<3 <3 Linn! Night night!
I love our chickens, we have 20 right now, at the edge of our woods we have a chicken coop, my dad's pet project. You should see all the cool wildlife they attract... We get foxies, hawks, etc, etc coming to investigate. Horray for fresh eggies!

Chupacabras!!! Lol I should keep my eyes pealed for one of them >.> <.<
Yes we do Cica, they have a really cute coop and a fenced in (totally fenced in, top and sides) run for them. We let them free range around the yard, but my parents went out one day and didn't put them in... yah, that wasn't a good idea....
We live in the woods, not the best place for chickens, but they are happy. The fox aren't so happy, they get teased.

That's good, Woody. So many critters see chickens as noms. Including us, but not when they're laying hens or pets! So many bad experiences with raccoons. And opossums, but mostly raccoons. Nasty beasts...

Not when they're snarling at you from the bottom of a feed barrel, they're not.

I've only seen them at Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. I think that's where it is. biggest cave system. in america I think.

Raccoons are adorable, except at close range! We don't get many in my area because we have coyote and bears..... We also have very few skunks, unlike my home town.
Kat: My friend was just studying bats at Mammoth Cave!! He was in Kentucky for 6 months or so. That's cool that you got to go there!

As long as the raccoons are in the woods where they're supposed to be, from a distance, I'm okay with them. But not in the barn, stealing food and killing chickens. But I will always maintain that they are nasty beasts. :)

That is really cool XD There has been that white nosed syndrome with a lot of bats, and it is spreading to New England in areas, I don't know about where I am, but my friend was telling me about places in Vermont where the bats are dying off. Sad.
I love raccoons from a distance. But agreed, they are narsty critters when cornered. I just can't get over the image of Meiko in Pocahontas. So cute!

Hey, I grew up on Ranger Rick, and my elementary school mascot was the raccoon. Cartoon animals... Well, they've never snarled at me. I figure they're a whole different kingdom. :)
Anyway, I need to get some sleep. :) G'night!

It's a fungal infection that is plaguing a lot of areas and certain species of bats, it grows on their bodies and faces, and eventually kills them... They really don't know if it is a parasite or what that is causing it...
Night Cica!!

Certain species are falling prey to it, but I think they are finding it in more bats now.... It's really random... I think they first found bats with it in upstate new york, now as far as like the plains states and stuff. But seriously, millions of bats have died because of it I believe.
:( bats are cute and helpful, granted I don't really want to be up close and personal with them, lol, but I love watching them eat bugs at dusk at my house, and at my friend's lake cottage every summer.

that's very horrible!! the fact that its spreading to lots of areas and types of bats makes it worse.
I've been close on another side of class, but I wouldn't want one in my hair. they're nice creatures though. well, I wouldn't want to meet a vampire bat.

Lol. Right? vampire bats like to nom on cows.
There was one that swooped into my classroom (it was a theater in my college, which was a huge old Hogwarts-y like estate) and my poor professor squealed and fell over, it was chaos. Haha, so funny to watch I guess.... Me and a few other people tried to get the bat out, but it just flew out of that room, and into the library and then upstairs to who knows where..... Good times.
*Speaking of bats, there are tons flying around the ppl in the show I am watching*

wow, that's awesome. we've had stuff like that with small birds getting into my high school. my friend caught one because the baby bird was hurt I think and she took it home with her.
what are you watching?
