Everyone reads romance novels and says they make it seem so easy to fall in love. Has anyone ever really taken the time to really look at what the characters went through to fall in love? No matter what anyone says falling in love isn’t easy even in books. You always have to become friends first. It’s nice having that someone to talk to. Knowing that if you’ve had a bad day you will always have a shoulder to cry on and that they will always be there for you. When you want to go out you now have someone to go with you. You have to also be willing to build the relationship. That too isn’t always that easy. In half the books they are already in a relationship or just got out of an abusive relationship so they are always holding back. When you come across the character that’s in a relationship already they are keeping secrets. Soon the new someone finds out that secret which most of the time is most always an abusive relationship. Then low and behold you always have your knight in shining armor. When you have the ones that are just out of an abusive relationship they are too afraid to move ahead and have to learn to trust which can always be a long and tiresome process.
You can be in love and be confused. Never knowing exactly what you want or if you have chosen the right path. You have the characters that are always wanting more but are just too afraid to make the first move. Just about 3 out of every 5 books you have your classics shy girl or guy. Some of the things they do just really are so obvious but the other is so worried about whether or not they should make the first move that they don’t see it. This can lead to a lot of mixed feelings. Then once they do notice each other and start to fall in love you always have you first argument and tears. One is always wondering whether they made the right choice over something trivial. They also depending on the argument can start to think they have just gotten into the same type of relationship because it was the first time they saw the others temper.
In the end though they realize though everything it was all worth it. Is that not how our real life relationships work? We realize that this person is the one, this is our soul mate. Whether it took us taking a break from them to see if we are doing right by ourselves or being the strong one and staying to talk it out. Something just happens and you realize that this is the one and nothing will ever change that. If we let them go we go through just about everything including ripping heaven and earth apart to get them back. Then of course comes the famous happily ever after. One day when we least expect it on some out of the blue romantic evening they propose. Of course we say yes and then there is that over the top wedding we girls just have to have. Then there is that one day a few years later that we get to come in and surprise them the same way they got to surprise us and it all starts with a little pink plus sign. From then on there is no more sleeping through the night. Even with that we know we have that happy ending we have always dreamed of. So whether you believe it or not our lives are closer to romantic novels than people think. Books have their fairy tale ends but now you know to take the time to see what it took to get there.

That is why I prefer short shorties or historical romance. Often times there is a longer time frame for the two characters to fall in love, or the characters themselves admit things are going too fast.

In real life that could happen. I know people who suddenly decide that they're "in love" and wham! they're getting really serious a few weeks in. I think it is kinda dangerous.

A big thing to remember is that fiction always mirrors real life or it wouldn't be believable. The thing about romance novels is that there are some that are like pornos (the guy shows up with a pizza and next thing you know...) and some that are long well thought out stories.
