I've had users who don't bother to fill out forms for contests or read that our sign ups for Secret Santa have ended. I still have people asking how to post an image. The crew are starting to say we need to start having an application form to join because they're tired of putting up with these moronic users.

So yeah - in an even smaller setting than Mene I was surprised by how many more idiots I had to deal with. Especially the people who PM me wanting an answer to their question yet only to have their PMs set to friends only.
It's not really a smaller setting, though. Guilds are still a part of Gaia. Those 19,000 still came from that 20,000,000. The likelihood of most of those 19,000 out of the entire site being complete idiots is much higher than finding 19,000 idiots on a site with only a little over 67,000.

How many of those people were dumb, anyway? 100? 500? 1,000? Or maybe even 5,000? I doubt that many were involved, but I'll go with that until you give me an actual number. So, 5,000 idiots out of 20,000,000 decided to join your guild. That's still an incredibly small number when compared to the entire site. I don't understand how this is supposed to be shocking. I guess we just think differently.

Well, first off, I was more surprised than "shocked" at the number of stupid people I had to put up with in the first few days of announcing the event. I won't give you official number because that's out right tedious on a subject that's not exactly worth debate. This is an opinionated observation after all and the likelihood of me changing such an observation is quite frankly, none.

The only reason I posted such a topic was the fact that I honestly expected these guild users to be able to do very simple tasks - like filling out a form or posting an image of an avatar. I'm not you, so I don't know how you'd exactly feel when you set up an event only to have it completely misinterpreted.

Anyway, I was never a big fan of using really big numbers so I'm solely going on my own encounters. If you want to use numerical logic, that's fine, it's just not how I personally look at things.

I was not trying to attack you or anything, if that's what you think. This is a discussion forum, and that's all I was trying to do. I was not trying to start a hardcore debate.

We'll agree to disagree, I guess. :)

Agreeing to disagree sounds good xD

On a good note, the people that I am friends with on Gaia are quite wonderful people. I just opened a card box to realize that a majority of those cards are from the users I've met in the guild back in 2005 :3

Aw, that's cool. There really are some nice people still hiding out over there. :XD Guilds are definitely the way to go if you're looking for lasting friends, in my opinion.

Indeed they are. Of course, a lot of people have quit Gaia over the years but some still have hanged around. Most of my friends are now my facebook friends too, so if they do end up leaving Gaia, I still have a way to keep in touch.

The 26th my caption and avatar contests end - I got some pretty good captions but the avatars were a little disappointing with most people using the latest set items. I really wish someone would usesome of the older event items. I guess I have a few more days before I pick the winners though so maybe I'll be surprised.

I've been a member of Gaia since 03, and I agree with the people here who have said it's gotten too big for it's britches. There are simply too many people on the site now for any real sense of community, and with all those people comes the need for more money (thus the inception of the cash shop and all those promotions from movies and stuff). It also doesn't help that there simply are not enough mods to manage every forum. I'm sure those poor people are inundated with reports on an hourly if not minute by minute basis. Without an adequate amount of people to police the rules of the site it's kind of become like the wild west in that order simply can't be enforced.
