But I just remembered I promised my daughter inlaw I'd make a scarf for my granddaughter.... I have to make up the pattern myself also.

She wants something that's a hat and scarf together...

what medium do you use, jean? knitting? crocheting? etc?

Lin, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to knit it or crochet it.

I'm most comfortable with crocheting, but knitting will make a softer one I think.

i should start knitting christmas gifts but i can only make scarves :P

I was kinda thinking that if I made 1 long scarf, fold it in half, and then sew about a head's worth of the side in the middle of the scarf, it would work...maybe.

the kid could just fold it in half.. that would offer double protection.. or they could use it to cover their nose and mouth if they have asthme like i do cold hair, specially the kind like in winter, makes it hard to breath or even painfull.

I know up north where they live, it gets really really cold. so you would have to cover your mouth to breathe...

Jean.. you can never make it too wide. Just have the whole scarf enfold her body.... It will be like a scene from A Christmas Story. XD Amazing....

And, I do NOT miss that "it hurts when i breath" its so cold feeling. Gah. My friends mom made me this lovely long scarf, and I used it as an all in one hat, mouth guard and scarf when I was at school. I miss that scarf. It had just enough warmth and body to be perfect, but it was a looser knit so it wasn't too overpowering.

Lesson of the day: It is a fine art, making and finding the perfect scarf.

big fluffy scarves are the best! i think I love scarves a lot more than I thought. now that i'm somewhere it gets cold, i wear them all the time. I have three with me.

I hate that feeling. when its really cold and me and my roommie run from the barracks, it hurts from breathing fast in the cold!

...I wish I knew how many scarves I have... And I like to switch them up a lot too. They are my favorite winter accessory, since I don't wear winter hats.... Scarves and gloves, that's pretty much it. I only wear hats on occasion, and I usually wrap my head with one of my scarves. <3 <3
Quick estimate, I'd say I have....20+..... and I brought 4 with me on my trip ;) and I almost bought another

I think I have 20+ scarves as well, and I got another for my birthday last week. I need to start working them into my outfits as it's finally cold enough outside to wear them... YAY! :D
