing where she was. "Every drow carries many weapons that you don't see."
Shaking his head, the weapon master slowly turned away from Holly, taking a slow breath. "Perhaps you would like to explore the city a bit? See which areas you are welcomed in, and which you should avoid?" With Fayne, everything seemed to be a lesson in some way or another.
((Fayne = socially awkward/doesn't know how to react to kind things. :XD))

{Fayne=has some issues when he can't relize holly likes him XD
Holly=getting very annoyed at Fayne for not noticing.}
"Oh...Okay, that's good." Holly said nodding at the fact they were covered. "So I shouldn't get on a drow's bad side because they could kill me with a wepon I don't see untill it's to late?" A small laugh came from her. "Yeah, seeing the city would be kinda cool. I haven't seen anything other then this place. Well except right when we got here...but that doesn't count cause we weren't really looking at the city. " She smiled slightly. Fayne really had feelings! So the whole faking as if nothing hurt him so wasn't true. He was hurt by whatever happened to his eyes. This new discovery amazed her.

((Fayne: <--- knows, but his inner "drow" won't admit to his suspicions. :XD))
The drow nodded, and then stepped toward the door without saying anything else. "First we can see the rest of the grounds. There isn't much to see that might interest you, other than the hatchery." Fayne smiled a bit. "As you would imagine, we don't have what you would call horses here. Underground, we use lizards."
Walking into the hallway, the dark elf motioned vaguely for Holly to follow him. Luckily, even blind, he knew the city like the back of his hand. He would be able to guide the vampire about with very little mistake. Their first stop, as the weapon master had said, was the lizard hatchery. It was the warmest place in the cavern, since the reptiles enjoyed the heat. Large beasts, each of them the size of a usual stag, hissed and made cooing noises as the two of them entered the large dome-shaped stable-like building.
Stepping right up to a stall a few doors down, Fayne let the dark navy lizard sniff his hand. "This is Nightshade," he said quietly, stroking the scaled nose gently. "I took him as my own mount when I was a child." Just as every drow did when they came of age, they took on a lizard mount, training it to their fitting.

"Lizards?!" Holly exclaimed, her eyes widened. Following him, she was starting to freak out a bit. Could lizards tell she was afraid? "Ummm.." Was all she could manage to say as they walked in. The heat was almost uncomfortable to her. She didn't sweat from heat but she felt it alot more then a normal being would. "Nightshade, what a great name." Holly was being sarcastic to hide her fear. Being her normal worrywart self she kept looking around her expecting a lizard to jump up and kill her.

((LOL, well . . . *giggle* He might not agree, but I do. :D))
Fayne tilted his head, listening to Holly as she spoke. "Perhaps the city now?" He heard something in the woman's voice, but he couldn't quite name it. Fear? Uncertainty? He wasn't sure. Her movements were a bit shorter than usual, which meant she was uncomfortable. The blind male smiled a bit, and then reached out to grab the edge of her sleeve. "The streets are full of different colored fires for each household. You would enjoy the light."
The Faery Fire wasn't bright, nothing was in the Underdark, but the multicolored glow that came from the drow city was breathtaking. Fire bordered many different houses and fortresses, licking at banners and other stone outcroppings through the entire city. The Toshiba household had dark crimson flames gently teasing their borders and various bits of window and stone.
As Fayne led Holly out of the hatchery and into the courtyard, he let his hand slip around her wrist so he wouldn't loose track of her. "Tell me what you see." Looking out over the cavern city, the dark elf smiled a bit. He still remembered what it looked like. He couldn't forget. No one could, after seeing such beauty.

{Fayne is a stinky head.}
"It's fascinating. And mesmerising. I swear I could watch this for hours and never once would it look exactly the same. Fayne, it's a million different colors! How do they do that? Flames shouldn't just stay over one place. Don't they spread? Is that why everything is stone? So the fire doesn't burn it? It's magical how there is an errie glow to the whole place. I thought the underdark was suppose to be ugly, but it's not. You've seen this right? Before when you were younger?" Holly almost didn't even notice that his arm was around her. She knew it wasn't anything more then making sure she didn't run off. It was as if the whole place were enchanted, like in a fairy tail. Or mysterious like in an old legend. "Would the flames burn to the touch?"

