It started in 1963, and it stopped being aired in the early 90's, but it was revived spectacularly in 2005 and there's been a series every year since.
They also do a christmas special every year which is always epic and had the prime time slow of 7pm on christmas day. My whole family sits down and watches it, as do most of my friends families.
