Amelia listened intently, slowly sipping at her lemonade. "Alright, so the only questions I have to ask thus far are: What would we be using the artificial gravity generator for, what are the liklihoods of having to use either of those untested devices, and do they post any substantial threat when used that we know of?" Amelia asked all at once. To her, those were the three most important questions to ask at that moment. While she could think straight anyway; she didn't know what else was to come.

Jillian smiled. "Well, the Gravity Generator is running now. That's how me managed to keep gravity even throughout the entire ship without it spinning. As for the FTL drive, we HAVE to use it to get from one star system to the next. While they won't pose the crew any risk, the problems that could arise are that it could not work, and this mission will be for nothing, or it could fail after the jump, traping us in the Alpha Centuri system until we fix it." She smiled. "Luckily, it's the one piece of equipment on this ship we know the most about. We just couldn't test it until today." She looked back at Amelia as she finished her Lemonaid glass.

Mentally, Amelia slapped herself, feeling stupid that she hadn't realized the gravity device was what was keeping them grounded on the ship. Outwardly, She nodded, "I feel a bit like a fool for not realizing that sooner." she laughed, "Forgive me, but aren't the sublight and FTL drives the same thing?" she asked, "I see the function of the FTL, but what about the sublight; is it simply for shorter jumps?" she asked, then took the last sip of her own lemonade and placed the glass on the desk.

Jillian smiled. "Well, it's easy to not notice something that's working. As for the sublight, it basically acts a our propulsion. We can go at a low speed, or quite fast. But the sublight drive, obviously, can't hit faster-then-light. The FTL, meanwhile, only goes faster then light, so we can't use it for anything but system to system travel. That was how they did it to, so we know don't know if it's a pyshics or technology problem. That's one question we hope to answer out here." She took the glass, and wiped them down with a paper towel, then stuck them back into the desk. "Wow, I am glad to finally talk to someone about that stuff." She looked over her shoulder. "So, listen, you don't mind if we continue this later, right? I suddenly feel like we shouldn't have done this."

"Alright, it's just as I thought with the drives.... But, with the gravity thing, it's just because I'm so used to gravity, I guess." she laughed. Amelia nodded and looked off to the side, "If you feel guilty, then yes, we can put off this conversation." she said, looking back to the captain with a smile, "Until then, what's next on the agenda?" she asked.

Jillian glanced at one of the picture frames. "Well, it's about 8:00 now, which means the bridge crew SHOULD start showing up soon, those early go getter types anyway," She winked at Amelia, then continued "so we should probably get back there. If you want to go stretch or walk the ship once more, feel free, but remember I need the Bridge Crew on deck by Nine." She stood, and headed for the door.

((We should probably come up with the rest of the crew, or at least part of them. If you want, I can control them as NPCs, but if you want a position, you can have it. If you want a crew member position, just come up with who they are and have them show up on the bridge, and we'll have them meet Jillian and then I'll fill the positions you don't want))

Amelia nodded and stood as well, I would prefer to stick with you, if that is alright."[/b] she smiled, heading for the door as well. "I'm afraid if I wander around now, I'll forget where I am going. I'm usually fairy good with direction... but with all the information I've digested this morning, I believe it's better safe than sorry" she laughed.

((Alright. Let's make them NPCs. You can control them if you want, and I'll throw in a few here and there. =] ))

She smiled and nodded, heading out of the door and onto the bridge.

A tall, slim man with sandy brown hair stood looking out the view screen. He turned and saluted as they entered. "Ma'am!"

Jillian blinked, surprised, and matched that salute, then dropped it. "At ease, and please, introduce yourself."

He nodded, dropping his salute. "Amadeus Schrodinger, Ma'am, lieutenant and Helmsmen, at your service." He walked forward, extending a hand, and Jillian took it.

"Capitan Jillain Crowshaw, and welcome aboard." She stepped back to let Amelia introduce herself.

Amelia stepped forward and extended her hand, shaking the man's as well, "And I am First Officer Amelia Palmentier. Pleasure to have met you, Lieutenant." she said, dropping the man's hand after the shake. She then stepped back next to the Captain, clasping her hands behind her back. She wasn't completely sure of what else the protocol was, being in her position, so she decided to stand back and follow Jillian's lead.

The lieutenant nodded to her, taking her hand as well. "A pleasure to meet you both, but here I was thinking I was the first to get here." He smiled at them.

Jillian cracked a smile as well, glancing knowingly at Amelia. "Well, we've been here for a while, but that's fine. So, lieutenant, tell us about yourself. Where are you from, and how long have you served?" She walked to her seat, watching him as she did.

Amadeus nodded, walking to the helmsman seat and sitting in it, then turning it around to face them. "Well, I'm from the Lunar Colony Serenity. My parents are both lifelong spacers, though my dad just does construction. He help with the Mar project." He looked between them. "I've been training to be a convoy pilot, Mars to Luna and back, and I was the top of my class and more, so they put me in this. I can't wait to see what she can do. What about you two?"

Jillian nodded, then smiled at the question, but let Amelia go first if she wanted.

Amelia smiled a bit, following the Captain's example and taking her seat next to her. She listened to the Lieutenant's story and nodded when Jillian didn't answer right away, taking the cue, "I worked with NASA as a scientist until the USF came along, then I became a top scientific consultant. I trained as a space explorer, slowly working my way up until I was assigned as a commander and put here on this lovely thing. This will be my first actual outer-space voyage, as well as first being a commanding officer anyway." she smiled a little, looking down at her lap.