In response, Fayne held his hand in front of him, suddenly cupping a small purple flame that licked at his palm softly. "It's a magical flame," he explained, smiling as Holly's voice rose with excitement. "The drow create them with inherent abilities. They stay where we wish them to, they move as we wish them to." His voice was hushed, and he held the small fire out before the vampire as though prompting her to touch it. With his arm about Holly's shoulders, the drow looked as though he was showing her a small secret.
"The city is something one can never forget." Fayne let his hand rest on the vampire's opposite shoulder, merely resting his arm across her shoulders in a nonchalant movement. "I saw it nearly every day when I was little. It's been years, but I'd imagine it hasn't changed."
He wouldn't admit it to himself, but he loved the way she sounded so excited, so amazed. Fayne held the fire before them for a few more moments, smiling inwardly. She wasn't so bad, really.

"That is the coolest thing ever!" Holly exclaimed touching the flame he held in his hand. "I'm glad you know what it looks like. That way you know I'm not kidding about how amazing it is." She giggled slightly and watched the flame pretty much dance around his palm. "Fayne? Please don't get mad at me for asking this...but do you wish you could still see?" Honestly she wanted to know. She hadn't ever known anyone who was blind before so it was a new thing to learn about. The question wasn't meant to ruin the moment of her amazment considering she was still staring at the flame in awe.

He stood up to his full height half intrigued and half unable to resist the urge to bite her that he was having, "The library huh?" Tapping his chin a few times he looked up, to be honest he really wasn't able to see a great deal when they first arrived here but his vision had adjusted a quite a bit since then. Fayne smiled slightly, spreading out his fingers and letting the Faery Fire linger on the vampire's hand, and then return to his hand. "I do," he replied quietly, a grim smile on his face. "It's like being kept in a dark room. Even if you open your eyes, you don't see what you know is in front of you." Thank goodness I know this land already. "But a drow doesn't need eyes. The ones that do die off too quickly." Calling on the second of his racial abilities, a globe of darkness flit over them, magically making a dark mist flow over them. Even with a flashlight, no light would have broken through that orb. He knew that Holly would be as blind as he was while in that orb.
"This is all I see, day after day." The drow gave Holly's shoulders a small squeeze. "And though I have grown used to it, I will never stop wishing I could see again." The darkness drifted away, letting their fire-light scene resume. The purple flame that was once only in his hand was now spreading over his arm and shoulders, flitting across to Holly to tease at the ends of her hair and fingertips.
-
"This way, guardian."
Selk stood, smiling as she headed for the door. It was a few hallways over, and a flight of stairs up, when she came to a stop before magically rune-covered doors. "Here," she muttered, pressing her hand against the door until she felt the mystical lock shift open. Flashing with a dull light once, the double stone doors swung silently open, revealing shelves full of books and scrolls, tomes and loose papers. It wasn't the cleanest area in the house, but it was orderly enough. Instead of telling the half-vampire about the contents of the library, the matron merely gave him a small shove, turning to dash off behind a few of the bookcases.

"I wish you could see again. I think it would make you happier. You know, if I could I would give ou my sight. The darkness is kind of relaxing. I guess I would miss my sight after a while but I'd rather have you see. After so many years of being a vampire...well most stuff I see is the same." That was honestly what she wanted. He seemed to not like being blind she could tell. Holly giggled as the flame spread and watched it with wonder.
"I don't think anything will attack us, so I'm sure you'll be happy." Lorn walked into the city. "Did you see the underdark yet? I'm not so great at giving tours but I can say it is something to see." He smiled at her. "I do hope you'll like my home."

Vik smiled when she called him guardian, then followed the woman without hesitation up to a door that was sealed by magical runes. He watched as she placed her hand on the doors and they swung open revealing a room full of well, books. It was larger than he had thought but then again it was a library. Having his attention on the books and what he could possibly learn he hadn't expected Selk to give him a shove a dash off. He was confused for a moment until it finally clicked, 'So this is to be a game huh?' he thought to himself. 'Well all games should have a prize otherwise there is not as much incentive,' he figured, then calling out to the woman in hiding, "I have a proposition for you Selk. If I catch you..." he paused with a grin creeping onto his face. Then continuing said, "I get to take a drink of your blood, if you have any stipulations of your own state them now, but know this... they won't matter," he finished with that same grin on his face as he folded his arms across his chest to wait a few moments.
