@zephi I don't know which, I just knew that I could feel her pain and even though I could I had no clue to how to help her except to mouth some empty words. If my seeming ability to feel the pain of others could actually help take their pain away, it would be worth it. I don't know if that is happening though. I do know that when I see someone else suffering - anyone - it makes whatever problems I have seem trivial in comparison. My strongest desire in that situation is to wave a magic wand and take the place of the person suffering. One psychiatrist I went to just said I have a martyr complex and I need to get over it. But my current therapist is a lot more understanding but she does push me into situations where I have to experience it full force.

Always better to have a therapist who will help you to "get over it" than someone who just tells you to do something. it's a lot easier said than done. Of course, doing something is always better than doing nothing. And it might not be the idea to take the pain away from others and put it on yourself, but to help them understand what they are going through and why and what they can do to get better themselves. We can't take things from people that they don't want or know how to give up...

Yes, I'm excited. I've stayed at my then-boyfriend's apartment but only for a few months at a time. Recently been between a friend's house and my parent's. This is the first time that it will really feel like my own place.
