When Kay had released her magic energy, it awoke a demon several miles away.... The demon could sense the human presence in the air and decided to leave its safe haven to investigate. This demon thought it was heading towards an easy meal.....

He leaned against the door frame. Those arms crossed across that chest of his, and those red and purple gossamer wings twitched occasionally behind him, but for the most part he was still, those violet orbs intense. Watching carefully and thoughtfully.

Ceri nodded in agreement though a little worried about something she couldn’t name… “Yeah… but you sound like you need a rest, In you go….” she said gently giving Kay a smack on the ass to hurry her with a teasing wink. With that she put her hands in her pockets, staring at the ground and frowning a little. “I need to check on the potion anyway….” she muttered as much to herself as anyone else.

She walked slowly inside, looking at the stove a moment. The potion was already complete… while good news it also worried her… that meant that Kay was putting out more energy then she had expected. Chewing her lip in thought the sarcastic witch was briefly serious as she began to bottle the potion in many little vials so they each could have a few. She had to be careful not to let the liquid touch her, however, as the potion would work as well on her as her mother…..

He watched, they seemed to be coming inside now. Kiryn disappeared from the doorway, returning to the room with all the cushions in it and making himself comfortable on a few. Lounging comfortably with his wings positioned so they weren't awkward or painfully trapped beneath him.

Kay stood in the yard a few minutes longer. She was pretty tired from the effort of using her new magic and really wanted to go inside and rest. But there was a nagging feeling at the back of her mind, a feeling that said something was not quite right. She finally shrugged it off and went into the house. She watched Ceri bottling the potion in the kitchen as she picked out something to eat. She finally selected a pretty pink fruit that she hadnt tried yet and walked into the living room where Kiryn was sitting. She didnt see Lyre anywhere, and figured he had probably gone to rest in a bedroom.
"So... I kind of noticed you watching... did I do pretty good, for my first try and all?"

The demon was very close to the house now. It could see the house through the trees and was trying to figure out where the human was. It tasted and smelled the air with its tounge. The clearing was full of human smell, and so was the house. Finding a tasty meal would be hard with all the smells distracting it.

Kiryn had pulled his long braided rope of red hair over a shoulder and most of it's length pooled into his lap, those eyes of his had been down, just staring at the hair in his lap when Kay entered the room. He looked up at her, his wings turning to a darker shade of red and he quickly dropped his eyes again. It seemed he couldn't get what had happened earlier fully out of his thoughts. "I don't really know how to gauge such abilities..but..from what I saw..I think you did very well." He cleared his throat softly..a shiver ran down his spine, an ominous feeling but he didn't know why or where it came from. Maybe paranoid delusions? Doubtful but still..those wings twitched lightly.

Kay noticed his wings changing color again... she tried not to smile, but Ceri had made her blush often enough, it was nice to see someone else doing it for a change. Kay also had a pretty good idea why Kiryn was blushing.
"Hey about earlier... Sorry I acted so rashly... I dont normally... um, well that is to say, I normally do dumb stuff... But not with out clothing... yeah. Sorry...." Kay trailed off, not really having anything else to say on the matter. She also felt that feeling again... there was something seriously wrong, but she could not quite place her finger on it. She did hope however, that Ceri had finished bottling the potions. She also munched on the fruit, knowing she needed to get some energy back before trying to use magic again.

His eyes didn't meet her's nor did he look at her face. He kept them fixated on his lap. "Clothing..is important...." His wings twitched and he shifted a bit uncomfortably. ".....You...shouldn't be so eager to disrobe in front of people..no matter how upset you are.." He frowned slightly. Clearly he had no idea what to say and wished to deviate from this conversation. He cleared his throat softly. "..Lovely weather, isn't it?"

Kisha didn't move from her vantage point atop the tall tree. She watched as the demon licked the air, the odor coming from its breath worse then the smell of the demon itself. Even though she could fight well enough, she really hoped that the demon didn't look up. Her long teal-purple hair was dead giveaway in a forest. And she wanted to help on her timing, of her choosing. Plus, she really doubted she would be needed in a fight considering what she had seen of those in the yard. She frowned, wondering why she even bothered to be here. Then she remembered that she got lost. Kisha sighs silently. She was a mess in this place.

