"You know what I mean Ava" Shaun said with a smile. They both headed back to base, where they parked they're mechs at a mobile docking station. Shaun got out of the cockpit, stretching from being in the cramp compartment for hours.

Ava laughed at his comment. Yeah, he was too used to her by now. Ava parked her mech a few down from Shaun. She climbed out also stretching all of her joints. A medic walked up to her, checking all of her vital signs, then gave her a pill to take. She took it before walking past them and towards the main door.

Shaun headed for the locker room. he removed his pilot suit and took a much needed shower. He put on some casual wear and headed for the cafeteria to get something to eat.

Ava headed to the women's locker room to change. She took a shower, and changed into a full bodysuit. They were always just much easier. Not only that, between work and sleep, Ava had no time to shop for other clothes. Most of the men in fact just wore whatever they had taken on the first day. Ava headed to the cafeteria and got simple rice and beef, and going over to a table where the rest of the men were sitting.

Shaun looked up and saw Ava sitting down at the table. "I hear empire has all but left the area. Which means we gain some more land."

"That's good to hear" Ava said while taking a bite of her food. "Where did you hear it?"

"From high command as I was making my way down here." Shaun took another bite of food. "I also heard that we're moving out tomorrow to investigate an atomic blast out in the desert."

The shock wave from the explosion to the left of the white mech caused Ulric to brace himself. The union soldier about to shoot at him point blanc had been blasted by one of his men.
"Where's that damned supply caravan?!"
They were losing this battle. Without more ammo, they couldn't maintain there position. They were sent to assist in the siege of a Union base but the enemy had sent reinforcements and the leader for the siege has been killed. Now Ulric was in command. His team needed supplies and the Empire had sent word that the dispatched a caravan to their position. However, it has already been an hour since they last heard from the transporters.
"We'll have to pull out. But first, concentrate your fire on the tanks to the base's left!" he ordered. All available Empire mechs fired the remainder of what they had on the storage tanks, igniting the unstable energy within. The resulting blast managed to temporarily knock out the Union soldiers and destroy a sizable chunk of the base. Ulric has no intention of destroying it as his superiors have need of the facility, but for now it'll be weakened and busy with repairs.
'We'll just have to send another team later' he thought, as he led his troops back to their flying fortress. 'I'm sure HQ will have something to say about this again.'

"Nuclear Radiation. How fun" Ava commented while playing with her food. She took a bite after a while, finishing the meal.

Shaun finished his meal. "Better get some rest, we leave at 0500 tomorrow."

She nodded getting up. "Night Sir" She said heading out of the room. Ava headed back to her room. She had a single room since women in this part of the military had been a bit rare. She undressed and laid down. Looking out the small window.

Being so high in rank, Shaun got his own private quarters. He layed out on the bed, and slept lightly. He always had to be prepared to spring into action at a moments notice.

After a while Ava fell asleep. She slept very lightly. In fact every couple of hours she would wake up and had to force herself to sleep. Each nightmare was new, yet the same.

At 0300, Shaun got up to get ready. He went to the intercom. "Attention troops, we roll out at 0500. Get ready." Shaun headed to put on his suit and and warm up his mech.

Ava jumped up at the intercom. She listened carefully before letting out a very angry sigh laying back down for just a minute. She got up and got changed into her normal attire for missions. She then left the room and headed for the cafeteria. There Ava downed about three coffees to wake herself up. Even with three it took awhile. Her body being so used to the large douse of caffeine.

Shaun prepped his mech. The nanobots had fully repaired the dmage from yesterday. He looked up to see Ava. "Ready for the desert?"

Ava walked into the mech docking station and looked to her commander. A sleepy look in her eyes. "Not really. Let's go though" She said heading to her mech. Hopping into the pilot seat and getting ready.

Shaun got in his cockpit and activated his mech. A hovercarier came down and lifted the mechs into the air, flying them to the desert.

Ava sat back in her seat. Waiting to land. They came upon the site soon enough. Landing, Ava took a few steps forward. Looking to her radar. She noticed a few strange beeps. They were bigger than normal mechs. But what were they?

Shaun also picked up the objects on his radar. "What do you make of it Ava?"

Ava didn't answer back right away. Something was coming there way and fast. Suddenly one of their men exploded right next to Ava. He eyes widened as flashes from her old home ran through her head. She finally snapped back into place. "I-I don't know sir!"

Shaun locked onto the targets and fired a salvo of rockets. He then armed his 105mm cannon and started snipeing. "Defensive manuvers, now!"

[Sorry guys, I won't be on much for the next 2 weeks. I'm visiting relatives for Christmas and I can't guarantee I'll be able to get on. This'll be my last post for a while, even though it's only the second so far :sweat: Happy Holidays Everyone :D]

Ulric made his way to his quarters. The meeting he had with high command had been tiring and annoying. Once again they complained that he should have stayed, even though the second team sent were able to easily overtake the Union base due to his team's sabotage of the energy tanks. At least they clammed up after he brought up the missing supply caravan. It seems the Union had intercepted the transport, another loss they had suffered these past few weeks. The Union had already pushed back most of the Empire forces stationed in the eastern mountains by the desert.
After the metal sliding doors closed behind him, the weary general made his way straight to his bed. He wanted to sleep first before taking a shower since he'll be leading his troops out for another mission soon.

Ava got herself fully armed as a very large object started to fly over the horizon. Another something launched from its side, taking out another mech. Ava fired at the large object, striking it. To what damage though?

Shaun looked up at the object overhead. It was an empire hovercarrier. Shaun fired five missles into it, taking out one of the engines
