that's a goblin I painted with watercolors..... he looks all goofy... so I like him XD

So step one would be drawing your line art on a clean layer. I myself do things a little differently but to stick purely with gimp this is the starting point.

Then it's a good idea to make a new layer and re-trace what you've drawn to end up with a cleaner line art. This is just good practice and looks less mess for colouring.

He's supposed to be Ugly, he is a goblin.... Not all fae creatures are beautiful, and the ones that are, are most likely beautiful only so they can lure you to your untimely death. hahaha


And YAH it is Soda.... Sneaky Saucy fooling everyone XD

So the art of colouring your digital art.

Make a new layer for your base/midtones, and place it under your clean line art. (You can hide or delete the rough line one) Then you just do a general marker style fill in the spaces till you have your drawing all filled in and decent looking.

At this point I focus on certain area's. Say the skin. I make a lay and have it above the colour layer but below the line art. you then do the low tones, and repeat this step for the high tones. You can do the low/high in what ever order you want.

Then you repeat this process till you've finished your colouring and you have a basic full coloured drawing..



You end up with many layers so its a good idea to Name them as you go.

no i didn't mean it like that! i mean the art is great! but the goblin it good he looks real but ya no goblins are ugly :(

that's why I like em!

I also always end up doing drawings with toadstools, faery rings, and moss and rocks and such... I love earthy, yet mystical stuff
