Ava was attacking any who came near her. She steeped back a bit. Hearing creaking from underneath her before falling through the ground. Revealing an underground base. A mech came up from the back up her with a heated sword in hand. He sliced down, Ava blocking. He cut though her missiles, making them explode. Sending him back and Ava back. Or at least as far as she could go. Her bottom half still stuck in the base. "Found something Sir.." Ava said a bit dizzy.

Shaun reached down and pulled Ava out of the hole. He then blasted the underground base with hs gernade launcher and flamethrower. "Are you alright?" Shaun radioed to Ava.

Ava stood up straight. Checking her mech's data. "Took a few heavy hits from the explosions. But fine" She told him watching some of the mech's body parts on the screen blink red or yellow. Ava backed away from the hole, hearing a few screams from some of the people down there.

Shaun blasted another helicarrier with his plasma cannon, watching it explode in the sky. The rest of the enemy retreated. Shaun radioed the sub about the underground base, then radioed Ava. "They're coming to takes us out off here. Thy're going to bring the hammer down on the island.

"The hammer down..." Ava repeated to herself. She knew what that meant. "i thought we needed the island?" She said to him.

"Not if its an empire base. Besides, the other island is still safe." A helicarrier arrived and picked up Shaun and Ava. Shaun watched from a distance as the unions Ion Partical Cannon blasted the island, turning it into glass.

Ava leaned against her hand which rested on the arm of the pilot's chair. The island was shot, turning it to complete glass. It looked beautiful from their height. At the same time Ava had scene it a few times already. As they landed, Ava stepped out. Stretching high into the air. The mission had only taken a few hours. Much shorter at least compared to other missions. The rest of their squad was back also.

Shaun stepped out out of his mech. He had a brief conversation with the captain, then turned to his men "Attention men. I've just been informed that we have secured the other island, and that empire has fully fled the area. We leave for home base tomorrow. Dissmissed." Shaun walked over to Ava. "You'll be glad to know that your mech is fully repaired, and should be functional by the time we get back."

Ava smiled at the good news. "That is great. I think I pretty much destroyed this one" She said pointing behind her as a piece from the chest fell off. She stretched again. Over ready for a nice night to sleep. It would come tomorrow night though. At least not with the other women in the room. Ava learned that she worked in the office of the captain. Filling out paperwork all day. "If you would excuse me sir. I think I am going to go find a library or something to sleep in.." she told him very serious.

"Ava, if you need a pace to sleep, there is more than enough space in my room. Why don't we share?" Shaun said, trying to sound offical and not inviteing.

Ava's eye shifted back and forth. Making sure no one would catch her comment. "Are you sure there will be sleeping involved?" She even raised her eyebrow a bit for effect. Not waiting for an answer though, she continued. "It sounds good to me. I was ready to shoot the women last night. Thank you sir." Ava said sounding official herself. Her roommate then walked past them. Organizing some papers.

Shaun headed off to the showers, then got some dinner. He then went to his room and layed on the bed, listening to music.

Ava checked her room. Finding a letter on her bed. Ava shoved it into her pocket, deciding to read it later. The address on it was one she did not recognize any how. Ava then got changed into a pair of sweat pants and a plain black shirt before heading to the caption's quarters. She knocked once before entering, hearing music from the other side. She closed the door, seeing the commander laying down. "Hey Shaun" she said coming in and taking a seat next to him on the bed.

Shaun looked up at Ava. He had been lost in thought. "Hey Ava, I was just going over today's mission. I can't believe we were fighting ontop of an empire base the whole time."

"I know. It is no wonder why there were always so many of them. i wonder how they dug the paths so fast... and if there are any more" She said thinking out loud.

"If there are, they're probably undermaned. Empire likes to keep it's main force on the land they already control." Shaun put his arm around Ava's shoulder. "For a second today, I thought I'd lost you."

Ava laid down next to him. "Why did you think that Shaun?" Ava asked while remembering those few seconds. It seemed to last much longer, but no. She remembered explosions, screams, and a sword coming at her. Then Shaun pulling her away.

"Seeing you fall into that hole with the enemy mech, then being engulfed in flames from the explosion. For a plit second my heart skipped a beat. I can't stand seeing a member of my squad go down."

"I barely remembered what happened.." Ava said honestly. She shook her head slowly closing her eyes. "That is war though.."

Shaun leaned over to Ava. "Let's not talk about that now. Right now, let's focus on us."

"Alright" Ava said leaning over to kiss his cheek.

"I love you Ava. Do you love me?" Shaun said, leaning in closer to Ava.

"I do Shaun. I love you" She said to him in a whisper. She watched him lean closer, until their faces were inches apart.

"I know." Shaun kissed Ava, feeling happiness admist the horror of war.

She kissed him back. Holding it out for awhile before pulling away. The quiet hums of music played in the background. "Shaun.. You seem interested in me so suddenly. When I have been flirting with you for years. Why now?" Ava asked him breaking the silence.
