It had two hearts. Fine. He would forcibly rip it's other heart out himself if it came to that..and oh gods how he so wanted to do that. His eyes were open, the violet orbs fierce and ablaze with thoughts of vengeance. The fingers of his right hand twitched and for a moment he looked confused again, looking down and around himself.

"My sword. I must have my sword at once!" The others were tired. Especially Kay. She had fought so hard, she was exhausted they needed to rest, and Lyre, he looked at the elf for a moment then slowly, wincing with the effort and frowning. Kiryn began to stand, though he kept his back pressed against the trunk of that small tree. "We'll hunt it, now, while it's weak and hurting....and if I can't have it's second heart then I will take it's eyes." As angry as he was, his voice couldn't hold that anger, it sounded more tired and pained than angry. His legs couldn't hold him either once he was up. Those knees buckled and he dropped back down. Hissing in anger and pain at appearing so weak.

He was a warrior. One of the strongest. Such an injury should not keep him down..but then...it really was a bad injury wasn't it? On the ground again a sigh left him and he leaned against that tree. Turning his head from the others. There were tears in Kiryn's eyes. He closed them tightly, falling silent. His wings were gone.

What was a fairy without it's wings?

Kisha scowled when they ignored what she said but listened and understood what they were saying. She rushed over to Kiryn when he fell, her hands already glowing. She placed them on his back and shoulder, her teal eyes the only thing showing anger. The magic soothed the pain but that was all she could do. Her eyes flashed around the group. "I don't care how powerful any of you are. You will NOT be hunting the demon. However, Kay is right. It might come back. We need to move. I can thin out my magic, to where some of you can walk but we cant go fast. Your all hurt and I don't want any of you to be worse." She looked at Lyre. "Do you know of a place near here where we can hole up for a few hours?" She hated talking to them like this but to her, whats worse, are people being hurt.

Ceri frowned, so little time left? She wished he’d stop being so damn cryptic… “Lyre… just tell us already….all the details. Might as well get it out all at once as you said…” A wounded and rather annoyed Ceri responded. She glared at him a moment but then heard Kiryn and Kisha, turning to look at the exchange and half argument. This was just lovely…

“Kiry she’s right dear…..though as far as a place goes… My home was burned down decades ago sooo.. I’m not much help.” She said in a sarcastic but cheerful way, wondering how Kiryn would react to her shortening his name though not caring to much. Yes his wings were hurt but she could see his fury…. And she’d rather have a Kiryn mad at her then a dead kiryn on her hands….

Kiryn frowned, looking to Kisha, fury and sadness in his eyes all at once. His heart beat the rhythm of vengeance. She was right though, and he knew it. He was also grateful she too was attempting to ease his pain. Slowly he reached up and took one of her hands. "Save your magic..The pain is bearable, there is no need for you to waste anymore on me." Then he had released her hand, and he did not try to stand again...Not yet at least.

Those violet orbs were shinning, however. As if he wanted to cry but he was a warrior, he would not shed tears. His wings had already shed enough of their own..the blood that had flowed through them. He looked at Ceri. "I'm glad your mostly alright..and Lyre too.." But Lyre seemed to be hiding something, something that Kay already knew and Ceri hinted at. The did need a place to go though. He frowned. "My home is in the city. Close to the Queen. However, I wouldn't bring any of you there. The demon might hunt us..and the city would be endangered.." He rolled his shoulders and grunted a bit. Gods how he already missed those wings. Light as they were, they had still weighed a bit..and he felt so..unusually light without them and as if he were missing something.

He lifted a hand. Placing it over his heart. Gods how he ached for those wings already. Those violet eyes had slid closed and he turned his head away from them again so they could not see his face.

Kisha sighed, releasing her hands away from Kiryn. She looked around at all of them, her eyes swirling greens and blues, not settling on a color, seeming like a sea of their own. She listened and she watched Kiryn turn his face away. She hated sadness. It was a pain that was hard to bear and could not be healed away. I won't think of home, she thought. She shook her head slightly to remove the thoughts, then stood. "Alright. Who still cannot stand and move at least a little on their own legs? I'll get to that while we figure out where to go. We should move and soon. Maybe we should just start going in the opposite direction of the demon." She brushed away a strand of her odd hair out of her face and over her ear.

Kay had been kneeling patiently on the ground while everyone else had made plans. She had a feeling she knew what must be done though. She slowly got to her feet, dizziness assailing her, but she stopped long enough to get her barings. She moved over where Kiryn's sword lay in the grass. It had blood and gore on it from the scorpion. She wiped it clean the best she could and carried it back over to him, laying it down beside his hand. Without a word, she turned and walked towards the house. She carefully climbed back into it and watched her footing as she moved. She tripped against some ruble lying in the floor and fell against a wall. The house creeked dangerously as she righted herself again. She moved into the kitchen and dumped the bags that Lyre had brought back from the human world. It felt like that had been forever ago. She began to stuff the bags with various forms of breads and fruits from Lyre's own food stores. She also came accross a container with what looked like cookies. Well that might be a nice pick me up late at night. She stuffed them into the bags too. Then she went into Lyre's bathroom and grabbed a basket from a little niche high in the wall. It was with the contents of that basket Lyre had healed her. She dumped them all carefully into another bag. She then went to the first beadroom and tried to push the door open. It was partially blocked but she got through. She pulled a few light sheets off the bed there and wrapped all the bags of food and medical supplies up in them. When she moved back to the door though, a whole section of ceiling collapsed. Kay decided to try the window instead.