Lyre frowned after the last of the group had wandered back inside, something wasn't...right. He pushed his windows open and hopped lightly onto the window sill, balancing on the edge, only empty space hung below him. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the horizon, the trees were dense around here...he couldn't...there. He swore under his breath and fell backwards, back into his room, kicking the windows shut as he quickly flipped to face the door. He practically flew down the stairs and stopped in the doorway of the kitchen, "Something...demonic is out there." He stated, jerking his head in the direction of the window. He pushed all thoughts of weariness out of his mind, now was not the time to be worried about getting some rest, they'd all die if something wasn't done soon.

Kisha smelt him before she saw Lyre in midair outside one of the upper windows. She wrinkled her nose at the hint of elf and sea. She frowned but remained motionless except for that. At least somebody noticed, she thought. She waited patiently, weapons already in hand.

Kay had getting ready to mumble something about the weather when Lyre had rushed into the room. Demonic? Oh.... so that's whats been bothering me.... "I hate to say this.... but I think its been out there for a while just watching.... Something didnt feel right inside my head.... I just didn't know what...." But I should have.... I failed..... I hope it isnt the panther again... Im not ready. "It hasnt tried to attack yet.... what should we do?" Kay looked to Kiryn for the answer... He was the real warrior here, not her... She still didnt really know how to use the Blade, all she could do was tap into its magic....

Kiryn had looked up sharply at Lyre, he was on his own feet in a matter of seconds. His hand on the hilt of his sword. He looked to Kay, thinking. Thinking fast. One could almost see the gears that turned this way and that. "I'll distract it, damage it as much as I can. If at all possible you should try to strike it with your magic or pierce it's heart with your holy blade." Those wings of his twitched, but with excitement. Battle always made his blood boil just a little, boil with excitement though he loathed the very idea that someone could get hurt, well. Someone other than himself or the thing they were about to go fight.

Day light faded outside, and Willow watched as the sun was extinguished behind the horizon, leaving only a golden dusting along the tree line. She listened as her family fell asleep, knowing in her heart that it would be the last time. Sure, she would miss them but it was time for her to leave. She had been here long enough, and facing her 19th birthday in October only fed her desire to flee. As the stirring in the house finally fell to silence, she slipped out the back door and into the night. She had left a note on her pillow, of all the things she wishes she had said but there was nothing there for her anymore. For a while, she stuck to her plan and picked her path through the woods with precision.
She had been planning her leave for months, but something she had counted on, something that wasn't here tonight, was the moon. It was supposed to be a full moon but clouds had slipped into the sky and the forest became dark. Soon, she was hopelessly lost and with the sun still far from rising, she decided to continue on. It was hours before she saw any sign of hope, a light off in the distance. As she neared it, the glow flickered and died. Something rustled nearby and Willow fought the urge to scream. She had walked into a trap, and some invisible barrier kept her locked in place. She gave in to her fear and yelled into the darkness, figuring either the person that had laid the trap could come find her, or if she was lucky, help would come to her aid.

(Willow is 18 years old, with a slim build. She has flat black hair to the middle of her back, which she usually keeps pulled up. Her clothes are normal, and a little on the darker side. Her temperament is unusually calm, except for the one trait that caused her to leave home. I’ll slip that in later on.)

[[I am really in awe at how focused and how dedicated the roleplayer's in this thread are. It's something I haven't seen since '04 when I had my own group of friends that got together regularly. I would really like to join you guys, just as soon as I read back a few pages and get a handle on what's going on. I have an idea for a character, and where I'd like to throw her in, so I'll be doing that as soon as I get it written up.]]

