If you get really bored, you can write me a sonnet!!! Makes sure it has end rhymes, and no soft rhymes. Soft rhymes are for chumps :illgetu: lol ;)

:D I like sonnets, so I've written a few. Nothing super fancy. Usually an english sonnet style with a a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g rhymed scheme..... But in my senior thesis class, I studied sonnet cycles and sequences, so I got into them a lot more.

I never really studied then. I don't know well how to write a sonnet.

If you wanna read some good sonnets, obviously Billy Shakes, Robert Frost, Seamus Heaney ( I think I have a book of his that is a complete sonnet cycle), and then there was a revival of sonnets with the Romantic poets.....so Keats, Byron, and all those guys

I've read stuff by Frost before. I think I read Byron too. I didn't have to read him for school, but I read it in my older bros textbook that he left on a desk. yes, I read my brother's textbook. but never read my own.

I love this Keats sonnet:

Quote:
The poetry of earth is never dead:
When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run
From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead;
That is the Grasshopper's--he takes the lead
In summer luxury,--he has never done
With his delights; for when tired out with fun
He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed.
The poetry of earth is ceasing never:
On a lone winter evening, when the frost
Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills
The Cricket's song, in warmth increasing ever,
And seems to one in drowsiness half lost,
The Grasshopper's among some grassy hills.
The opening line is just.... ah. So awesome.

I love Frost. He is a a New England standard, so I think schools go over him more here. And, I've had a book of his complete poems since I was a baby. My parents bought it for all of us kiddies, but I appropriated it since I actually read it/ loved it. I used to walk to his grave all the time (it was down the road from my first college in Vermont) for exercise.

I like Byron, but I am more of a Keats/ Wordsworth girl.

I think that nt having feet only works if you have wings or a wheelchair.