When that sword was brought to him, he opened his eyes and looked at Kay. The fingers of that hand curling around that familiar hilt. The sword was not just a sword. Not just a tool to fight with, it was a tool to preserve life. A sword to protect..and his friend. However, if it had been lost, he would have missed it much less than he missed his wings. He was silent though. Watching Kay.

Violet orbs widened when that human entered the crumbling house. The point of his sword was plunged into the ground and using it he stood. Inhaling deeply he took a few steps, using his sword like a crutch. He managed to take a few steps before falling to his knees...Not from pain...but..from being off balance. The tattered remains of his gossamer wings twitched in agitation, causing him to wince. "Damnit..How do you people stay balanced..without...without..." His voice trailed off a bit as he mumbled the last word. "..wings..?" Pushing himself up again on that sword. Kay shouldn't be in that house. The whole thing could cave in on her. He was determined to protect her from that...if..he could even make it there. His body trembled with frustration.

Useless...he was utterly useless.

Lyre's eyes darted towards Ceri but he decided answering Kisha was more important. "If we can make it, I know of some people that would help us. They live beyond those trees." He said, waving his hand to the left side of the clearing, where the trees were just a little bit thinner than to the right side. Then he returned his attention to Ceri, "Your mother...is a very...monstrous person. As you already knew. After you left..." Lyre closed his eyes and leaned back, falling onto his back in the grass, "After you left, I'm not sure how but she got away while the others were captured. She came for me then, remembering how I had hung around you before. She caught me and held me prisoner for so long, it's a wonder I survived...what happened then..." Lyre paused and shuddered at the memories, "I can't tell you how bad it was...all I know is one day she just disappeared and then I managed to escape. I was scarred mentally and physically, but I never realized how bad it was. The potions and spells she placed/used on me, they didn't have much affect before and then suddenly they all started to work together. I'd be in agony at one moment and then completely crazed the next. After some time they started to wear off. All except one. It's been eating away at my sanity, slowly. It makes me forget things sometimes." He paused again and reopened his eyes, they glistened as he stared unblinkingly at the sky, "I'm almost at my limit love. I've been cheating time by getting help from the mermaids. They were sympathetic to my cause, but now, even their help isn't enough anymore."

"Or tails..." She murmured under her breath. She walked over to Kiryn and put an arm around his waist, hefting him up. "Come on. I don't like her in there any more then you do. I'll help you until you feel more solid on your feet alone." With that, she started walking with him, her pace slightly faster then normal, knowing that he would be able to keep up with it for now. She then threw back at Lyre, having overheard, her eyes a swirling sea. "Maybe having a mermaid actually on hand will help for a while longer, Lyre." Then she turned back to the task of getting to before something happens.

Kay began pushing the window open. She could only get it half way because the frame had been badly warped. She shoved the sheets full of stuff out as best she could, but it got jammed in the window. The more force she put on it, the more the house seemed to fall down around her ears. The walls were showing spider cracks from strain all along the edges. She could hear the houses support beams cracking. A large section of roofing fell opposite from where she stood, covering her in dust. She kept pushing though, she had accomplished too much to quit now. More sections of the house had begun to give way. She knew her time in there was almost up if she were to make it out. Finally she backed up as far as she could to the center of the room. She ran at the window full force throwing all her weight againt the bag and window. The frame shattered. The bag popped out and went flying. So did Kay. She landed a few feet from the bag. She grabbed it and looked around to figure out where she was in relation to her friends. The house groaned and cracked. She went for the tree line as quickly as she could, and not a moment too soon. The house collapsed.
She stood there by the trees and watched. When all was quiet she yelled as loud as she could, "I'm fine! I got out!" not caring what demon or beast might hear. She just wanted her friends to know she was alright.
She started to laugh a bit manically. She had made it out, and not too soon either. She just laughed until she cried because she knew she had finally done something totally right.

He had looked over his shoulder, looking to Lyre. Frowning a bit. He had no idea of how to help the elf. Then that girl was beside him, he hadn't even realize she was approaching him. He blinked and stared at her for a moment before looking away. "...Thank you.." He mumbled to her as put that arm around his waist..his own arm going over her shoulder. When she began to move, he moved mostly he just kept ahold of her to help him keep his balance. Though still he really didn't see how people could move around without wings. They balanced everything out. They neared the house and he had to bite his bottom lip to keep from yelling out for Kay.

