How were the cutesy sheepies today, Cica darling? ;)

I'm drooling over my college. EVERY DAY I find something new out about it, I swear!
I just found out they have these Living and Learning Communities... I know a good portion of colleges have them, but... Honestly, I'm just so in love!

The two LLCs I'm looking are "Voices of Justice" and "Realizing Dreams". Voices of Justice is more politically-oriented, it seems, whereas Realizing Dreams is more ideal in that it's about accepting all races, genders/gender identities, etc., etc. ... While I love politics, political debates/tension make my blood boil, so I figure being in a house of 20-30 other people who are political advocates would just... ruin my mojo.

Oh, right. I guess I forgot to mention that I LIVE with the people in the LLC of my choice.

My "academic performance" has made me eligible for these LLCs, which are first-year experiences from what I can tell. Not entirely sure if they continue on throughout all four years. I think they don't.

...Did I mention I have an 80 GPA? My SAT scores are the only part of the "academic performance" that they're seeing as making me eligible. I'm getting over $25,000 free and clear annually (with room for increases in $ each year) simply for my SAT scores and killer essay, while I failed Algebra I freshman year and Brit Lit Honors sophomore year.

I made up those classes in summer school, mind you, but... that doesn't say much.

Wow, go Kat! ^_^

Well, Facade, this morning the sheepies were great. I haven't been out to see them yet this evening because my dad feels he's well enough to go hauling hay around again. Which is premature, but I feel like arguing will only make it worse. (As in, he'll get more stubborn about it.) So... Not sure how I feel about that.

The LLC thing sounds so cool, by the way. :) I'm used to that standing for "Limited Liability Company," so it's funny to see. But... You'll have fun in college. :)

@Cica: LOL! I thought the same thing when I first saw "LLC"...
Thankfully they're not that keen on micromanaging us. :gonk:

And how's your dad doing, Cica? :( What's up with him?

...I better have fun in college. :gonk:
My cousin is going to Ithaca in upstate New York, so I plan on visiting her and embarrassing the hell out of her on occasion.

While we're not particularly close anymore, we used to be when we were little. We're born precisely a month apart (I'm August 29th, she's September 29th), so we've always had some sort of connection.

----------

@Kat: LLC is a Living and Learning Community.
I type too much, sorry. :gonk:

Facade, that's probably the most common use of the abbreviation. Or one of the most common. I don't feel like looking it up. XD Oh, my dad had surgery, um... A week and a half ago or so? And he was supposed to not do any heavy lifting (i.e., over 15 pounds) for a month. So I'd been doing extra chores. But Mom's back to work this week, so my dad is home alone, with nobody to stop him from doing whatever. ('Course, he's stubborn, so he probably would have argued with Mom and then gone and done chores anyway...)

But he seems fine. I just don't want him to overdo it and hurt himself. *sigh* Guys. Gotta be macho.

That'll be fun to see your cousin, though! It's fun when you have cousins close to your own age. :)

Wow, awesome Kat!

I'm close to her, in inexplicable ways.
She lives upstate now, and is mostly out of my life.
But we keep in touch via Facebook and having meaningful conversations on occasion. :)

What kind of surgery did your dad have, Cica? If you don't mind me asking?
And yay! I taught you well! You can be macho while I sit in the shade drinking my girly drinks.

Facade: Oh. Um, he had to have a gland removed. They found some cancerous cells during what I assume was a routine exam. It hasn't spread, and he doesn't need chemo (thank goodness). The surgery was robotic, just an overnight stay in the hospital, but he still needs R&R. But he's stubborn and gets impatient.

Ooh! I'm glad to hear it wasn't cancerous, Cica!
And robotic surgeries are so damn convenient! :)
Glad he's alright. Tell him to sit down and shut up!

My mom has some funky disease I'd rather not get in-depth about. She's on an odd variety of medication that includes Boniva, Prednisone (a type of steroid), Methotrexate (a "chemo pill," although she actually does stomach-injections of it now, since the pill made her nauseous; the stomach-injection helps her bypass all of the queasiness), and she's starting a Remicade (SP?) IV this upcoming weak for rheumatoid arthritis.

