something about sugary-sweet romances make me uncomfortable. If a guy were like that to me, I'd be wary. I can't bring myself to believe that even half of that isn't a lie.

never heard of either.

Both Jane Austen novel remakes. :D

Yah. I dunno. I think they can give off unreasonable expectations...But then again, I've had boyfriends/guys treat me super amazingly. Movie-tasticly, if you will.

I've never seen one of those movies all the way through. I liked the book Pride and Prejudice though.

but I would really hate that.
(but I also know I have a freak's definition of love)

A guy pushes you down and steals your candy.

*heart palpitations*

Another sends you flowers.

*toss them out*

;)

I wouldn't throw them out if it was chocolate, or bright wild flowers. >.> And someone who would dare steal candy from me!! *stabs in the eye with lollipop stick*
but yeah, something like that.

Hahaha. I'll remember that when you have a bowl of candy nearby. I like my eyes, thank you, as they are.

I had a guy who would buy EVERYTHING when we went out/had meals/travelled.....and it drove me crazy. I couldn't pay for gas, bubble gum....anything. I mean, it was really really sweet. But, I wasn't used to it, so I had to get over it when he pulled out his card and payed. Cause he wouldn't take no. If it make him feel nice, treating me.....well. Ok!

*giggles innocently* I'm a sucker for candy. it might actually be possible to buy my heart with good food.

sounds vaguely controlling. I would run from a relationship like that.

a romantic gesture according to me would be being 'made' to wear a dog collar with tags saying you belong to your lover. That image has been with me for a long time. It feels so nice.

Nah, it wasn't controlling. He just got pleasure from treating others, holding doors, etc. Even out with friends, he liked to pay >.<

That sounds cute.

Emma was a GREAT book.

Persuasion was OK...not her best I think.

I wouldn't mind somebody who wanted to buy everything...as long as that behavior didn't go over into other controlling things.

I would rather someone cook for me than buy me food.
*pokes at taquitos* I'm running out of food to eat.

I love Persuasion.

I think that people stop at Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice and don't give her other novels as much view/consideration time. Emma is great, Persuasion (captain Wentworth!!) and Mansfield Park....Northhanger Abbey is very clever.....if not a bit lighter than her others...But a gothic-y novel making fun of gothic novels. Nice.

I read the Mysteries of Udolpho because of that novel. Which, was super boring >.< But, I was the first person to check it out of my university library since the 1950s! That made me feel special. And sad.

I don't read much at all.
I have only read her book Pride and Prejudice because it was something I read in school. required reading. ^^'

I read too much sometimes. But, it's been a while since I've read any literature. I used to make a habit of getting out novels from the library that I should have under my belt, a lot of Dickens, Hardy, etc.

The last two books I read were purely for fun. One fantasy author I LOVE who just released a novel in the YA department...which she pulls off spectacularly....and the other was my mum's novel. I'm also proofing another one she is trying to get ready to publish...

sounds fun. I haven't even read fanfics in a while. I have a LOT of reading to do for school. There most be a forest worth of paper in my room. I have decided that I like Raymond Carver though.
The book I've been reading is called The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. I bought it on sale at kroger.

I have always wondered what she writes. I don't know if you've told me that, Woody.

I'm submitting my short story to a contest today. If I place, I can be published. :)

I've been published in a newspaper before...
I wrote an essay for some public contest, and the winning entries were published.

It was kind of a political sort of thing.

The essay was something like "How great is our country".

This was back when I was in Jr High...

But it was still fun to be with other kids, hiking around and stuff.

Yes...Brain washed.

I actually argued in a class that we SHOULD be in Viet Nam.
...because that's how my Dad felt, so therefore that's how I should feel...
