"Well, I guess we should check out engineering, see who actually is here and who isn't." The Captain headed back through the door, and over to a door labled Lift 3 and pressed a button. "Might as well cut through level Nine while we're at it, eh? I'm intrested to see the crew's quarters, if you don't mind me checking it out." The door parted, revealing a small elevator, with room for about 6 people comfortably. "Here we go."

"They don't have to check in or anything so you can fill out a crew log, or anything?" she asked, looking at Captain Jillian a moment before looking back to where she was walking, trying to memorize the ship. Amelia stood by the Captain at the lift and listened to her suggestion about checking out the ninth deck as well. When asked if she minded she instantly responded, "Oh, no, of course not. I haven't seen it either, so it's perfectly fine with me." she smiled a little, in what she was hoping was a reassuring way. The First Officer boarded the lift after her and looked all around it, including the ceiling. She liked getting a sense of what everything was like, even places she might never look again.

"No," she responded, stepping into the lift, "I have a crew log already. The bridge crew, you included, need to be on the bridge by 9:00 am. The entire crew needs to be aboard by Noon. At noon, everyone but the bridge crew and security are to report to their rooms, while I supervise security in a room by room confermation that everyone is aboard." The door closed, but the captain didn't move. The Elevator, an oval shaped lift, was painted with a peach-colored paint, and had a navy-blue carpeted floor. It seemed almost out of place for the ship. A bright Red #7 glowed on the door, but there was no sign of buttons to press. "We launch and head for the edge of the system at 5:00, barring-" She turned to the doors as she realised they hadn't started moving yet. "Right, I forgot. Deck 9." A second later, the elevator began to desend. "Voice activated, or manually with that," she pointed at a small box on the roof of the lift, which had a open handle on the side. "Where was I? Oh, right. So, We launch at Five, barring some kind of major problem. With the estimated power in the Sub-light engines, that means we'll clear the system at around 7:00, and make our sublight jump at 7:05 or so." The elevator stopped, and doors opened.

Amelia looked around, then back to the captain as she began to speak. "Ah, I see. I just thought they would need to check in one by one to be checked off, but seeing as security is going to check them in their assigned rooms, that idea was null and void." she smiled slightly. She smiled again at the voice activation on the lift, which made sense, until several people tried to activate it at once.

The first officer looked out the doors of the lift, unsure what to expect, but let the Captain make the first move out, figuring she would want to lead, as she had been. She listened, trying to memorize the schedule for the launch. "Where am I to report, and at what time?" she asked, hoping to clarify.

Jillian smiled as she stepped off the lift. "Sorry, I know that was a mouthful. Be on the Command Deck by 9:00. It's only about 6:00 now, so you've got plenty of time." She looked down the hall, getting her bearings, then headed right towards 9-23. "Honestly, I think USF command WANTED me to check them off one by one. Luckily, someone realized that would take forever normally. I only have to account for the command crew, which is why they need to be on the Bridge by 9:00." She stopped at the door marked 9-23. "Well, this one is yours. Shall we?" She motioned to a hand scanner, which acted as a lock for the door. There was no sign of a handle.

Amelia wasn't sure if she should share but ended up speaking anyway, "Well, in my opinion ma'am, it would have been easier to check them one-by-one. The way you're doing it, you have to go over the entire ship, but checking them off one-by-one means they go to you, and you get to see them up close to remember their faces." If Amelia were captain, she thought that was how she would have done it, but then again, she wasn't a captain, Nor did she have much desire to become one, so whatever the captain wanted to do would be done, and she was fine with that.

When the approached the room, Amelia was a little surprised that even the doors were electronically activated. A hand scanner seemed convenient enough though. She placed her hand on the pad and waited for the beep of success to occur, then the door slid to the left with a whoosh sound, much like the lift and all the other doors. She walked directly into her new room, figuring the captain would want her to go first, since it was new territory to both, but this was technically Amelia's territory.

Her room was a single, naturally, and there was one bed, neatly made, in the middle of and against the wall that you looked at when you first walked in. It was fairly light in the room- light enough to see, but dark enough not to hurt ones' eyes. There was a desk and dresser, as well as a closet. It was simple, but it was good enough for Amelia. She had been expecting less that she had gotten in the first place. "Well, this is it. What do you think?" she asked the captain. Her bag wasn't there yet, but she assumed it would be loaded with all the other crew's things. She, being outside of the command crew, had the option of bringing her own things aboard, but she didn't feel she deserved that special treatment. She looked back to the captain, waiting for a reaction.

Jillian nodded at her interjection, but made no comment on it as the door opened and she followed Amelia inside. "Cozy." She looked around, smiling. "Very efficient." She glanced back at Amelia, leaning against the wall. "How are YOU liking your quarters, then, Amelia?"

((Sorry for short post, I wasn't sure where to go from here, and I didn't want to just get up and leave so quickly.))

((That's fine. n_n;))

Amelia nodded, looking back at the captain, "They will suffice. Simple, cozy, and easy to keep organized. I can work with this just fine." she smiled. She had been unsure of what to say, and the words she chose seemed acceptable to her, so she hoped they would do for her captain as well. In truth, this could never be considered home, and that was the one thing she didn't like about it. It was too uniform, too simple. Amelia had always had a flair for the dramatic and overdone, so this was like a cake with no icing, no decoration, just bland. She hadn't thought to bring much decoration outside the simple luxuries she couldn't bare to leave behind, even for a short while.

