I swear, if he does one more thing, I'll just kill him.
I was working on a pixel. It was cute. Real nice. I even had Fai D Flowrite on it. I worked on it last week, but put it off for a bit. I swear, I'll shoot him for this one:
My father 'updated' the computers. They all are windows 7. Ever use the MS Paint on there? Did you really? Well then I feel gravely sorry for you. For your everyday mother/grandmother/rock out there, it's cute. For you pixel artists out there, you all probably cried with me. Seriously, realistic oil tool? It's unrealistic and un-fun.
Some of the basics are still there. Eraser, eye-dropper, Fill tool. But I was dependent on the marker tool and line tools. There is still a curve tool, but it's not pixelated. So is the straight line tool.
All of my files are still there. The collab with my friend is still there, crying to be completed. Don't worry little vampire lolis, I finish you soon, hush hush, blame Windows7.
My question is what to do from here. In a sense, I probably can complete everything, it'll just be a tad harder. If I can do either of these two options, that'll help:
1) Does anyone know how I can convert back to Vista's or XP's MSP? Having my beautiful set up back will make things greatly better.
2) I have Photoshop CS3, and I heard pixels can be done on photoshop. Is that so? If so, does anyone have a tutorial that makes sense? I'm not very good at photoshop, but with some work, I probably be able to use it just fine.

Pixels can be done on photoshop. If anyone says otherwise I'll send them my psd file of pixel pokemon I did YEARS ago in ps 5 lol. Granted I go have an animated seel I did earlier this year in CS2 :D.
You'll want a transparent bg when you make your new file. Zoom in real close, I believe around 400%, as well that way you can get the pixel by pixel definition you want. Use the pencil tool.
I hope that helps a little.

As far as I know, any imaging program with a layering tool should work for pixel art, so using Photoshop should work for you. I personally use GIMP, but that's because I be too poor to afford Photoshop.
And for a moment there you had me thinking that your father accidentally deleted your piece, and I would have cried with you. I've lost several hours of pixeling before, so I know just what that feels like.

Photoshop isn't as intuitive, but it's certainly useable for pixel art. You have the added benefits of true transparency and layers. As far as I know bezier curves in PS are anti-aliased only, but I rarely use them so I haven't looked very hard.
Like SamuraiPanda said, use the pencil tool: pixel lines with a variety of brush shapes and sizes. Shift+click while drawing to make a straight line to the place you click.
Keyboard shortcuts also make the lack of right-mouse-button erasing less painful: (assuming they're the same in your version of PS, mine's a bit older) just type "E" to switch to eraser and "B" for brush, similar for many other tools. While drawing, you can use the eyedropper without changing tools by holding down Alt.
Hope some of that helps. ._.

You can use Photoshop for pixeling, like mentioned above, or GIMP. Thee is also Paint.net and Sumo Paint, both of which are free. ^_^

you could try downloaded the old paint.net program,
but i'm not sure if it works with windows 7.
but there are a lot of programs (adobe, gimp, etc) that have
a binary option, which would make it pixelated.
i would suggest downloading some of those programs.

Oh no are you serious!?!? That sucks! Wow... who knew windows even remembered their long lost DOStastic Paint program... Maybe you can get the old program from... ahem ahem.. utorrent or thepiratebay.org or something T_T shifty eyes.
There are also proably lots of pixel programs out there if you really like doing that art. Maybe this is your chance to explore a proffessional program! ^_^
Here, this might help:
Deluxe Paint, a graphics editor for the Amiga frequently used by demoscene pixel artists.
GrafX2, a free software bitmap editor.
Cosmigo Pro Motion, a professional graphics editor used for creating images and animations with pixel precision, it has a similar design to Deluxe Paint.
Microsoft Paint, the raster graphic editor bundled with Microsoft Windows.
Habbo hosts a contemporary discussion forum for pixel art
There are links on the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_art at the bottom.

You should try downloading Animation Shop Pro 7 or Paint Shop Pro 3 (it should have animated shop pro 7 included]
Brush is at 1px by default and doing animations is super easy. Also has a line tool