The house seemed to be crumbling even more. Then it happened. It collapsed and Kiryn nearly fainted. The color, what bit of color was left to his skin, faded. His heart skipping quite a few beats. Before he could really shout or scream or say anything he heard her voice. She was alright. She had gotten out. He let his arm slip from Kisha and fell to the ground on his bottom. Sighing deeply. "Humans..are such silly creatures." He mumbled softly.

Ceri knew her mother… Knew her well. Well enough that it didn’t surprise her, though for a moment she looked ready to kill and being it was all Ceri it was worse then the demon could ever make her look… Glancing away she looked to the ground, trying her best to restrain her anger. Her mother…just because he had not been scared off….but at the same time …. There was light at the end of the tunnel.

“If she made the potion… then the potion we made earlier will stop it temporarily…. But to stop it completely… I’m not sure how… but I know it’ll require she be dead…” Ceri finally nearly hissed, still staring at the ground when she heard the collapsing house. Hissing slightly she looked up, biting her lip and beginning to hobble over towards the home only to hear Kay. “Resourceful little thing…” She mused in a relieved tone, her hands shaking a moment. In all honesty she’d been certain Kay was dead…but now…now it seemed it was okay. Goddess bless small miracles….

Kisha watched in horror as the house collapse and tried to catch Kiryn when he fell but she didn't make it. She was relieved Kay made it out of the house. She looked at Kiryn, her eyes pale green and bent to pick him up again. "All lands like you are silly people, not just humans." She smiled slightly, her eyes returning to swirls. "Come on, fairy. Your not done yet. We gotta make sure she actually is okay. Lets go."

He blinked. Had she just called him a land? He looked at her..and something clicked into place. From something she had said or mumbled earlier. Was she..could she be..."A mermaid?" He blinked at her again. Those violet orbs only slightly uncertain, then it faded and was replaced by determination. He pushed his sword into the ground and used it to stand, wobbling a bit..his other hand reaching out for Kisha's arm to steady himself.

A question flitted through his mind...Was a fairy without his wings still a fairy? Kiryn felt rather useless as both a warrior and a fairy.

Kay finally stopped laughing long enough to gather up the stuff that had spilled fromt he bags and sheets. She bundled it all up and took off around the side of the house to find her friends. The adrenaline rush she had gotten from the collapse of the house had made her feel much better, much stronger. She was skipping and leaping around the house when she saw Kisha and Kiryn up near the house, and Ceri and Lyre a bit farther back. She started shouting as she approached them all. "Look what I did, Look what I got." She was so excited about all she had in the sheet bundle "I got food and medicine stuff, and sheets and ----" She tripped on some wall that had been laying on the ground and went sprawling into the dirt. It didnt ruin her good mood though. She pushed up from the ground almost immediately and yelled with total jubilation "COOKIES!!!!"

Kisha chuckled soflty. She said just as quiet. "Try to keep that between us for now. Maybe the others will figure it out as well if I continue making slight comments. Its not exactly a fact I like others to know but for some reason..." Her eyes were a dark blue. "I trust you. All of you. And if it makes you feel any better, losing my tail...It was hard to bare." She smiled sadly and wiped the emotion and though away. "Come. Theres more important things to concern ourselves with." She let him balance himself and start walking by himself, staying right next to him just in case he needed a hand.
Then Kay appeared and she couldn't help but laugh. "Cookies huh?" She grinned, her eyes pale green again.

((yea, press the report button ^^))

Lyre sat up then and glanced over to Kay, smiling faintly, then his eyes flickered over to Ceri, "if it comes to that...won't you need the potion for more pressing matters?" He got up slowly and wandered over to the tree Kiryn had previously been leaning against. He placed a hand on its rough bark, "A last resort I suppose..."

Kiryn had nodded to her a bit, and he seemed balanced pretty well. When he was just standing there. Leaning on his sword, but he couldn't use it as a crutch all the time, it was bad for the blade. He straightened a bit and sheathed the weapon. He took a step and didn't fall. That was a good start..the tattered remains of his wings twitching slightly..he took another step and wobbled a bit. His eyes were on the ground, almost as if he weren't sure how to place his feet. Two more steps were made easily, then he looked up at Kay, took a step and had to grab Kisha to steady himself. The remains of his wings turned a darker shade of red. He felt like a child..and it was embarrassing.

Kiryn stood there. Holding Kisha's arm with both his hands. Not wanting to move anymore. It was hard..walking like that..his center of gravity completely disheveled and gods know where. "Why's it so difficult?" He murmured mostly to himself.

"Because you are used to having wings on your back," Kay walked over to him, "This might hurt, but it will help a bit." She tied the sheet so that it would work like a satchel and laid it across Kiryn's shoulders, the heaviest part of the pack resting on his back between his tattered wings. "Try walking now." Kay really hoped this worked.
