handling the trauma. The stuff I really wanted to do. Battle injuries and such. Going on medcap missions to go out and help the afghani people and give them some medical treatment in the smaller towns. Doing ari assault missions from a blackhawk and then jumping out to provide medical support for the infantry while they complete their mission. Mostly working out of an aid station they say but that's where all the injured get taken. it's like... running an ER, where I can do anything to save someone's life but I don't have all the cool supplies and neat environment as a hospital. I get like a little building with 3 rooms in it and some minimal supplies. When I'm out of there I'll be working out of an aid bag. Its a rush. You only have what you can carry with you and those aid bags can get so heavy! Especially with all teh IV fluids.

i don't even know what to say... you are amazing... it makes what i do for a living seem so menial... you are really a hero :D
i'm glad that you won't be fighting on the front lines or anything, but what you do is just as important, if not more... it's just so... brave...

:) My grandpa was an Army medical clerk in WWII. It is definitely a noble calling, and there's less worry for your friends back home, too, I should think.

Yeah. There's a chance that I'll be out there. Not supposed to fight of course but things happen. My sgt told me she had one of her old soldiers writing her, told her that they got hit by an IED and she had to take care of 3 patients while giving rounds to her gunner, while calling in for a medevac. That's pretty amazing. So you never knwo what will happen. I personally would like to be out there, I just feel like.. I wanna do all that I can for my guys and keep THEM safe when they get hit, while avoiding gettign hit myself  My landlord was actually a medic too, in Nam.. 3 tours. He's hard core. And your grandfather cica, wow.. he must have been really young. Back then it was a lot harder I think. But at least they didn't ahe to carry all the gear! I wonder if it's easier minus 50 lbs.. of course you don't get that protection. I think everyoen is important though, especially the people back hope. Support is the best thing to get ^^ My mom says that I'm her hero but I tell her how can that be when she is mine? lol. Well... I'm really tired. it's been a long day O_O hehe. I think I'm gonna be getting to bed soon :)

I'm not sure how old my grandpa was when he joined. Old enough, I guess. He didn't talk about it much. I think he didn't want to think about it much. But he came home safe, and may you do the same! Thank you. :)

Hahaa.. sorry if I talk too much. I really do like my job. I knwo there's a lot of people who don't know. I think I dont say the right things and if I took some time to really answer questions people would understand more but I am so beat. lol. I know what you mean about him not talking about it. I don't think I would either. That was really rough stuff back then. The mortality rate of patients was high.. really high. Same in Nam and Korea.. but we've gotten better. As long as they get help in time :S I'm rambling again! ok ok.. before I keep going on... Hope you guys have a good night when you do finally get to sleep :D Laterz!

No, it's okay. I like remembering my grandpa. He died in 2004, which also doesn't seem that long ago. My other grandpa died before I was born.
Dementia is tough. My maternal grandma had that, though we never knew what kind. She'd had screws loose for a long time, though. And now my paternal grandma worries that she's losing it, but everyone else knows she's not. My mom and I always end up reassuring her that age-related brain farts are normal.
Yankees? Like the baseball team? I have no idea. XD
Anyway, I should go take a shower. I'll be back, though!

Okay, I'm back. Hey Kat! (You have to introduce your pixie, speaking of pixies. ;) )
Yeah, the conversation got a little heavy there for a hangout called "Sprinkles," huh?
