Just then two specials came round the corner and opened their cell. Sami and Sam sprung up still holding each other. The specials muttered something to each other then one came forward and practically ripped Sam off of Sami and choved Sami to the back. They were seperated and there's nothing Sami or Sam could do.

"Is this gonna work?" asked Kaito nervously, as they crouched out of sight behind a wall.
"Maybe. Maybe not," said Ai honestly. It was weird seeing Kaito's usually kind and reassuring face so cruel, so wolflike so... Special. Just looking at him sent chills up her spine. She had avoided looking in the mirror since putting her own mask on, but from the way Kaito avoided looking at her, she could tell she looked the same. It was lucky that they's kept the clothes they'd stolen from the headquarters, because Ai was certain they'd be pushing their luck to get masks and clothes from the Hole in the Wall.
"There!" whispered Kaito, interrupting Ai's thoughts. A hovercar landed just over on the other side of the wall and a Special got out. "Go!"
Ai ran out from their cover, right in front of the Special, only about 2 metres away from him. It was terrifying to be so close to one of them.
"I don't recognise you," said the Special in a business-like tone, a scary frown on his face. "What's your unit and ID number?"
Ai glanced behind the Special and he turned, just in time to catch the blast from Kaito's pistol.
"That was scary," breathed Ai.
"It's gonna get scarier," said Kaito, reaching down and stealing the Special's interface ring. He slipped it onto his finger and said, "Open," to the hovercar. The door swung open and the two of them climbed inside.
"We must be suicidal," said Kaito.
"Yes. We are. Now let's go to the Special HQ."

Meanwhile Sami was asleep so didnt hear the opening and closing of the cell.
Whens he woke Sam was back he looked alright but he was asleep.

Getting inside the HQ had been relatively easy. With a Special's interface ring, they were able to access all doors and lifts. Ai remembered where the holding cells were, and they began checking each one until they reached one of them. Ai put her ear to the door and could swear she heard breathing. The door was locked, but a word from Kaito opened it. That was the great thing about a stolen interface ring.

*cell door?*

Sami looked up as their cell door opened, two really cruel looking specials were at the door. She looked at Sam and ran over to him and dragged him to the back of the cell, she didn't want the specials to take him again.

"Sami?" asked Ai, walking into the cell. Then she realised why they were hiding at the back. "Oh yeah..." She pulled the mask off, the smart-plastic detaching from her skin. "It's me!" Looking at Sami's face, she remembered how guilty she felt, remembered abandoning them both.

Sami looked up in surprise, "AI!!!!" she jumped up and hugged her friend, but Ai didnt hug back, "err Ai what wrong?"

"Well..." Ai took a deep breath. "OMP I'M SO SORRY! I'm sure you must hate me and everything, but I'll do ANYTHING to make it up to you! I'm really so so so sorry, I'll never ever do it ever again but of course I understand you if you don't forgive me!"

Sami was confused, she looked at Kaito but he just shrugged.
"err wait what? why do i have to forgive you?"

"Because... you know, I... abandoned you when me and Kaito escaped," said Ai, looking at the ground and unable to meet Sami's eyes. "We ran off to save ourselves while you two got caught."

Sami sighed, and then grinned "Well it wouldnt have been much help if you got stuck in here too!! And anyway you came back so its all good!!" She hugged Ai and walked to Sam, "They've just brought him back... i dont know what they do to him but he doesnt seem to well..."

Ai and Kaito took a look at Sam. "Who knows what weird things they do here," said Ai with a shiver. "Do you have any idea what they did to him?"

Sami looked down, "no... they just take him out and chuck him back in like this."

"Well we have to get moving," said Kaito. "We're lucky we managed to get this far undetected. Between the three of us we should manage to take him with us..."

"Ok, Ai take the arms ill take the legs, Kaito you're on the look out." Sami said, picking up Sam's legs, she grunted cause they were quite heavy considering he was pretty thin.
"1 2 3 and lift"

Sam was very heavy, but luckily the operation had given Ai and Sami stronger muscles and they were able to lfit him.
"All clear," said Kaito, and they slipped out of the cell. Kaito used the interface ring to lock it again behind them.
"We stole a hovercar," whispered Ai to Sami. "It's this way."

Sami smiled half-heartedly, it hurt to see Sam in this state...
Once they got to the hovercar, they discovered there was a special inside...

The Special looked at each one of them in confusion for a second, with a long, puzzled look at Kaito expecially. Ai could tell he was using his Skintenna, which was telling him that Kaito was somebody else...
"Kaito, take him down, quick!" said Ai.
Kaito quickly pulled out his pistol and shot the Special in the chest. He looked down at his interface ring. "He sounded an alarm, we've got to hurry."

Sami swore under her breath and hoisted Sam into the hovercar, "We've got to go back to his village... it's our only hope!" Sami said as Kaito gave the hovercar directions.

Ai wasn't all that sure if they'd be welcome back at the village, but they didn't have a lot of options. The hovercar lifted into the air, just as a dozen Specials appeared, and started climbing into their own hovercars.
"Full speed?" Ai asked Kaito anxiously.

Sami placed Sam against the side of the hovercar gently. He stirred a little but it would be a whiley before he was back to his old self.

"Check your clothes," said Ai. "They might have sewn a tracker into the fabric."

"Good idea, actually you know what? im gonna striptease so Kaito turn round, Ai you got some spare clothes somewhere?"

"Yeah, in my bag," Ai said, pulling out some plain black clothes she'd picked up somewhere. "I think I'll change too. I don't really like being dressed as a Special. It feels uncomfortable."

Sami reached for Ai's bag and pulled out some plain clothes. She quickly changed and threw the other clothes out of the hovercar.
