Are we talking about the slippers from the 1939 feelm? :o
...Yeah, you can tell they're not quite so red in Return to Oz (...they used the original pair from 1939 in it!).

Pretty much, yeah, Beth. Shiny silver slippers!
Facade: Sort of. Silver in the original story, red in the film, a bit of both in Wicked.

Oh! Wait, what are we talking about?
I'm lost now! :gonk:
The shoes in Wicked are ruby! They were crafted from rubies...
Are you saying they shone silver, though?
'Cause they also shone blue, for that matter! :P

We're talking about how the famous ruby slippers aren't always ruby, depending on the version of the story.

Oh. Yeah, they were silver in the books!
...Which reminds me!
The plan is to read the Oz books this summer. I doubt I'll get all that far, but hey! It's a plan nevertheless!
(Baum's writings feel too kiddyish to keep my attention for all too long...)

I keep meaning to read them, too, Facade. But I keep getting distracted by other things. :gonk: I'm kinda surprised you haven't, though.

I keep telling myself I will... But look where that's gotten me.

I have two volumes in anthology format, Facade. Not so much with the pictures, but the text is there. Yeah, they've been collecting dust for me, too.

apparently the chinese culture really has monster mother inlaws because the newly wed couple was required to live in the husbands parents house for a short time after marriage and the new wife was supposed to do house work for them all or something.