((mm...welcome to the thread then ^^, I guess you'll fit in somewhere XD))

Lyre frowned, "You aren't going out and distracting it yourself." He turned his gaze to Ceri and Kay, "Seeing as the girls are the only ones who seem to be able to kill this thing I'll tag along with you. It's better to work in pairs." he suggested. Or rather prompted, either way he wasn't about to let Kiryn go and try to be a distraction all on his own lonesome slef...ugh he was losing his train of thought again. He waited as patiently as he could for the other male or one of the female's to say something.

"oh no.." Myra mumbled feeling the air around her slender body beginning to grow hotter, until finally a strand of hair burst into flames. She began to tremble uncontrollably while looking over at the others in terror "you have to get out of here!" she spoke frantically, but, it was too late. She was coming, it was written.

Kaelos, an ancient demon of old approached the small group, with narrowing eyes she laughed "Ah, tis Kiryn" she cackled, fangs prominent behind her black painted lips. She wrinkled the bridge of her nose to accentuate her white-less eyes, she then looked over at Myra, and, lifted the poor girl off the ground by her neck, hungry eyes probing her body "a shapeshifter.." she hissed "which means, sweet blood" she grinned, Myra screamed and squirmed, knowing better than to beg for her life.. Kaelos was infamous for not sparing anyone, let alone, showing them mercy.

For a second, Willow felt the wall around her waiver. What was going on? The temperature rose around her for a moment until it finally cooled again and faintly in the distance she could hear voices. They sounded panicked, like something terrible was happening. What have I gotten myself into? With her hands pressed against the invisible wall, she focused until it waivered again. Was it possible that her energy could extend to the things around her, too? She tried what she had always thought of as 'pressing' with her mind on that focused spot and without much warning, she collapsed to the ground, the barrier broken. Willow scrambled to her feet, unhurt for the most part and fled from the spot.

Against all better judgment, she started to run towards the voices. Her hope was with the best of them, as she grabbed onto saplings for balance, jumping high over what little obstacles she could see. It was her inner drive that forced her towards the yelling, part of her saying that someone needed help, and needed it now. As she dodged through the woods, she thought about the light that she had seen right before she was trapped. There was something odd about the split second before she hit the barrier, and finally it came to her. It had been almost like stepping through a door. In her panic, she had blocked it out. Now that she thought about it, she looked up and saw that the sky above was clear, not at all like the sky she had seen the last time there was a break in the canopy. She shook off the thought, and continued on a little slower now, wary of what was to come.

With a flick of her wrist, Kaelos tore a piece of Myra's flesh from her arm, watching the blood pour to the ground, with wide eyes she ran her tongue across the liquid, watching while her victim's pale white skin began to tarnish under such a beautiful sight. Slowly her tongue ran over the liquid, tasting the girl's life blood, she pulled back and nibbled upon the flesh she had torn free, lightly running a pointed fingernail over the exposed muscle, ripping the sinews "Please.." she begged, making the fatal mistake "are you begging me for your life?" she asked between savoring bites, Myra nodded "please.. just end this.. let me go and.. and i'll..." she paused, panic streaking through her fragile mind "there's nothing you can bribe me with to let you go, child." she spoke carefully, words slithering out from between clenched teeth.

Myra's head rolled up to the sky when Kaelos' sharp teeth sunk into her other arm, she winced, gaze fading when she felt her blood slowly draining from her body, however, quickly she snapped up and brought a weak foot up to the demoness' chest, the woman laughed and pulled back, teeth pulling muscle and flesh away from the bone, the shifter's mouth opened wide and a shrieking scream broke through the serenity of underhill's forests.. Birds fled from the area at the sound, animals raised on their haunches, fur bristling in the light breeze, nothing was fine within the forest. Not with such an attack threatening their society.

