Have you ever been in a situation when you are trying to get work done, either school or other wise. And there was someone who came up to you and just wouldn't be quiet?

Well, I am at work trying to do my mid terms and this woman I work with keeps talking to me. I don't want to be rude and brush her off...but it's driving me nuts..I cant think and talk at the same time!

What are things you guys do to get people to leave you alone so you can get your work done?

I make bodily gestures that emphasize I actually am doing something so I can send a non-verbal message that I'm busy.

If they take the bait, people will go I'm sorry I thought you weren't busy.

If they don't, then I have to say it to their face.

If they still don't get it, then the last resort would be to excuse yourself from the conversation and continue later.

Trick is to smile and continue being polite. Don't show you're annoyed.

Simply grow a pair and look out for yourself haha to put it nicely! But really it's simple, it's not being rude at all. If you have something you need to do, not only do you need to do it despite what someone else wants, but they will understand. And if they don't F them you know? Just say, "Hey give me a few minutes to do some studying for my mid-term okay? We can pick up again in a few, this is just really important and I need to focus on it a little." They aren't going to be like "Oh well F you." You know? They will totally understand.

And as far as what I do, that's it. I simply let people know how it is. I'm not going to let myself fail or get stressed or frustrated just to listen to someone babble on about something that does not concern me at all what-so-ever ya knooww? :]

No need to even say the last part with the ear.

Simply say, "Excuse me but I have a paper to make?"

And make it sound like you're REALLY polite.

When she's gone, you can go blog your real guts out. XD

lol..that's what I was doing. It could of been worse, she could be the type who likes to stand above you and look at what you are doing. I worked with a guy like that. When I was online he would stand behind me and read what I was reading. I would constantly have to tell him to back off.

Oh that's just being plain rude already. D:

Unless you ask permission, still! It's not good to read off other's shoulders.

Usually if I do work and I can't get it done, it's my own attention span's fault.
D:
It's horrible, I get so off task so easily, I usually end up doodling and then, bam
No more
My paper is then covered in doodles of me probably dancing or doing some silly pose.
xD

I generally say, politely, "Sorry, I'm not giving our conversation my full attention, but I have some really important work that I need to get done quickly. We can talk later, but this is super important." Then, politely ignore them.
