please don't base CSI on reality. because they're not. it's one of the most unrealistic crime dramas out there.

User a cinderblock. Hit them with it, knock them out and/or kill them, then tie 'em to it and drop it in a lake, river, basin, fjord, stream, pond, ocean, etc etc.

I think kitteh has the right idea. lake is bad though because the body with surface quicker.

But the fact about Potassium is true.
Too much potassium can kill you easily...and it's hard to detect in the body.