She shrugged it off, however. It was going to have to be home for her time on the ship and she knew it. She would make dew with what she had. The first officer looked around the room one last time, then turned and faced the captain, "Well, ma'am, is there anything else you'd like to view on this deck, or are we headed onward?" she asked.

"No, I think we can head on. WE'll check out Engineering next, see who all is onboard."

She headed out of the room quickly, making her way out and down the hall. At the far end of the hall, a double door marked Engineering 9 ended the hall. It slide open for them as they walked up to it, and stood in the doorway.

The room took up three decks. Three Giant Tesla Coils sat suspended in the center of the room. They were within a clear container, and every once in a while they shot electricity from one ot the other. Beneath it, a large sealed chamber with two tinded windows was marked WARNING: HEAT HAZARD: DO NOT OPEN. At the top, above the Tesla coils, a series of wires ran up into the ship. All around the area, computers and electronics were flashing and beeping, and about 15 people were running around monitering them.

Amelia merely nodded in response, following the captain. She was both impressed and a little shocked at all the commotion in the room, she observed everything with great care however, curiosity getting the best of her. She was most impressed by the coils when the electricity shot through them. It was pretty, in a science nerd sort of way.

Jillian looked around, impressed with what she saw. "Well, this looks nice. Lets see what we've got." She stepped forward, standing at attention and clicking her boots. One of the technitions looked over, then glanced back up from the console he was working on. He stood, and saluted. "Captain on the deck!" Those that weren't to busy to stop stood and saluted as well. Jillian smiled, and relaxed. "At easy. I'm Captain Jillian Croshaw." She glanced back. "This is Commander Amelia Palmentier, my First Officer."

((Do you want the Chief Engineer, or shall I take him/her? I figured I'd offer before I made one myself.))

((You can, I guess. n_n; ))

Amelia nodded once as a greeting, "Greetings, pleasure to meet you." she said simply. She wasn't sure what to say, she figured she would keep it formal and let the Captain do most the talking. Amelia would only interject where she thought appropriate.

Jillian glanced forward, looking over the group of Engineers. "Who's in charge here?"

A tall woman with slightly greying hair stepped forward. "Chief Engineer Terresa Robbins, Ma'am."

Jillian walked forward and extended a hand. "A pleasure. Everything alright down here?"

She took it, nodding, but remaining straightfaced. "Yes, ma'am. We're all set here. Everything will be ready for the launch."

Jillian nodded. "Very good. Well, we're just inspecting the ship, so as you were." She turned to see if Amelia had any questions, then headed for the door.

Amelia nodded a goodbye as well. The conversation wasn't very involved, so Amelia never had anything to say. The most impressive thing was that most the crew seemed to be female, which was the opposite of what the first officer was expecting. She followed the captain out and looked to her, "So, where to now, ma'am?"

She smiled. "Well, lets see, that was Engineering, we've seen the bridge and medical... I guess all that's left is the Second floor mess hall." She grinned, glancing back at Amelia. "You're going to love this." She headed for the nearest lift. "Deck two" she told it as the doors slide closed.

Amelia was confused and it showed in her expression, "Love it, why?" she asked, brushing a lock of her hair from her face as they entered the lift. She smiled a little inwardly as Captain Jillian instructed the lift vocally. It was still impressive to her.

The Captain turned, looking back a little mischiviously. "You'll see, Number One. In good time."

She turned back and waited. A moment later, the doors parted and they were on the second floor. The lift opened right into the mess hall.

The Mess Hall was large, somewhat domed, and almost completly transparent. Several plants, trees, and statues outlined the area, and tables were spread around. The Earth Hung High above, half bathed in sunlight. A distance away, but still close enough to be visible was the Space Station Luna, an Orbital Moon Space Base that was acting as a Temperary HQ for members of the Legacy mission. The Hall was empty, save for the two of them, but it still felt almost like it had a life of its own.

"Welcome to second floor Mess. What do you think?"

She smiled a little, though with a confused look upon her face. Amelia hadn't been expecting the captain to have any surprises up her sleeves. When the entered the mess hall, her jaw dropped, "This is..." she took a moment to find a word to accurately describe what she though, "remarkable." she finally replied. "This ship is certainly a beauty in its self..." she said.

"I'm sure you will, captain." Amelia reassured her, "And I hope I can serve both her and you as well." she said in a form of agreement. This was her first job as a first officer, being newly promoted, and Amelia was a bit nervous over it. She only had a vague idea of what her duties were, and she earnestly hoped she would be able to do each and everyone of them correctly and to satisfaction. Of course, she had some confidence in her abilities as well.

She looked over at Amelia, looked her up and down, then smiled and nodded. "I'm sure we will both preform admirably, and a hero's welcome will be waiting for us upon returning home. For now, all was must do is look towards the stars, and imagine us being amongst them soon." She put her hands behind her back, grasping them, and turned on her heel towards the Elevator. "Well, shall we head back to the bridge, then, or would you rather head to your quarters till 9?"

Amelia watched the captain eye her, feeling a little uncomfortable at it but keeping her mouth shut on the subject. It wasn't distasteful, just... She didn't know the word for it, but it wasn't bad, per se. "I am sure we will. But to be honest, I wasn't even thinking of a hero's welcome... I was only thinking of the adventure of the journey its self." she smiled a bit, "Let's return to the bridge then. I fear I am too anxious to sit in my quarters." she admitted, following the captain to the lift.

When it reached the 7th floor, she turned and headed for the bridge. "Well, tell me more about yourself, Amelia. As you are going to be my First Officer, I might as well get to know you better." She glanced back with a smile.
