Saul parked his Volvo in the spot closest to the double doors. In front is the sign reading, General Manager. For the past 5 years he had been parking in this spot, for the past 5 years he had been the General Manager of Muncie toothpicks, LLC. As he got out, he pressed the lock button on his key and stuffed it in his suit jacket pocket. He walked into the office and greeted the receptionist as he took the elevator up to the top floor. It was just now turning 7:05 as he looked at his watch. Most employees wouldn't be here until 9 o' clock, but being the general Manager came with certain responsibilities and duties. Besides, Saul liked getting up early. Everything was quiet and peaceful, and when the sun rose it was like living in a painting.

He walked into his office, even his secretary didn't come in until 8, so no one greeted him as he entered. He could hear the sound of a truck backing into the loading bay as he sat in his chair. He remembered when he was 17 and worked in a factory assembling tables. He thought a factory job was a good one to have. I built character. Not one you want to keep forever though, you have to move up sometime. He placed his thermos down, unscrewed the top, and took a big sip. He was awake enough not to need it, but it had become a habit.

He loaded up his computer while he sorted through the mail in his basket. Today was the day they were going to start planning for the open house for families. They did it once every year and everyone seemed to have fun. His computer loaded up and after he checked his e-mail he looked up his favorite news site, reading headlines, stocks, and the lifestyles section.

sit at my dinning room table and take a sip from my coffee. It has a slightly unusual taste to it. It might take a little while to get used to the milk here. Although I should be fine, as I am an adapter. Just like my ancestors upon migration to New Zealand were able to tame the savage land through hard work and determination. As I share their genes, I have no doubts that I too will be able to adjust to this brave new world.

Saul got back from lunch at his favorite Mexican restaurant. It was 2:30. Saul was used to taking late lunches. He got very caught up in his work and usually didn't leave for lunch until he found himself doing nothing. Every now and then he would forget about lunch entirely. He greeted all the people he passed as he made his way back up to his office. He stopped at his secretary's desk and asked her to make a reservation at Bella Ciao's for Friday night. It was his 23rd anniversary.

He sorted through some new mail and got back to work. He made a call to their manufacturer to file a complaint about some boxes they had been getting that had been soaked with some liquid. The call took a long time and was very stressful. At the end of it, Saul was left with a splitting headache. He took an Excedrin and paged the secretary to tell her to hold his calls.