As Willow neared the voices, it sounded like the panic was growing. Not even two hundred feet away she could see vaguely what was happening. A blood curdling scream washed over the woods and on instinct Willow fell to the ground and covered her head. She began to cry, frightened by what was going on. She didn't know what kind of world she had stumbled into, but she wanted out of it right this second. As much as her body told her to flee, she was rooted to the ground. To either direction she could see small animals running from the sound of the scream, eyes wide in terror. Willow's hands shook, and she dug her fingers into the soft under growth, terrified of being discovered. She hadn't thought to bring any kind of weapon with her, and she wasn't any sort of fighter. She could barely run a mile without getting out of breath, so even that was out of the question. A hundred things flew through her mind, and slowly she started to shift into a better view of the voices. As everything came into focus, her stomach turned over and she dry heaved. Someone or something was ripping apart what looked like a girl. The situation already looked completely out of hand, so Willow backed herself into the hollowed space between some tree's roots and tried to become as invisible as possible.

((I should be going to. I know this sounds out of the blue, but I just got about a billion messages from everyone I know. my boyfriend was on his way to see a friend a few hours away and got caught in a snow storm. They got into a bad accident and he had to go to the hospital. My mind is still mush from trying to process everything at once. I had to call my manager to see if someone else could work for me in the morning, because I was supposed to go in at 4am, and that sure as hell isn't going to happen.))

Kay thought Kiryn's distraction idea sounded very good, and she was relieved to know that Lyre would be helping him, although she was worried about lyre's condition... She knew she would have to work fast in order to make sure no one got hurt...
Suddenly Myra, the little kitty that she had even forgotten was still sleeping in the house, was a girl again, and was running out to fight the demon, and the demon was calling for Kiryn. Something in Kay's brain flipped. The Blade's voice sounded strong in her mind, and told her how to kill the demon.

Kay looked deep inside herself for that magic feeling, and she found it. She pulled it up through every part of her body, transforming yet again. It was much easier this time though. She didnt even have to guide it. She heard Myra from the yard, whimpering and screaming. She could feel the demon gaining strength from the girls blood.

She also knew that she needed more strength herself. She reached deeper into that new part of herself. The weilders of the Blade from the past also lent her their strength, with words of encouragement, and advice. She knew she could do this, she knew she was not alone. Her friends would help. Energy shot through Kays body, More than she had ever felt. Her wings were no longer small and cute, they were as large as Kiryns and fully functional. Her armour had also grown to cover most of her legs and arms, her dagger was almost 2 feet long, and was light and sharp. The Blade knew what Kay needed, and it had given it too her.

"I dont think we have time for distractions," she said as she heard Myra screaming again. She also knew the demon had sensed her increased energy. It was changing form...... Kay walked out of the house, and into the sunlight.

The Demon, sensing Kay's energy, dropped its human-esque disguise, and grew into its full demonic form. It was a scorpion, with a barbed tail, standing 10 feet tall and just as long. Its body was like that of the scorpion, but its torso and head were that of a woman. It eyed Kay hungrily and tossed Myra's abused body aside. Kay was glad, she didnt want to see the poor girl hurt. She had a feeling her turn was next. She gave her wings a testing twitch, and she knew that she could fly with them. She walked slowly towards the scorpion, and it lunged at her with its huged barbed tail. She barely was able to dodge it. That just means I have to be faster. The tail did smash down into Lyre's roof though, making a nice hole above one of the bedrooms. Even if I am bait out here, my friends arent safe.... I need to work faster. Kay just hoped she could get an openning shot at the demon, before it did too much more damage.

((Ok... that was the longest post of my entire life ^_^))

Kiryn had nodded to Lyre. Though, before he could say anything, the shapeshifting cat had shifted, ran out the door..and he heard his name being called. How foul it sounded coming from the lips and breath of a demon. It made him shiver and shudder. He frowned a bit, watching Kay as she seemed to become stronger..That was good. Then she had gone out the door.

His wings twitched, translucent purple and red. Those violet eyes of his narrowed and his hand was closed tightly around his sword hilt. When the tail hit the roof over one of the bedrooms, Kiryn reacted, racing out the door. Those wings flapping lift him above the ground as he flew towards the demon, that sword being drawn from it's sheath and raised in an arc, to slice into the demon's humanoid torso as his wings brought him up and even with it. He didn't try for the head, there was too much risk. But maybe he could still occupy the demon long enough for Kay to kill it. Hopefully. If they could kill it. It was a very big demon.
