My university is Hogwarts but we decided none of us would be cool enough to be ghosts and I'd be one of the random students who gets killed off by evil thing of the year.

But Kat! You can't be killed by evil-of-the-year. I won't allow it.

The other option was being one of the normal boring students who just goes through getting average grades and doesn't get a book written about them.

Talking up to your parents is hard. I know, I still don't have the guts to tell them EVERYTHING. But they should respect your choice, even if it's a 'mistake' in the end.

Maybe you need to put in a way that it sounds WAY better than staying? ....I'm not very good at this, apparently. That's obviosuly what you're trying to do.

When it comes down to it, even if it is a mistake, it's my life and it's my mistake to make
I'm thinking take a year or two out, re-apply in a little while (as i've missed the application deadline for next academic year) if I've found something i want to pursue.
if not, get me head down and work at a job.

I don't know how to bring it up to my dad, 'cos my mum's fine with it, but it's dad. and I really don't want to go into that again right now...

Your parents might think it's in your best interests to continue academically but they should also be able to accept your happiness and well being should come first.