She's a mess, to say the very least. She's also epileptic on top of it all. The Boniva is mainly to counteract the effects the steroids have on her bone density; the Methotrexate is primarily to help clear out the growth on her brain, and also to wean her off slowly on the steroids; the Remicade will also further help wean her off the steroids, as well as reduce her chronic arthritic pain. She's an RN (Registered Nurse) and a single mother, and is a walking disease herself. I wonder how she does it sometimes...

Sorry to get all personal and put my random blatherings in. I like to hear myself type sometimes, it seems.

It was cancerous Facade. Just slow-moving, and they caught it way early. (Early detection, as they say, is key.) But yeah, I'm glad he's alright, too. Now if they can get his fibro under control... (Answer: Probably not. Because it's fibro.)

Geez, your mother... That doesn't sound good. oO Illness in the family can be stressful for everyone. I hope she's holding up okay, considering, and that you are, too.

Damn, I misunderstood that. :gonk:
I'm glad it didn't spread!
This is what I get for distracting myself with a slew of other crap for no apparent reason.

And my mom is suspected of having Fibro too!
They can't make a positive assessment since she's so drugged up, and the Remicade will help with that to a degree anyway.

She's able to work forty-hour weeks to support us, so she's holding up well. She could use a break, of course, but she gets her breaks every now and again! Plus, she works primarily on the weekends (36-44 hour shifts Fri-Sat-Sun), so she's able to recuperate during the week. :D

I'm just glad she's capable of being so damn responsible. My father, well... He's been out of the picture for quite some time now, and the most child support she ever received was about $300/mo. for about six months, before it ended. And she's too busy/tired to bother pursuing his ass in the courts.

She owns a house by herself, pays more than required of her on the mortgage in hopes of paying it down sooner, meets all of the bills punctually, and has her own health crap to deal with. If I don't know what an independent, self-sufficient woman is, then I must be blind.

My mom's sisters are all equally independent. I hate to use the word "blessed," but I do truly feel blessed to have such independent women in my life, even if I am male. I identify more with women, and hardly see the gender difference between us to begin with. I'm comfortably male, of course, but that's a physical feeling; as far as my internal self goes, I'm female. In a not-so-"woman in a man's body" kind of way.

I make no sense. :gonk:

S'okay, Facade. XD I'm glad, too. (This is why insurance is a good thing. The ability to go to a doctor regularly, catch stuff early, and hopefully take care of it more easily, and with less physical and financial expense. Why do people not understand? :gonk:)

Your mom sounds amazing. oO And you make more sense than you think. You feel feminine in terms of behavior and such, but still male. That's how I understand it, anyway. :)

(Mehh, I dunno. Golden Age WW might not work after all. Maybe Kingdom Come WW?)

Wooders!
-pinches your buildings suggestively-

@Cica: I KNOW, RIGHT!? The damn healthcare in this place NEEDS the reform. :talk2hand: People so don't understand!
Of course, my mom's insurance is surprisingly rather poopy considering she's a nurse. :| She argued on the phone yesterday with an insurance lady that was trying to tell her that she'll need to pay $1,000 for her Remicade before she gets it. There's always going to be kinks in the system, of course, but something tells me crap like this will hopefully be a thing of the past, soon enough.

And you're spot on with that! ;) I guess women are just more inspirational and fascinating than men.
Men are good for one thing, and one thing only! :illgetu: ... Normally, anyway. :)

Woody: No, I probably won't for much longer, if at all. Not sure how I feel about that. My dad is stubborn and restless. oO

Facade: XD Nah, guys can be cool. I grew up really not understanding the elementary school cooties thing, y'know? But yeh. Health care. Won't get into an argument about it here, but... As long as people are misinterpreting language that isn't even in the law they just passed and coming up with microchip conspiracy theories... We have a long road ahead of us.

Hi Linn!
